Ignore the small amount of hours. I played both Breath of Death and this back on the Xbox Live Arcade days. They are both hilarious tributes to the NES/SNES JRPGs and deserve a lot of love. as of this writing (steam winter sale), they are bundled together for less than $1 and are absolutely worth it even for the full prices individually not on sale. Do not listen to the haters that expect too much out of a 2011 indie JRPG parody. it is great fun, especially if you are into old school JRPGs

It's really fucked up that this game has one of the better turn-rpg combat systems I've seen You can get it for the same price as a pack of gum sometimes, so get it.

Just like breath of death, a very enjoyable game. It's incredibly cheap to buy and very funny. I'd recommend just sticking it on easy and blasting straight through it for the story and dialog.

It's a game full of fun parody dialogue. Unfortunately, the pacing is dragged down by it's gameplay. You will spend hours tracking through labyrinth dungeons while being haunted by random encounters all to reach the next joke. And the combat is based off a generic JRPG system. The game would have been better off with far less combat encounters. However, given the game's low price, I still recommend trying it if you like the gimmick. Otherwise, try the sequel: Cthulhu Saves Christmas. I haven't played it yet but I hear it's better.

A tongue-in-cheek RPG that makes fun of Cthulu and anime-style JRPG's at the same time. I never broke into the JRPG genre proper, so I can't rate how good it is compared to those. HOwever, the combat does seem to have room for actual strategy, and it can feel satisfying when you take a bad guy down. The silly dialogue is what really sells it. I'm not really the happiest person on Earth with HP Lovecraft or his work, or how seriously his fans take it, so this make-funnery and forced fusion of it with JRPG setting tropes and visuals make for a satisfying slice of humble pie to watch be eaten as I play. __ Weaknesses include a lack of clear direction and difficulty finding where your next objective is supposed to be. Thankfully, you can chat with party members at any time- something every RPG should have allowed, really- and outside of funny worldbuilding talks, they can also give you a hint of at least what to look out for, although I still think things should be named on the overworld map.
