I think I played the demo at some point and disliked it, because it looked too simple of a game, to enjoy for me. But having bought this on a discount some time later, I have to tell you I was mistaken. This game is surprisingly deep, especially once you have unlocked all card sets. Unlocking one cardset/feature takes 1 victory from what I can see, and I have won 3-4 times so far in 18 hours of play (with a few losses that were still fun). It's also the first single player card game with very granularly customizable difficulty scaling, as it has rating between 0 - 10000, that scales the amount of money you need to pay each week, to stay in the game. Sounds very boring and maybe simplistic, but the game suggests a new higher rating to you after every win, based on your performance, and let me tell you, I'm at 600-700 ish right now. So if you enjoy the game you probably have enough content in a single mode to enjoy it for as long as you want and there are weekly highscore runs where everyone playing the game shares the same seed, just like in many other rogue like deckbuilders. The strategy, while looking at first like it has very little, is actually very intruigingly complex. And there are probably dozens or hundreds of combos and strategies to go for, especially as some game modes randomly limit the game pool each run, so that you can't rely on the same strategy each game, if a card you used last one was remove this run. Looking forward to see how many hours of fun I get ouf of this game and what this dev will bring in the future.

I've bought Crop Rotation after having read the article of the developer about the new "Engine Builder" subgenre (Luck Be A Landlord, Balatro, among other games) that is currently taking off. As a fellow gamedev, I was curious about its take on it, even if the theme of Crop Rotation did not appeal a lot to me as a player. My feeling after a first game : "ok, this game has a lot of rules. it looks like a simulation take on the LBAL formula. I might do another game now that I've understood the basics". My feeling after a second game : "ok, the complexity is more a tutorisation thing : everything flows organically once you understand the global structure. And most importantly... What a banger!!" Crop Rotation is awesome. I'll be looking forward for other games by the same dev. Edit : even after completing the last (equivalent of) ascension level, the game still holds up extremely well. Also I love potatoes now.

Simple choices with loads of interactions and plenty of random chance to force you to try new strategies.

Fully recommend. I'm a fan of puzzle games that respect your time. It never rushes you - you can take as long as you want on your turns. You can also exit the game whenever you want and come back right where you left off, so it's especially great for letting you play for as much or as little as you want at a time. I've really enjoyed how many different strategies there are for getting strong combos.

Beware, this game is addictive once you start figuring out how to make a broken build. Each playthrough ends up being 2ish hours by the end if you're being careful and planning your moves, and it's just good clean fun. I also appreciate that the developer lets you unlock things either by playing or choosing to right click and unlock them. After figuring the basics out, I unlocked everything to avoid that feeling I was missing out on certain builds and I'm very happy I did. Also, the clean look of the home screen is great, the pixel style graphics and the theme are just really nice. Thank you for making this game :)
