I love this game. It's a Minecraft/Tower Defense hybrid in the best way. Something is wrong however with the way the game saves files to the steam cloud. Twice now I've lost 2+ hours of gameplay from day to day.

This is ultimately a resource management game (at least it is if you play it the way I'd recommend playing it, which is cranking the difficulty up to maximum). Some people complain about how easy it is to "cheese" the zombies, which simply are trying to walk the most efficient path to get to your flag (or any colonists they can reach), so you cheese them with simple zig-zags and traps and so forth. But how you kill the zombies is not really the point. This isn't 7 Days to Die. The zombies are dumb and predictable and you are supposed to be cheesing them. The difficulty is in the resource management because no amount of cheese will help you when it's 4am and you have just run out of any ammo type. And you realize there has been a miscalculation somewhere in your production lines and you ran out of something that impacted your ammo production (or you just miscalculated how much more ammo you would need after a big threat jump). The game doesn't really throw a lot of surprises at you. But it does a good job of encouraging you to continually ramp up and, in doing so, increasing your peril and chances to make a mistake. To ramp up, you need better science. To get better science, you will need to expand in various ways. Expanding in various ways will increase your threat, giving you more zombies. So the gameplay loop is basically teching up while trying to monitor your production across several major areas of resources, the failure of any one of which will doom your colony. I'm playing it on the hardest setting and while it was easy at first, it can get very challenging. (One example: I got wiped because I wasn't make enough arrows to get through each night and didn't notice the problem fast enough. I had plenty of raw copper. I had plenty of fletchers. I had plenty of smelters. What I didn't notice was my wood demands had gotten ahead of my woodcutters and the smelters were not running full time, which cascaded into a lack of arrows.) The game comes with kind of an "oh sh**" button that will blast all the zombies but your use of this button is pretty limited so if you have to use it once, you will have a narrow window to fix whatever the problem was. If things get bad enough, you will basically just find yourself in an unrecoverable state: your threat is too high and you can no longer get your feet underneath you again. Time to start over! And I find starting over to be fun too. Kinda like Rimworld, in that sense. I enjoy managing an established colony but thinking about how I'll do it better NEXT time has me looking forward to it. I do think that the lack of variety of threats and challenges will limit gameplay (versus Rimworld which threatens you in many different ways) but it's a fun little building and management game.

11/10, highly addicting; requires some brainpower, but is easy to master. It is fun watching all your serf- i meant colonists work for you. You get to also fight zombies with dark-age weaponry, which is awesome. Doesn't require a NASA computer to run, and a twist to a voxel game. I would reccomend this game to somebody like me, who sometimes likes a chill game to play and likes sandbox games.

Not going to let this game go unnoticed anymore, as far as it goes, this game is amazing, the Devs are dedicated and on point to things their community wants. That's already more than most companies these days. Factory/city management simulation done really well, its honestly very peaceful and enjoyable. The threats scale with your population and the designs are limitless, your colony can starve and you have to rebuild it, making outposts and sending resources to friends in the same game. freedom to build so much and enjoy yourself. I have had this game for years, i use it to scratch and itch for a game thats not out there yet, but this game, is becoming more and more like my ideal game, building/city management/horde survival/exploration. One day it will be finished
