This game isn't awful, but it has a lot of strange decisions that make me question the design choices in the game. By default, enemies take a huge amount of damage to die and as you progress through a run you find yourself emptying multiple shots into enemies without a clear indication if they'll die or not. Bullets seem to also do random damage on hit, so what would normally kill x enemy type in 1 shot may sometimes take 2. There's also a stealth mechanic in the game, but at higher levels you can't really silent take down enemies unless you fully spec into melee / stealth as you do a "critical" hit, but the enemies health pool is normally way too high and again, you do different damage so its never consistent on what you can and can't do. Later levels become a slog as enemies take so many bullets to die, and you will occasionally run out of bullets without any guns / weapons dropping in the zone causing you to run around and hope to find a barrel or a chest with a few rounds of ammo so you can kill one enemy and hopefully find more rounds from them. Enemy health is fully customizable in the difficulty settings, but by default the enemies just have way too much health and it makes playing the game at later levels a slog to get through. Messing with the difficulty of the game removes achievements / leaderboards access from your runs, but you can technically do whatever you want with the games difficulty. Movement is also clunky and you'll occasionally find yourself getting stuck on a small branch or rock as you are fighting 10-15 enemies and trying to dodge a flurry of bullets coming your way, due to the art-style it makes it really hard to differentiate small objects in the terrain that can impact your movement further leading to more frustrations with the gameplay. The game is nothing revolutionary, and would be a "recommend" from me on a deep sale. The game is close to being really good, but some strange design decisions make it a hard recommend for me at full-price and it's decent for what it is but there are other games that do this concept better.

I played more on console overall. I had low expectations and for it to be honest. Ended up really enjoying this one with the roommates for several runs and it is still fun to pop in on occasion.
