Update 12-5-2024: After the 1.0 update the AI has been balanced a bit more. No more laser headshots through a bush from 300 yards away. There are Wipe free servers available that have extended decay on your base. So that helps with PvE type of play. I still hold to the need of an Offline or player ran server. Cars, motorcycles, boats, better fast travel. I don't PvP and never would rain on that parade. 7/10 gameplay that could benefit from a few personal likes. Get it and help the community grow or wish list to watch for that change you were wanting. Up to you. Game Happy -------Original Review---------- Oh Deadside, you had promise. You had spunk. But you've let yourself go. The magic has faded much like old paint. The lack of meaningful updates, bots that can hit you with a shotgun from 200+ yards away, and the inability to have an offline solo mode has left you kinda there. You're not bad, but you ain't great. If you like PvP survival, it isn't a bad game at all. If you like PvE slow burn play style, you'll lose your base in 7 days, it isn't worth it. I hope they fix what needs fixing and add in some sort of solo or server download.

BEFORE MAJOR UPDATE: I have experience in Rust and Dayz and I can say this game has been my favorite out of all. The simplicity makes this game a better pick for anyone who don't have time to play 24/7. You cannot get raided unless you die to another online player, and even then there is a chance you won't drop a raid token. Once your raid token is popped, any other players in server have 1 hour to gather c4 and raid your base. It takes 1 c4 for any type of build to destroy. (Loot boxes are not lootable for others not assigned to base, only when raid is active of course.) There are many missions scattered around the map varying from easy to epic. There are also loot drops and convoys that give high tier military loot (weapons, attachments, and even better armor). There are also different places around the map that contain locked crates which can be opened with red keys found at heli crashes, dead NPC's clothing, or mission crates. Inside these locked crates are various types of guns with many different possible camos that can only be obtained by opening these crates. Loot obtained from missions, drops, etc. can be stored at any of the two safe zones located north and south of the map (Large green circles). Once loot storage is full, you can sell unwanted things to trader, or you can obtain a hammer, axe, nails, and wood and start building your base! Doors can be locked with code locks, and crates can be made to store loot. (8 crates max as of this update) There are many guides on the game as i cannot explain everything. This game has exceeded my expectations leading me to leave this giant review. I highly recommend giving this game a try as it goes on sale often, even though it is already a fantastic price for what the Devs have givin us! AFTER MAJOR UPDATE: GAME IS EVEN BETTER WITH MORE CONTENT. 10/10

it is with a heavy heart that I must address the pervasive issue of hacking and cheating that plagues Deadside, tarnishing what could otherwise be a promising and immersive gaming experience. Deadside initially captured the attention of players with its expansive open-world environment and intense survival mechanics. However, the game's potential is overshadowed by the rampant spread of hacking and cheating, which has transformed what should be a thrilling struggle for survival into a frustrating and unfair ordeal. One of the most glaring manifestations of hacking and cheating in Deadside is the prevalence of aimbots and wallhacks in player-versus-player (PvP) encounters. It is disheartening to witness skilled players being overshadowed by individuals who rely on automated aim assistance to gain an unfair advantage. The result is an unbalanced and demoralizing gameplay experience, where victory is not determined by skill or strategy, but by the ability to exploit illicit software. Furthermore, the integrity of Deadside's economy is undermined by players who engage in duping exploits and item manipulation. This not only devalues in-game currency and items but also disrupts the delicate balance of the game's economy, rendering legitimate gameplay progression meaningless. As a result, honest players are left feeling disillusioned and disenfranchised, with their hard-earned efforts overshadowed by the exploits of cheaters. Despite numerous reports from the community regarding hacking and cheating, the response from the developers has been disappointingly inadequate. While occasional ban waves may temporarily address the symptoms of the problem, the root causes remain largely unaddressed, allowing cheaters to resurface with impunity. This lack of decisive action only serves to embolden cheaters and perpetuate a toxic gaming environment where fair play is a rare commodity. In conclusion, the pervasive presence of hacking and cheating in Deadside represents a significant blemish on an otherwise promising survival game. Unless urgent measures are taken to address this issue, the game risks losing its player base and tarnishing its reputation irreparably. As a fan of Deadside and the survival genre as a whole, I implore the developers to prioritize the fight against hacking and cheating, lest the integrity of the game continue to decay into oblivion.

2.4k hours of Rust, 200+ SCUM, dozens on DayZ. Like this one the best of them all. Bots and missions fun as hell. Good with friends or enemies but just as good alone. Waiting on some more development. Land vehicles would be welcome. Boats work. No complaints really enjoy it, really good game!
