First of all, game is awesome. The gameplay isnt easy in my opinion and is challenging and takes a tiny bit to get used to but after you do, you start enjoying it way more. I like how most weapons feel different varying from reload green bar length/position to getting knocked back while shooting changing from weapon to weapon its pretty fun. Only bug ive encountered so far was when held gun it thrown away while reloading the reload ui freezes and stays on top of your character but this isnt a game breaking bug at all. Only thing i find being a problem is some character obtainments require the wiki and would probably be better if stated inside the game.
This game is fun, I think it would be great as a 3ds game. Please add weather events that like, switch color pallete to like deep blues and cyans or like a sunset event that increases the redness. Maybe like an area that is lush with greenery and its like an open field, think game would be great as an open world too lowkey I just love the sytyle
Review after 100% After pouring my heart, patience and 40 hours of my life into Colt Canyon, I can safely claim that it is quite fun western game. It’s short, satisfying and extremely frustrating for anyone who aims at a 100% completion. It’s a top-down shooting game where you explore 9 stages (and defeat three bosses at the end of each biome), you choose a character and explore each level while mowing down bandits, rogue cowboys, slavers and wild animals. Combat is responsive and sharp, killing enemies is very rewarding. Aiming, shooting and hitting feels completely under your control. The sound effects are a joy for your ears, reaping foes and leaving trails of cadavers and blood behind, while you struggle to survive The roguelike progress is allocated only in the choosing of the starting weapon and the characters, which you’ll unlock both as you slowly play with that specific character. During the campaign you can hold maximum two weapons, said weapons are divided in melee and guns which the latter fall in four categories: Light bullets (like pistols), shotgun bullets (Like shotguns) and hard bullets (such as rifles). As always not all of these guns are equal, many are technically better at killing foe; for example a shotgun is perfect for groups of enemies as well as single adversaries. Melee weapons are mostly useless since they break after multiple uses, yet advantageous during stealth. The power ups that you can obtain during a run are also quite simple really (From obtaining more hearts to a new ally) they won’t break your run they are useful to survive, and you can still perish even with the convenient ones. In terms of replay value it doesn’t change much after you concluded a single run, the bosses, the biomes and the enemies are always the same; the replay value is given by how arduous to complete the game is, currently only 5,5% of players have obtained an achievement for finishing a run without dying. Although one mechanic hasn’t much depth, stealth is just hiding in tall grass (if there are any) behind rocks and just attack or surpass enemies from behind while they aren’t watching. I recommend it if you are searching for a simple and challenging western roguelike, it’s great pastime game to empty your mind. … Ok now this section here it’s for anyone who wants to play Colt Canyon hellishly, meaning aiming for a 100% completion. My consideration on this part, is that Colt Canyon can be unforgivably frustrating. Certain achievements require a massive amount of luck, patience and skill. Shadow walker for example requires you to reach the bandits area without getting spotted and this is such a pain with the aforementioned stealth, since you cannot actually hide, enemies will manage to see you from miles, and you have to hope and pray that your hiding spot is actually fruitful. Five man army necessitates luck RNG. And so on, I don’t think the gameplay per se is unfair, since most of the deaths were my fault for not seeing a trap or dodge a bullet but the achievements will test your patience and will to continue. I cannot even describe myself as an expert on this game since even after 30+ hours I discovered that you can ride certain horses (albeit useless imo) or that there are special weapons variants that I never used. If you are planning to go for a completionist route, just prepare yourself mentally, since you will see the game over screen many times.
