It's been almost two months since the last update, and even now the map exploration area reset bug has not been fixed, I don't know how inefficient your production team is. Really, as many comments have said, your game production and planning have to give the art a few heads, such a beautiful art style can only become the biggest highlight of this game, the game's vicious bugs seriously affect the game experience, as well as the game's numerical planning problems and the game's operation logic problems, really can't help but scold you. 对了,我的推荐还是正向的,前期数值问题和地图bug几乎没有,但是完美的美术风格却是贯穿全程的,可以前期沉迷于此,后期出现问题后和我一样边玩边骂游戏制作。 By the way, my recommendation is still positive, there are almost no numerical problems and map bugs in the early stage, but the perfect art style is throughout the whole process, you can indulge in this in the early stage, and after problems occur in the later stage, you can scold the game production while playing. 2024.04.04-I was really, really touched. I have mentioned this game to many people on various platforms and chat software before, there is no Chinese, and the production team has updated it once after its release, and it has not moved for several months, there are many unbearable bugs in the game, but today's sudden big update, there are many new functions and Settings that I have not had time to enter the game, the most important one is Chinese. I can finally see what she's talking about without having to guess and translate. I had been busy studying before I hit the BOSS level, and now I can finally enjoy playing this incredibly good game again. I hope the production team can keep up the good work and make more games like this.

While this game doesn't feel as good, combat wise, as similar type games on the market, it makes up for it with it's story, charm and humor. The main character in this game is unique and unlike any other I've seen. The dialog between the main character and other characters is a joy to read at times. The game was a lot of fun to play, but also a little boring here and there. As stated above, the combat and parry system doesn't feel as clean as similar games I've played. I hardly ever had to use the light kicking attack, making them game play mostly heavy punches and parrying. While there is nothing wrong with that, I never really got much joy or felt powerful while killing enemies. I'm not the best at these games, and some of the bosses were very easy to kill, even for me. Especially the final boss, which should technically be the hardest; forcing you to put everything you unlocked and learned to the test. I see a lot of comments about making a harder difficulty, and I can agree that the game needs that for the players looking for a challenge. If you are looking for just a chill game play experience like me, then the difficulty is perfect.

This is an entertaining, 2D Metroidvania that feels like the spiritual mix of Earthworm Jim and Alien Hominid. The game's setting is decidedly cyberpunk, with an art style that leans heavily on off-colour humour. The main character is an robot named Cherry. Her sidekick is an artificial intelligence named Regina. Regina is shaped like a vulva and is grafted to Cherry's nethers in the same spot. All of that, is just the start. Developer Subcult has peppered each level with so much genitalia-themed art that it sometimes feels like a Georgia O'Keeffe gallery as seen through the eyes of H.R. Giger. This type of humour and atmosphere is right up my alley, but may turn off the more prudish. Along with the genital themes, the developers also showcased their love for punk and metal music. I spotted a few Tool album covers, along with Misfits, Slipknot, and a nod to Marilyn Manson in one of the main characters. Gameplay-wise, you will get the standard Metroidvania style of exploring the map and engaging with enemies in battle. Fights play out more like a beat-em up in that enemies always take a few hits before they die. Traversal mechanics incorporate timed jumps, dashes, and slides. Getting into battles is mostly fun, with the ever increasing move set (and power increase) encouraging you to try different moves with different enemy types. The only time fights get frustrating is in kill rooms where you need to take everyone out to progress. You will almost certainly die in at least a few of these rooms throughout the game. The issue is that the second everyone spawns in, you lose Cherry's location amidst the chaos. It's hard to jump away from a room full of suddenly spawned-in enemies when you aren't even sure where you are anymore. That the camera is often panned way back (to fit everyone on screen) just makes it easier to get lost. Platforming can also get a bit frustrating, especially in the more challenging spike rooms. Cherry's jump mechanics are a bit floaty and the game will occasionally either forget to register a mid-air dash, or treat a single jump off a ledge as two jumps. During my playthrough of the game, I did incur a few game bugs that required workarounds to get past, and even full-on restarts to break out of. Some of the problems were text boxes not appearing in "cut scenes", requiring a full reset of the game to fix, or getting locked out of a kill room because I was punched through a wall. The most consistent bug I encountered was with the teleporters. The initial flash from entering the teleporter sometimes gets stuck, leaving me with a big, bright pink screen that won't leave. The teleport menu is still active at this point, but I can't see it. The only way to fix it is to use muscle memory to teleport to anywhere else in the game (causing the load screen to appear). All of these bugs can be fixed with subsequent patches, so your mileage will vary. In summary, Cookie Cutter is a blast to play with fun combat and an interesting cyberpunk storyline. There are some slight bugs to the game, and the off-colour humour / art style may turn off the more prudish, but if you like metal / punk and enjoy a good Metroid-ish beat-em up, then by all means give this one a shot.

It's first 30 minutes seem to be alright, I mean the combat's a little clanky and the death penalty is non existant. My only pet peeve is that at any moment, THE SOUND JUST TURNS OFF, and it could be anything, cutscenes, dialogue, bgm, anything. It always requires a restart. I'll give the developers the benefit of the doubt and that this game just released a few days ago. But please, if you're gonna fix anything, FIX THE AUDIO! Otherwise, great game! It's not revolutionary, but it's decent for the price.

Cookie Cutter is a sicknasty metroidvania with a fantastic cyborg-punk aesthetic - which I love - and solid gameplay and storytelling. This indy game lacks some polish and has quite a few bugs, aswell as being a bit rough around the edges in terms of its attention to detail, but it makes up for that with heaps of style, energy, and beautiful hand drawn animation. It feels a lot like playing Bastion when it came out; I will watch these developers closely and see what they come up with in the future. I don't tend to get along too well with MV games but this was very approachable for me and I managed to complete it thanks to its generous checkpoints and consequence-free deaths balancing out the punishing difficulty in a tidy 17 hours. Better gamers will do it in less. I cant really speak to the quality of the design of this sort of game so I will focus on the story. The story is fairly solid: not cookie cutter atall but quite original. heh. I bet all the paid reviewers will be making that joke. Calling it now. Anyway, there's a cool lesbian romance and while there's a lot of humour to the design and aesthetic it really nails the drama and it plays it straight when it needs to and this really strengthens the whole. Seeing the Tank Girl influence here. The Corporation is a dull name for a great concept. Defeating death by putting human souls in machines bound to service is a fantastic concept, and you really feel that vibe especially in the game's first area. The characters are all very vibrant and really feel like they have a life outside of the game. Whats there in the interactions is fleshed out by text logs, but honestly the art design of the characters does more for me in telling their stories than a pile of audio logs ever could. There's voice acting at the very start, for the opening CS and a couple of the missions, which gives you a flavour of what the characters sound like, but it looks like the game doesn't have full VA, which is a real shame because it would rock if it did. That said, I didn't miss it. The character designs have so much personality that I feel like I know what they'd sound like just from their animations. Speaking of the animations, they're all fantastic. Watching cherry rip a robots organs out its mouth with a wicked little grin on her face is enough to stop me from wondering why the robots have organs. This game about robots manages to be on a similar level of gore to Gears of War, which is honestly great and I love it. Cover me in that viscera, Cookie Cutter. Should you buy this game? I think if you enjoy Hewlettesque Punk, Lesbians, old school 2D animation, gore, soul-cyborgs or (I assume) metroidvania, this game is for you, and I think this is definitely a developer to give some money to.
