If you're a fan of customizable and easy-to-learn RPG experiences, the fantasy steampunk Dark Envoy might be a game for you. Battle & Combat Dark Envoy offers a combat system that's both accessible and rewarding. Controlling all four party members feels intuitive, and the ability to set stances allows them to act autonomously, which means you won't need to micromanage every action. They’ll handle basic attacks on their own, leaving you free to focus on strategy and special abilities. The game’s depth shines through in how you can combine various debuffs to amplify damage or create new status effects, adding a layer of complexity that keeps battles engaging. One unique feature of Dark Envoy is the possibility to draw how some spells should be deployed. You can choose to play battles in real-time, slow-motion, or even pause the combat entirely. Taking cover reduces ranged damage and using the environment to your advantage—like hacking gun turrets, shooting explosive barrels or plants, or slowing enemies down with quicksand—can give you an edge in the fight. Character customization & RPG Character customization is a good feature, with 4 classes and 12 specializations that allow for a wide range of character builds. You have a limited number of passive and active abilities to equip, but game’s flexible respec system lets you experiment freely until you find the perfect build. Your characters rely heavily on their gear, which can give huge boosts to their stats and attributes based on the type of armor or trinket they’re wearing. You can also enchant this gear with passive bonuses. Story & Exploration The story might start off slow, but it really picks up as unexpected plot twists emerge, gradually revealing a rich and intriguing narrative. Each location on the world map unlocks in a set order after key events, and each one is like its own dungeon packed with enemies, traps, side areas, and usually one or more objectives to complete. You can explore these dungeons at your own pace, even sneaking past enemies with a basic stealth system. Besides the main path, you'll often find side areas with color-coded chests that contain random loot and resources. During the main campaign you have the option to make impactful story choices such as repair or destroy a powerful machine. Verdict This game checks all the boxes for a traditional RPG experience, offering everything from attribute allocation during level-ups to crafting, unique items, and upgradeable abilities. Plus, the quality-of-life features like free respecs, save-anywhere functionality, able to paus in battles and various difficulty options make it convenient to play. Whether you're a seasoned RPG enthusiast or new to the genre, the Guns N’ Sorcery world of Dark Envoy delivers a rich and engaging journey that’s well worth your time. It’s not Baldurs gate 3 perfection but it delivers on what is most important, it’s very fun to play.

A very nice RPG game. It is forced on combat, with very few simple puzzles. It has controllable pause (mean, you can pause the combat and set the orders). Also a very important thing is that you literally cannot make wrong choiced when you select your character's attributes and abilities. They always can be reset and redistirbuted anew. Even class and specialization may be changed if you want to try something new.

This game is an excellent RPG which is far better than most AAA games. I highly recommend this game, it's just a pity that not many people have heard of it! It's a game where choices matter, and it's rather easy to get hooked and start a second playthrough right after you finish the game for the first time. At least, that's what I did! There's cosmetic character customisation for the two main characters, and you meet more people along the journey. Being able to take up to four characters per mission allows you to test all the classes and specialisations. There's a pleasant crafting system that lets you make the items you want, with the bonuses you want. The devs are responsive on their Discord, and bugs are acknowledged and regular updates are made. I highly recommend this game and Tower of Time from the same company.

This is a lukewarm recommendation, at best. I purchased the game at a 40% sale when the 1.4 patch came out. I guess I got my money's worth, but I'm mostly frustrated - because the game has interesting systems and mechanics that basically stop mattering half way through the game. It also has stability issues - it locked my PC multiple times requiring a reboot. There are interesting classes and abilities, but since you are limited to how many passive/active abilities you can equip, once you've unlocked and leveled the skills you care about, there is nothing to do from then on. Roughly the last third of my character level ups I only leveled the raw stats (Attributes) and left the Skill points untouched. There is a diversity of gear - armor/weapons/amulets, which you can find, buy or craft. Once you have access to purple (legendary) rarity items, which have a slot for enchantments which enhance it, and got the minimum full kit, all lesser rarity gear becomes an auto-sell, so most of the stuff you find becomes meaningless. I think it was around late chapter 2 that I fully ignored all non-purple (or unique) gear and I probably didn't even equip/craft a single new purple or unique item on my team from mid chapter 3 until the end of the game. There's a research tree where you unlock tactical abilities, stat improvements, and ability to craft and enchant better gear. It was probably around early chapter 3 that I researched all I cared about and didn't look at the research tree from that point on. There are companions which have just a single side-story individual optional mission (for which you have to equip them and do the whole class build selection) which then goes nowhere and whether you did that or not is not even reflected in their ending after game completion. Companions are indistinguishable mechanically - the class/stats define their role, and there are no unique stat/abilities/mechanics to give them some character. In combat, pathfinding was a constant source of frustration. Characters (and the various summoned/constructed units) can not path one through another, the maps almost always have constrained pathways/bridges/chokepoints, and the various units take more space than is visually intuitive. So when playing with constructor/summoner classes, they spend much of combat blocking one another and running half around the map because the small summon you created apparently blocks the whole passage. And there's no way to define a formation - so when initiating combat your melee tank/taunt guy will be running last behind your squishy mage and gunslinger, blocked by them, unless you manually and carefully rearrange them every time. A lot of cool ideas and mechanics, that were interesting to learn and experiment with - and then there was the whole second half of the game. Difficulty was awkward - I had a character downed in combat only once, in the initial chapter where you have only 2 characters, on Normal difficulty. I changed to Hard on Chapter 2, and to Insane from Chapter 3 till the end, but once you have the full party and gear/skills set up, I didn't really notice the difference.
