BUYER BEWARE: this game is good for a bit of dumb zombie killing fun, definitely worth the price, gameplay loop is enjoyable and the art is good. However the game is loaded with performance issues. I mean the game will be borderline unplayable at times. I play on the lowest settings though and it still looks decent and is fun so I'd still recommend it overall.

I got Deadly 30 for a dollar, about what it's worth if stretching the good parts of it further than they actually go but I'm a sucker for nostalgic flash games. It's not worth the $5 asking price, it should probably be free as a cool proof of concept that the devs use to show that they're ready to make a full game, and the faults are so severe I can't argue with the negative reviews. But hey, get it on sale or not if you're not as much of a curmudgeon as I am, it's a fun afternoon for a few bucks. In 1940s World War 2 you start as Johnny Soldierman, American who loves his country. You'll eventually bump into Vodka Drunkenski Sr and Nazi Girl, which is everybody's personalities in full. Hold out for 30 days in your base from dangerous waves of zombies at night and scavenge as much scrap as you can during the strict daylight timer, try not to get caught outdoors when the sun sets. It's alright! I thought Deadly 30 was free since it's obviously got a lot of rough edges, can't run in resolutions that were modern ten years ago and to this day on monstrous rigs it will randomly drop to single digit frames for several seconds, which really sucks in a twitch-based holdout shooter where every second counts and can be punished by loss of defenses or even characters. This is extra bad when you're expected to quickly swap between 3 characters to cover two sides simultaneously. Options to set the AI partners to defend a specific spot would be a godsend, though at least they're reasonably competent as long as your walls hold. They'll die instantly face-tanking the wave if they don't. The exploration gets repetitive fast as there's only four total screens that are flat, featureless lines, two to either side of your base, and there's nothing to do but shoot zombies and hope you find chests to shoot(lol) or vehicles to dismantle for extra scrap. Considering the shooting is a bit satisfying and the game even has a slick proximity-based melee and a use function I'm surprised how clunky that is, but anyways. There's a bit of pleasant skill to dealing with zombies. You deal better damage if you crouch and aim for heads but this stops you, there's slight(emphasis on slight) variation and use in each character(machine gun, rifle, shotgun) and some mild base design elements, though money is so tight and space so cramped that you can't get much going on. Don't get surrounded and put out fires on either side of your base as quick as you can, juggle when to reload turrets or swap characters or repair fences and hold your ground, there's a good flow at heart. That summarizes the charm of Deadly 30: it's neat. It's crude and has faults but I didn't mind the steadily ramping difficulty of new enemies, harder exploration and holdouts and trying to race the timer to upgrade my stuff. I did get a bit bored midway through and start activating night waves faster, a big mistake as Deadly 30 has a really bad autosave system and punishes you for not farming every day for extra scrap. Surviving a wave gives you a limited bit of scrap so you can maintain ammo, health and the fences but if you ever have a night that's too difficult or lose a turret you're likely on a death spiral, the autosave has you locked at the start of the current day and you probably can't Houdini your way through with the ultimately limited combat system. If you crash into the wall of rising numbers then you're done. If you do it from Day 20 or further you've got a really tedious restart ahead of you. I don't think save slots were a big ask in the Year of our Lord Gaben, 2014. Gripes aside I still enjoyed a few hours with it. The humor is stupid but so am I so it gave me a few chuckles. Deadly 30 does fine by the $1-3 mark. It's a shame nothing else was done with the idea since the framework is here for a fun zombie game with more and branching upgrades, an actual map to explore, more base to setup, that sort of thing.

this is one of those classic flash games, the "lol random" humour from this early era is extinct in modern games and is actually done in good taste, it also dosent take itself too seriously. You get a German woman with power armour, Helicopers, M60 turrets, AK 47s, alien laser guns and automatic shotguns all in 1940. Get on sale, not worth the current price

Great game for its time and price. The only criticism I have for it is the lack of settings. Edit: The game has a leaking problem, you I have to re-open the game ever 2-3 (in-game)days. Otherwise the game will keep having LARGE slowdowns...

Pretty great game for 55p i don't think i've even got that far into it but i like all three characters have unique playstyles and you need to think a lot about what you do each day and what you have time to do before night comes it's similar to 7 days to die but the zombies come every night instead of every 7. Overall i give this game a 9/10
