A nice, cute and short video game gameplay is simple but satisfying NPC voices are perfect If Hades and Animal Crossing had a baby this would be it

Sometimes my followers don't produce food fast enough for how much my cult is growing, but that's okay, because whenever i don't have enough food for my followers, i like to brainwash them with strange mushrooms i find in the woods. Once they're appropriately compliant due to the mind altering substances, i create meals for them out of their own recycled poop, while convincing them that it's a bountiful feast of fruit and meat. They can't even tell the difference! If somehow the poop feast isn't enough for them, what i like to do is take the old, sick or generally useless and sacrifice them in what i like to call an emergency Lambsgiving. It's when we put the old/sick/useless person on the table and just devour their flesh until there's nothing left! The rest of the followers LOVE it. Other activities we (and by "we" i mean the followers, not me) like to partake in around the cult's campgrounds are hard manual labor, fervently praying to the one true god (me) and fighting to the death for my amusement! those with sufficient faith are rewarded with eternal life through repeated resurrections, the opportunities to indulge in cardinal sins, and about 99% guaranteed protection from my divine wrath. really good game i like it.

Yeah I started to selectively breed my friends to get better cult members and have started an entire dynasty of people with desired traits. Apparently in the real world this is known as eugenics and is considered not a good thing. My bad.

A game should distract you from the busy events of everyday life. This game fits that description perfectly. Now I'm fully focused on my cult. Send help.

Alright. Cult of the Lamb is done and dusted. This game is influenced by a lot of different games, but prominent amongst them are The Binding of Isaac and some Zeldas. The devs did a great job of adding their own spin to these while also including base building and follower management. It’s really got a little bit of a lot of genres. There’s even some lite bullet hell sequences based on enemy and boss abilities. And there are some mini games as well. :) https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3136751519 The story is pretty silly. A group of monster bishops go about the business of sacrificing all lambs in the world. You’re the last lamb, but when they sacrifice you, an evil god intervenes, making you his avatar in the world. Your goal is to found and build up a cult to his worship while building up your cult’s base to feed and shelter your cultists, gather their worship energy, and generally build both your power and the power of your cultists. You will use your cult’s base as the launching point for various quests including your other primary goal: to kill the bishops that have imprisoned your god. The base building is not disimilar from various RTS games. You’ll build a variety of buildings that will accomodate your religion and your cultists. You’ll also farm, mine, cut lumber, cook food, gather that worship energy I mentioned earlier. You’ll (unfortunately) also clean up your cultist’s poop, which they’ll drop indiscriminately around your base until you finally build some outhouses, and even then, they’ll let it go sometimes. Freaking animals! You’ll also also build a prison to discourage dissent amongst your followers, crypts for the dead, etc.. Your cultists can and will die despite never leaving your compound outside of some story moments when they’re summoned elsewhere. Some will grow old and die of old age. You’ll sacrifice others. Depending on circumstances, cultists can also murder each other. However, they also develop relationships amongst themselves and with you, and maintaining your relationship with your cultists is of paramount importance. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3136751070 Then there are the dungeons. These are presented in Binding of Isaac fashion. However, this isn’t a twin stick shooter. Instead, it’s melee and magic focused, where you’ll use weapons, relics, and sometimes actual spells to fight your way through each dungeon. However, it strays from Isaac by also including node maps between dungeons that might also include new followers, supplies, extra battles, etc…The Zelda mechanics show themselves in the actual combat. Plus, there is a heart health system which is used in both of CotL’s main influences. The node system will eventually lead to the area boss, who you will defeat and then recruit. In each bishop’s area, you’ll need to complete them four times. The fourth time, it unlocks the bishop battle. The world also features other locations where you’ll meet allies and complete quests and such. Which leads me to the RPG mechanics. You will have several categories of unlocks, from weapons and relics to rituals (which you’ll use for buffs, resurrecting dead cultists, and so on), new buildings and decorations, etc…there are a lot of upgrades and many tiers to some of them. So yeah. There’s a lot to Cult of the Lamb, and I’m really just scratching the surface of what is available in the game. Once you finish the game, you can keep playing, wrapping up cheevos and doing some extra story stuff if you’re so inclined. You also unlock some difficulty modes. The graphics and audio are all geared towards emphasizing the cutesy and yet murdery nature of the world. It’s a very pleasing game mixed with pleasing horror, lol. And the soundtrack was really cool as well. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3136751294 I will also note that despite the various gameplay mechanics, the game does a great job of teaching you how to play in a very approachable and intuitive manner. It took me right around 13 hours to play through the campaign, but I think you could easily get another 10ish hours trying to wrap up cheevos. I played on the Steam Deck on the highest settings with no issues and about 2 hour battery life. Cost vs value is definitely there with this one. The devs do recommend using a gamepad, so if you’re strictly k/m, you might want to look more into it before buying, but it’s an easy recommendation and one of the best Indies out there.
