Cyber Hook is an atmospheric runner that delivers a fast-paced and visually stunning experience. Every movement in the game feels fluid and exhilarating, making traversal a joy rather than a challenge. The mechanics are simple yet refined, allowing for smooth handling without unnecessary complexity. As an average synthwave enjoyer, I found myself deeply immersed in the game’s neon-drenched aesthetic. The vibrant angles, sharp vectors, and glowing environments create a mesmerizing visual spectacle that perfectly complements the energetic gameplay. The synth-heavy soundtrack further amplifies the experience, making every moment feel like a high-speed chase through a retro-futuristic world. If my physics teacher had seen how I played this game, she would have been spinning like an unlimited engine. The sheer speed, precision, and finesse required to master Cyber Hook make it a thrilling ride that keeps you coming back for more. Whether you’re swinging, wall-running, or launching yourself through neon landscapes, the game delivers an adrenaline-fueled experience that’s both challenging and rewarding. Some levels were frustrating, but they didn’t stop me from unlocking all the achievements. The challenge only added to the sense of accomplishment and mastery over the game’s mechanics. Overall, Cyber Hook is a must-play for fans of fast-paced movement-based games and synthwave aesthetics. It’s an electrifying journey through a digital playground, where every moment is an opportunity to push your skills to the limit. 10/10

Great grapple mechanics and I like how they treated the momentum in this. Most of the levels hit that sweet spot where each failed attempt isn't gonna cost you more than a minute, and the double R press for an instant restart makes you always want to keep going. There's not much in the way of story or combat but this isn't the kind of game that really needs that as long as it's nice to look at, which it is.

The first approximately half of the game is about maintaining your speed. It's fun. Then the game becomes significantly more precision based with a pretty significant difficulty jump. In those levels, I had to take breaks because the game became less and less fun as I got through more and more levels. Every now and then there would be a level that was fun to play but quickly it was gone and replaced by the much more frustrating levels, which would either be gimmicky, misleading, or absolutely massive for no apparent reason. You will be able to beat the game without dealing with many of these levels if you get 3 stars on all the beginning levels, but that motive seems a bit odd for a game of this genre. The developer remembered how to make the levels fun in the DLC, but since the difficulty goes back down it won't feel very long. There is Steam Workshop integration, though, so there's a theoretically endless supply of levels. The lore serves no purpose in this game. Don't get invested; it doesn't go anywhere. I still recommend this game overall. Just because I found the precise levels more annoying than fun doesn't mean you will.

the game is pretty fun, its a good alternative to neon white; its better in some ways worse in others, but the biggest change they need to make is adding in a friends leaderboard. tbh that was the biggest thing for neon white, my friend and i basically only raced against each other and it was super fun to one up each other consistently. competing against global times isnt that engaging compared to competing against your friend

amazing game, but watch out if you are trying to 100% it, the achievements "Relief at last" and "Just a few more frames" are swapped, meaning you still have to do both of them, you just get the other one when you complete one of them
