Really fun game, and big improvement over the first one. Graphics improved a lot, the characters, the zombies, the animals, very detailed and polished. Now you can see the equipment on your survivors, when you change their gear. Also, the UI is cleaner and more understandable while maintaining that cool "notebook look". The new base is great, with the fallout shelter style. And the different environments while exploring are gorgeous and very detailed. The new animated portraits are also really cool. It's a bit sad that there are no mini-cutscenes like in the first one. Sound effects improved a lot, music is great and doesn't feel that repetitive like in the previous game. This one also doesn't have voice acting, which is a bit disappointing. Gameplay improved in a lot of ways. The map movement is really cool idea, letting you explore and conquer the different zones. The base building and crafting now let you do more than one action per day, which is great to upgrade your base and gear up your survivors quickly. The crafting and character progression remains interesting, and also it's possible to craft more deterministic stats on gear. The resource management it's a bit better. The combat has a lot of new options, like summoning animals, and new interesting skill, and also character positioning. I'm still not a fan of the Final Fantasy combat style, but I enjoyed this iteration a lot more than the previous game. The medal system solved the problems that the previous game had, now you can re-spec your points and also change them if you make mistakes. Another great change is the time limit removal (it still has one, but you can continue playing after that if you complete the objective), this allows you to better gear and level your survivors and have fun with your maxed-out gear. The story improved too, it's more complex than the first one, with a lot of twists. If you enjoyed the characters from the first game, you will enjoy this one. Some of the side stories are a bit underwhelming, but in general, the story is good. The romance options continue to be non-existent, just a mission with a female character and nothing more. The factions are interesting, and the choices you make are not really impactful, just reputation changes between factions and some characters changing the way they see you, but the story in general, remains mostly the same no matter what you do. In short, it's a big improvement over the previous game, very fun. If you enjoyed the first one, definitely try this one.

Relaxing game despite the zombie ambientation. It is quite repetitive but enjoyable nonetheless. Not the cup of tea for everybody, but I got it on sale and was worthy of the price.

Fernando tells Sarah that she should stay in the kitchen in the first 20 minutes of the game. 10/10 would hang out with Fernando again. This game can spend the next 10 hours as a CNB torture simulator and I'll always fondly remenber Fernando, my hispanic homeboy. EDIT: After putting some time into this game, I can say that there is a lot of things that lack polish. For example, not being able to get all 3 factions to join your end game thing despite getting all 3 to agree. There's even dialogue where your main character complains about how "I couldn't get everyone to agree" even though you literally just did that exact thing. Some of the quests are not clear on how to complete them. How TF do you get Mason out of jail? I paid his debt, got the thing he sends you for, and he mumbles about some girl who is delaying things, but she is nowhere to be found? The bridge thing. I solved the "Mystery" basically by accident. The guidance on what to do with this quest was absurdly lacking. When you are setting out to forge alliances, for some reason the faction heads will tell you "gotta do more stuff for me first" despite having 100/100 rep. "Normal" difficulty is extremely hard, whilst Casual is so easy that you can get bored with it. I would really like to see either Normal get nerfed down a bit so its not quite as much of a slog, or casual get cranked up just a bit so its not laughably easy. Your game has some serious flaws, and I hope you haven't abandoned it. Still, Fernando is my dude. Looking forward to my next play already.

Overall recommended, but it tends to overstay its welcome. The enemies and missions don't offer much variety once it gets to the first few missions with the mutatations. For me, most of it was a grind beyond Day 26. Programmed-in modifiers for skills, weapons etc. also frequently yield unexpected results. For example, I was able to successfully pick several locks despite having 0 skill in the required category and a 45% base chance. Story has a few plot twists but not a whole lot that would be in player's control. Could have been better but good enough for me to slog through a one-time 'Normal' difficulty run till the end.

Having played both the first and the second game, I must say the devs worked real hard to make this one way better than the first. First off, all skills are viable and have their place. Hunter and engineering skills complement eachother beautifully. This is also true for guns. A pistol with cheap ammo can be used to delay and weaken whereas a rifle with expensive ammo can unleash death upon... the dead. The skills that require 3 AP can be used frequently in the later game. They deal so much damage that you can wait for half turn (1 AP) and use a 3 AP next turn and make this a regular playstyle. One thing I found a bit off is that you don't actually need high level ammo. Game doesn't give you much iron and wolfram to make them anyway. Plus the fact that you produce 50 regular ammo and 30 of other types in one sitting is also a turnoff. So in my game, I chose to produce the regular ammo and shoot without counting my bullets rather than producing expensive stuff and be stingy about them. The fights can be repetitive sometimes yes but I didn't find it boring. Planning missions and production is fun. The story, characters and the dialogues are not my favorite part of the game. There is a small improvement after the first game but they are still very simple.
