It's wild how 15 years later any computer can run crysis, but back in the day this was the benchmark for how good a game can look. The game is ok, but fighting human enemies was always way funner than fighting the squids

Crysis 2 set out to take everything that made its predecessor a technical marvel and refine it into a more accessible, fast-paced shooter. And while it certainly delivers some thrilling moments and impressive visuals, it doesn’t quite recapture the open-world jungle stealth that made the first game so iconic. The change in setting from the jungle to an urban environment is a bold shift, but it introduces a more linear structure that feels somewhat restrictive, especially for those who loved the sandbox-style freedom of the first game. New York itself is a beautifully detailed war zone, but it’s a far cry from the lush, expansive jungles of Crysis. One of the standout features of Crysis 2 is, unsurprisingly, its visual fidelity. The game is absolutely stunning, with some of the best lighting and detailed textures of its time. The city’s towering skyscrapers and desolate streets look phenomenal, with dynamic weather and destruction adding to the immersion. If you’re playing it on a capable machine, it’s easy to get lost in the beauty of it all. The Nanosuit still provides a range of abilities, but this time, combat is much more action-focused. The addition of a more streamlined experience, including quicker movements, tight corridors, and intense firefights, turns Crysis 2 into a more traditional first-person shooter. While the cloak and armor abilities are still enjoyable, the focus on tighter levels and less open-ended gameplay doesn’t give you the same sense of power or freedom as the first game did. The game feels more like a "shoot 'em up" than the strategic, stealth-based experience that Crysis offered. Combat itself is solid, with well-designed weapons and enemy AI that offers a decent challenge. The alien enemies, while interesting and varied, don’t evoke the same awe as the ones in the first game, and their repetitive design often makes encounters feel formulaic. The inclusion of human enemies, however, brings a decent level of variety to the action. Unfortunately, the narrative doesn’t do much to elevate the experience. The plot feels like a typical alien invasion story, and the characters, including Alcatraz, are flat and lack the emotional depth that would have made the stakes feel more meaningful. All in all, Crysis 2 is a game with plenty of technical polish and high-octane action, but it falls short of recapturing the magic of the original. The switch to a more linear structure, coupled with a less captivating story, makes it feel more like a solid shooter than the genre-defining experience the first game was. If you're in it for the action and beautiful visuals, Crysis 2 delivers. But if you were hoping for the same kind of immersive, open-world stealth and freedom that made the original such a standout, you may find yourself a bit disappointed. A visually stunning, action-packed shooter that doesn't quite live up to its predecessor's legacy.

A short but sweet 6 hour Campaign. Voice acting is mid and can get drowned out by the music half the time, but the combat is still pretty fun. And of course, as a Crysis game, even for 2011, it still looks gorgeous over a decade later. Also, this is random, but I swear half the time the subtitles don't match what the characters are saying - particularly Gould. There's even some scenes where he's moving but not saying anything. It feels like they re-recorded lines for him but forgot to update the script - or maybe it's just a simple error. Weird that it happens the entire game though.

Crysis 2 is not about Nomad anymore, it's about Prophet, aliens and New York. I replayed this game at least 5 times and 3 of them on the maximum difficulty. It is a great game, the stealth is the best part of it. What saddens me is that there're no achievements in this game. Beautiful environments and an exciting story. If you were a fan of the first, you won't be disappointed with Crysis 2.
