March 2025
I would consider this game something between Rust for people with jobs and DayZ without masochistic elements. After 1.0 it seems that this game is finally going somewhere. Base building is fun but not mandatory (there are still safezones if someone preferred the old gameplay). Weapon and Armour rebalance finally made playing in fullgear worth it and made it much more difficult to obtain high tier weapons in the first few minutes of the game. Cool idea to have servers with and without offline raiding and wipes. AI is still dogs*it and shoots you with a shotgun from 300 meters making everyone aware of your presence, but hopefully it will be fixed some time in the future. Crafting and foraging features are still lackluster but we are getting somewhere.

Whole crew just bought this tonight and pounded 3 hours of gameplay and all stayed up way later than we normally do! This truly is DayZ/Rust for people with lives. Graphics are insanely good and runs so well. Getting 160 fps with zero drops at max settings with 7900 GRE at 1440p native. It is bonkers. Makes DayZ look so dated by comparison. We look forward to this game growing and evolving with more varied biomes and more weapons/customization.

Day Z for people like me who doesnt want to run around without a gun for 20 hours Rust for people like me who doesnt want to hit trees with rocks for 20 hours and grind my life away Fun PVP , good game. Weird its not more popular tbh!

Update 12-5-2024: After the 1.0 update the AI has been balanced a bit more. No more laser headshots through a bush from 300 yards away. There are Wipe free servers available that have extended decay on your base. So that helps with PvE type of play. I still hold to the need of an Offline or player ran server. Cars, motorcycles, boats, better fast travel. I don't PvP and never would rain on that parade. 7/10 gameplay that could benefit from a few personal likes. Get it and help the community grow or wish list to watch for that change you were wanting. Up to you. Game Happy -------Original Review---------- Oh Deadside, you had promise. You had spunk. But you've let yourself go. The magic has faded much like old paint. The lack of meaningful updates, bots that can hit you with a shotgun from 200+ yards away, and the inability to have an offline solo mode has left you kinda there. You're not bad, but you ain't great. If you like PvP survival, it isn't a bad game at all. If you like PvE slow burn play style, you'll lose your base in 7 days, it isn't worth it. I hope they fix what needs fixing and add in some sort of solo or server download.
