After a perfect 20 hours, it is safe to say I have gathered enough expertise on this game to give it a properly thorough review. Firstly, I will say this, this game is not unenjoyable whatsoever. It is a refreshing take on sekirio meets darksouls that meets Mortal kombat. The combat itself is fairly enjoyable experience but it can get a bit tedious as time goes on and fights become harder. I will say this though, the decklike building of your character's movesets is masterfully done and really does the game justice. The classes themselves are all mostly enjoyable and strong in their own right minus a few. This game does force you to think a bit and strategize the best way to victory as well as meet your deadline before time is up. I do wish there was a mod to give indefinite time or to remove decay altogether as it does force to rush your gameplay a bit, however, it also helps to keep things less stagnant as you as pushed to progress as quickly as possible. Me personally, I found some pretty cool builds that I wish I could have kept. Combat while enjoyable can be a bit clunky and a bit unfair at times. Especially with the end game boss and the golden apostles (specifically the bow). I may make a guide on this game some time soon as I see it is needed. Overall, I love the ambiance and the mechanics. Combat is innovative, yet could use a bit more refinining as there does seem to be an imbalance between classes and I find ATK speed to be the most crucial aspect in determining victory. After beating the demon a few times, the game can be a bit more repetitive as you are forced to start all over again. Adding additional variety to spruce up replayability such as story choices, game mods, maybe even character skins or customizability options such as with games like Hadean tactics, this game would really shine. This game is well worth the price and it is very solid overall. Not a moment wasted! 8/10 P.S. Trophies are all fairly straightforward and easy to get also, this was my first real game to 100% completion that did not have me losing my mind hours on end!

Bad tutorials. Too easy once you're at the 2 hour mark. Unintuitive menus. Shallow combat. Bone injuries can be totally ignored. Combo mechanic is horrible, aswell as inspiration strikes. Ugly 3D rendering. Moves do not tell you the recovery time. Unskippable animations. Barely any story. Horrible balance issues. Runs are too short and don't allow you to indulge the extent of its mechanics. Repetitive gameplay loop. Heroes are pathetically weak. More I can list. And worse off, there's no point in me elaborating on my issues since there is no mod support and the devs seemingly abandoned the game. Somehow.. I like it. It's fun. Animating warriors through the bones of my enemies for a cinematic battle in a grimdark medievil world is cool as fuck. And the idea of a roguelite fighting game is awesome. But the game honestly sucks. Buy it on a big sale. I'd give this game a mixed review if possible. I really really hope we can get more games like this. I hope this can inspire something.

Corpse Keeper is a fun game. It has an interesting theme, style, and gameplay. The combat is a little shallow, but the gameplay loop is enjoyable. However, the developers have abandoned the project on version 1.0. They have even abandoned their Discord. They released an additional game mode to increase replay value and pushed a sale to celebrate the new content, but they have retracted the game mode with no plans to implement it. If you can overlook the lack of mod support, additional content, and the bait and switch development practice - then this is a game worth getting on sale.

8/10 - hidden gem. I have next to no complaints, it's really fun, difficult, and original. The entire game feels and looks fresh, nothing else like it. The idea is amazing, a rouge-like singleplayer fighting game and the AI absolutely is not a push-over. Especially much later on. The best part of the game is fighting a hard opponent going back and forth attacking, parrying, dodging, and just non stop momentum. The combat can look super cool. ---- My 2 minor complaints --- Later game balance for light armor units. Overall feel worse than heavy armored characters in high difficulties. Their strong suit is to attack fast and dodge. But in harder difficulties attack spamming will get you punished and killed by hard AI able to parry well. There is some gear to negate this reducing enemy parry chance but that is just RNG in the end. Better off using heavy armor and perfect parrying then counter attacking with a much harder swing. Your also less likely to die when you miss. Soul crystals becoming dim, the crystal needed to perform your special move. Given out like candy early and add a lot to combat. Without it there is only the one attack button. But in later difficulties they don't drop anymore and you have to go out of your way to purify them to use them. It kind of made the combat more stale by a bit. Although it added a sort of survival aspect and gave them incredible value, I enjoyed them being given out frequently beforehand. I really do like the idea of it but, they should of made it so that corpse components like hearts needed to be purified. Not soul crystals, using them in combat is just a lot of fun. Limiting that isn't as fun as resource managing them.

This game is obtuse and hard to understand even with the obtrusive tool-tips that take up the entire screen in the middle of you getting your ass kicked to let you know that you're getting your ass kicked. But once you get the hang of Corpse Master it's pretty rewarding and has good depth. If you think it looks/sounds interesting I believe you'll be happy if you stick with it, but it requires genuine effort to grasp. I don't know if they're intentionally going for Demon's Souls-esque mystique, but it definitely needs better on-boarding from the developers. I almost gave up out of confusion the first few times I loaded it up. More specifically about the game itself: There are some match-ups that seem unwinnable but I suppose that could just be the variance inherent to a roguelike. Still, it's frustrating when you find yourself in a match where you know you'll lose, no matter how many times you perfectly parry and land a combo on the opponent. I wouldn't say that's too common: generally speaking I think it plays well.
