An enjoyable zombies game and a nice continuation of the previous one Dead Island Riptide is nice on its own and also as a continuation of the first game in the series. The story is good and there are new varieties of weapons, boats (they are all the same), lots of collectables and more islands to explore. It's a must-have for those who loved the first one. Story: It's a continuation of the first Dead Island, although you don't actually have to play the first one to understand it because at the beginning of this game, there'll be a quick cutscene telling the main things that happened in the previous game so you can get a context of what is happening. The story on its own is pretty enjoyable too. the scenario: It's beautiful although the first game has better islands and the islands on this one are short. In total you have 6 new areas to explore (not including the submarine) some of them are really small areas, but quite enjoyable, for example, you'll go to a Ferry Station at some point in the game, that Island is very small, but it does have a map and it reminds me the first Island of the previous game. It's an enjoyable place. My opinion on the first Island: I mean I enjoyed but I think it could be better, with more points of interest, but I did enjoyed a lot. Some really beautiful spots on the edges of the island, I really liked the one that It's only reachable by boat, on the top left of the map where you can see the mountains and the sea, really calm and nice place. Things it does better than the first game: 1. A skill for getting up quickly after being knocked out 2. more skills that level up by themselves, for example, you have your character skills just like the first game, but on top of that you also have weapons skills, you can level up those by killing with a specific weapon category: blunt, sharp etc. The more you level up the said category, the more damage and benefits you get while using that kind of weapon. 3. More continuous quests. 4. more XP after completing quests. Overall: if you enjoyed the first Dead Island, please play this one too, It's a continuation of that and the Islands are worth to be played on, It's better with a friend.

If you liked Dead Island 1, you'll like Riptide. Basically the same game with a bit more polish. Overall Dead Island Riptide almost feels like a large DLC. Theres a good amount of content don't get me wrong, but the game doesn't do much to set itself apart from 1. Outside of a base defense mini game which is relevant 3 times in 30 hours of gameplay, and some other minor additions, its essentially the same game. That being said minor tweaks and some polish here and there push riptide to be slightly more enjoyable overall compared to 1. The leveling/xp rate feels much more balanced, and guns feel viable as a weapon rather than being peashooters like in 1. That's honestly my favorite part of riptide, as much fun as smacking zombies with melee weapons is, getting a host of guns that felt impactful made the game even more enjoyable. Nothing beats mowing down groups of zombies with automatic weapons.

the explorable world is not as good as the first Dead Island but the combat physics are still very satisfying in this game. Sharp weapons dismember, and heavy weapons knock them over with ragdoll physics. It's free right now for the next couple days so you may as well claim it and have some fun with the combat.

Very much similar to the previous one. A lot of people hate it for that, but I still think it's a great game.

As a fan of the original Dead Island game, I was eagerly anticipating the release of Dead Island Riptide. And I have to say, it did not disappoint. This expansion is a perfect follow-up to the first game, continuing the story of the survivors and adding new elements that keep the game feeling fresh and exciting. One of the first things that struck me about Dead Island Riptide was the improvements in graphics and gameplay. The graphics are even more stunning than the first game, with vibrant and detailed environments that really immerse you in the zombie-infested island. The gameplay also feels smoother and more polished, making combat and movement feel more fluid and natural. But what sets Dead Island Riptide apart from the first game is the new island of Palanai. This new location adds a whole new dimension to the game, with different landscapes, dangerous new enemies, and interesting side quests to discover. Exploring this new island is an adventure in itself and adds even more hours of gameplay to an already lengthy game. The characters from the original game also make a return in Riptide, and their stories continue to evolve in interesting and unexpected ways. It was great to see how they have grown and changed since the events of the first game, and also to meet new characters who bring their own unique flavor to the group dynamic. One of the things that made the original Dead Island so popular was its open-world, RPG-style gameplay. And this aspect is still present and well-executed in Riptide. The game gives you the freedom to explore, make choices, and improve your character's skills and weapons, making each playthrough a unique and personal experience. Of course, a game like Dead Island Riptide wouldn't be complete without its signature, gory combat. And once again, the game delivers on this front. The variety of weapons available, from the classic machete to electrified axes, makes for some truly satisfying zombie-slaying action. And the addition of new special infected, like the Screamer and the Boomer, adds new challenges and strategies to the gameplay. Overall, Dead Island Riptide is a solid expansion to an already legendary game. It does an excellent job of building upon the foundation of the first game, while also bringing fresh and exciting elements to the table. Whether you are a fan of the original or new to the Dead Island series, this game is a must-play for any zombie game enthusiast.
