A very fine puzzle game. The first half of the game is challenging but possible to solve quite quickly through trial and error. I come back and mull over the difficult ones, slowly chipping away at it.

What a gem. It's difficult to do simple puzzles well, and this game does simple puzzles well. This game gives you everything you need to succeed. There's no random chance and no hidden information. Everything is completely fair. And that, more than anything, is what's going to make you want to throw your mouse / laptop / phone out the window when you get stuck on some of these levels.

The gameplay is extremely simple, you just draw a single rail. However, the game is surprisingly challenging. I've had many moments when I thought "this level is impossible, I've tried everything", only for it to finally click. At some point, levels becomes to complex to figure the whole solution in your head and you have to try something, fail, and try again. At the very end (Nova 7's), it becomes more frustrating than fun in my opinion, but Cosmic Express is still very much worth it if you're into hard puzzle games. I just wished the game was more optimized for controllers & Steam Deck. It's playable, but a few tweaks could have gone a long way.

I loved this game! Simple and easy controls! Even though I can only complete a couple of levels each time (my brain will heat up and burn if I play this too long), it was a good pace and I enjoyed it very much!

TLDR Simple and cute line drawing game, with tough challenges among the ~130 levels. [17/20⭐, 35h🏅, 4/5💡] Context Cosmic Express is in essence a line drawing game. As expected from the creators of [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/macwh/recommended/290260/]Sokobond and [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/macwh/recommended/316610/]A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build , it’s simple and elegant, and often infuriatingly challenging. Although I’d also argue that it’s a bit more repetitive than those. Writing There is no plot really, you play as a cosmic train driver that has to collect and deliver alien passengers of different races through different galaxies. Aesthetics The visuals are simple and stylised, at the right level of cuteness (think [url=https://steamcommunity.com/id/macwh/recommended/316610/]A Good Snowman Is Hard To Build ). The eerie soundtrack is minimal, sufficient to build atmosphere without being intrusive. Gameplay The main mechanics is to build a non-overlapping train track, to collect passengers and deliver them to the appropriate destination, so at its core it’s a line drawing game. As the game progresses new mechanics are introduced, like multi-passenger trains, track crossings, or “smelly” passengers that decommission carriages. To be honest, it’s not sufficiently rich for puzzles not to feel a bit repetitive eventually, so it’s not prone to long play sessions. Difficulty is not linear, and there are always many open paths in the world galactic hub, but until end-game there are only a few challenging levels where I lost a couple of hours. Things do get tough - as in revisiting the level for several days tough - by the last galaxy and even worse in the after-credits monolith challenges where you have to replay the levels with additional restrictions . The whole gameplay experience is very smooth. You can construct the track with the mouse or keyboard, and destroy it by reversing direction. There’s infinite undo, fast forward during attempts, and level state is auto-saved. Value It took me about 27h to complete the ~130 levels of main game, and then about 8 hours for the bonus levels. There are always many open levels available in the hub, you don’t have to play linearly. You can always revisit levels from the galactic hub, and there are multiple progress slots. Achievements are just about completing the levels, don’t add any value. Repayable only if you want to revisit the puzzles. PS: along the way my game crashed and I lost all progress, luckily I was able tweak with the savegame file to avoid starting from scratch.
