Cossacks: European Wars is a must-play for any fan of real-time strategy games and historical settings. This classic RTS, set in the 17th and 18th centuries, immerses you in the intricate world of European conflicts with its detailed historical accuracy and complex gameplay mechanics. You can choose from sixteen different European nations, each bringing unique units and strategies to the table, which adds significant strategic depth to the game. The large-scale battles are a standout feature, allowing you to command thousands of units on the battlefield for epic and immersive experiences. The game's strategic depth is impressive, requiring careful resource management, army building, and meticulous military campaign planning. The robust multiplayer mode lets you test your skills against other players, and the still-active community ensures that you'll find plenty of challenging matches. One of the game's strongest points is its challenging AI, which adapts to your strategies and keeps each game fresh and exciting. However, newcomers might find the steep learning curve a bit daunting, and the user interface, while functional, does feel dated compared to modern standards. Despite these minor drawbacks, Cossacks: European Wars remains a timeless classic that offers a rich, engaging strategic experience. Overall, Cossacks: European Wars provides hours of captivating gameplay and is highly recommended for both veteran RTS players and newcomers looking for a deep and rewarding strategy game.

SlavJank in RTS form First attempt of GSC at legal game distributing - tried to appeal to Europe - got fans in CIS countries - GG Another Old game that barely works on modern systems Full 2D, needs render patches or else it barely works. After patches - take your time while calibrating game speed. Then save and quit. Or else you gotta do that every time. Anyway, buildings look nice, props too, units alright - for its time I mean. This game definetely has its charm if you give it a chance. Lots of tasks to do in every match 6 resources, wood, stone, food and 3 different mines. You hire a sh_t ton of peasants through the whole mission, make them gather resources, upgrade mines to the max Hire troops - depends on the tactic you like. Maybe you like cavalry, or slow but steady footmen assault. Raid enemy base with sheer numbers and capture every building you can - or bring up heavy artillery (4 types) and yes - you can damage buildings by only special kinds of units Do a hella of a lot upgrades Open map - destroy the enemy ....or just find enemy fast and starve him to death. Also there are ships for sea battles and an aerostat for opening map fully. Thats just basic stuff, the game is lot deeper than that (with lots of jank and abuse tactics) Mostly random battle stories that tied to historic events While the game is not that hard to learn (but definetely hard to master) its still aimed at experienced RTS players You can tell that by just playing through campaigns Tutorial one is easy but it barely teaches you anything - more like it shows off the mechanics of the game and thats all For the actual campaigns, there are 5 of them Tutorial one Caribbean Pirate troubles as England Ukraine's survival during 16-17 ages France's Revolution times And Russia aganist everyone who is near Also several single missions, skirmish and online Story Battles The missions are HARD: You go wrong way - you die Lost too many units - you die You fail at micromanagement - you die You forgot so save often - game crashed You do not know how to bait towers with smol units while cannons destroy them - you die You are not lucky enough - you die And so on My god does this game loves Trial And Error way of playing The Single missions are easier and more about learning about how the game actually plays - the AI can feel a bit hard (and frustrating) but it uses the same tactic in each battle so once you learn what it can do and when - piss easy For the final missions in campaign (Russian) and Final Single mission - Zerg Rush is your best friend for cheesy wins 16 nations to play, great looking maps, okay music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqBAT7eD-gQ&list=PLkPCEUWJspOlYKOHrayCNMkUlf6P54d2T&index=4 ^Music Example, and yes - there is one theme for each nation Mission Maps and the design of enemy bases look actually believable, remember that, since in latter games....oof There are lots of nations to choose from, but the most unique ones are: Ukraine - the weird one, with the only footmen unit - which is OP Russia - Jank early game with funny looking footmen and questionable cavalry and costly buildings too Poland - most European Slavic country with Winged Hussars that are Legendary OP Turkey - Zergs but humans Algeria - same but even more dumb (dont ask me why they are even here, Im not a historian) The rest are European nations like England, France, Prussia and so on. They look the same but have unique units here and there, for example England uses Scottish shooters whilst France have Royal Cavalry Shooters and so on. After you've done with campaigns Go play add-ons, its simple as that, the game not worth replaying it. Still a positive Yes, the game is jank, hard to make it even work. Some missions are way too hard. But still - this game is classic and a historic event. It made GSC what they are now and gave them a chance to become something. They f_cked it up later but still. Its a game worth knowing of and experiencing at least once.

It's quite funny and interesting to play even in 2024. One thing that I didn't like is the fact that it's extremely difficult sometimes
