Essential VN for drama lovers. --MY ROUTE RANKINGS-- Of course Nagisa has the best story in all of them. For second place I would say Kotomi's route. Club activities and the story of her was fun (in drama aspect too) Can't realy decide on third place, Fuko and Kyou's route were equally fun. (not gonna mention Ryou because Kyou's route mostly contained Ryou) Rest of the routes are good too but I'm not gonna rank them. (And I can't say "I liked this route least", because all routes were fun)

Clannad is a weird VN to me, because it manages to have so many high and low points at the same time. A big part of it is made up of a very hit-or-miss slice of life story and I was sometimes confused why it has the high rating it does. Then once you have managed to see all of the slice of life things (and probably have had to find a guide online to achieve that) you finally reach the after story, which deserves all the praise it gets. In the end I would definitely recommend Clannad to everyone, but be aware that you will have to read a lot before getting to the more impactful moments.

This game works perfectly on Steam Deck, I didn't encounter any issues. I don't know why it says unsupported.

Like most people writing the review's I grew up watching the CLANNAD anime during my early high-school days. Back then, I knew the story was well written and emotional but I also thought, "this isn't any different from a sad romance I've experienced in the past". It's funny people say reading the VN will change your life, it says a lot about a person when they feel so deeply towards the story. I, of course, am one of those people! When I completed the first ending, I'd actually forgotten almost all the details of the story from the anime, it slowly came back after meeting all the character's. One aspect I remember like crystal was the music, the second Nagisa's theme played my body reacted so strongly I though I was being tased 100 times! I thought whom ever composed this music must be second to God. I never thought sound could hold so much power over me. I prefer the VN over the anime (due to the depth the characters are explored and I also love to read). I didn't mind that it was slow, I still have a long ways to go till I've completed all ending's but unfortunately I don't have the luxury of playing games 12 hours a day anymore. I will admit, I don't like it when Tomoya takes interest in other girls, I just want him to stay with Nagisa. I don't have a strong reason for thinking that except they seem too perfect for each other that they should belong to each other in every world-line. I am enjoying playing through the VN slowly as it add's joy to the time I can sit down to play. If you don't like that the game is slow then just skip the parts you think are meaningless, like every time Sunohara talk's about females melons for 5mins on-and-on.. or just anytime Sunohara talks at all! My final rating of the game is 100,000,000,000/10 Thank you to the developers and writers for making this masterpiece. Every hours spent, line read, ending reached has bought me closer to understanding the meaning and purpose of life and how fragile humans are. Just kidding don't believe that last part, this game changed my life not because of any life lesson's but being able to sit down and lose myself in a different world and feel what the character's feel is pretty cool.

Kotomi: "Do you want to eat paper?" (real quote from the VN) I picked up this visual novel after having already seen the anime adaption of CLANNAD and After Story (that was a very emotional experience, everyone needs to watch it). It's hard to find words to describe how I feel about this visual novel so far. It's beautiful. The way the art mixes with the music as the text is presented. The writing is excellent. Tomoya's inner thoughts are expressed very well (something missing from the anime) and you really get a feeling for how he perceives the different characters, and you will be drawn further into the world of CLANNAD. Any time there is a scene where you are close to one of the characters, Tomoya's thoughts are shown at length and the pace slows right down so you can get emotional. The voice acting is excellent (all characters are voiced, except for Tomoya because that's you!). Same VA's as the anime so it feels very natural. The music softly fades in and out slightly as the voice lines are spoken. As for the localisation, it's very good. I understand some Japanese and I promise you that the English localisation is spot on! Dangopedia is a great addition to help explain terms that may be unfamiliar - at any point you can bring up the pause menu (right click) and check it. I now understand why visual novels are popular. I wont be able to stop until I get every route completed. This is my first visual novel and I'm hooked already. It's a little expensive at full price but this VN is packed with content - so it's definitely worth the price.
