As you can see by my 800+ hours, I love this game. Do not be fooled by the Rimworld-esque aesthetic design; this is no clone. Living my best cozy life in Medieval Scotland, guiding my clan through famine, storms, and inter-faction rivalry, watching the firelight through the windows and the children playing their instruments while the family hound sleeps by the hearth... instant relaxation and joy. The developer updates regularly, communicates well, and has a Discord set up for beta testing. The game is in a working, balanced state with a lot of replayability even in Early Access, and every update has added really interesting gameplay elements/mechanics. The beaver update was especially awesome. Note that there is no real "combat' at this point, and whatever might come will not be true war. Given the historical devastation of actual Scottish clan feuds, it's not a goal of the developer to create a full war system; the planned emphasis is to remain on diplomacy and alternate outcomes. That is not a problem for me (I think it's a bonus), but some players may be unhappy with the overall lack of violence. I recommend this game to anyone who's ever tied a blanket around their waist, faked a Scottish accent, and pretended to be wandering the moors. It's my favorite comfort game, and there's a good chance it'll be yours, too.

If Rimworld was your ex and Clanfolk is your new boo, I advise you not to search qualities your ex has in your new partner. Let go of the expectation that your new one can replace your ex because it's a totally different person. Is that analogy easier to understand? The Discord community of Clanfolk is very active and engaged with the Dev, join the discord server and be part of it! Yes it is in Early Access but bugs are constantly tended to and new updates are regularly made.

This game is one of the best of its kind. The developer knows what he is doing. All systems work reliably. The amount of content is huge. It took me 20 hours to reach iron tools which in my opinion is a very good value for my money. The villagers are super cute. Their behavior is realistic. They have several needs to take care of. It is super fun to build their homes, prepare food, make clothes, take care of the livestock, decorate and make them happy. After 20 hours I am one day away from entering my first winter, which I prepared for. Winter has arrived. The weather effects are of the highest quality and provide wonderful immersion. You start to really worry about your characters. Drink, wash and go to the toilet in blowing snow and temperatures below zero. At this point I have to say that Clanfolk is now the winner for me in terms of immersion. If you love Rimworld, Dwarf Fortress, Odd Realm, you will love this as well. After 40 hours of play, I find myself in midsummer. After I had too little straw and seeds for the chickens in the winter, I planted large fields. My eldest son left us to marry a woman from a neighboring clan. We have trouble cultivating the fields. I hire field workers to survive. I sell adult chickens and iron tools to the traders to pay the workers. We finally managed to build proper walls around the poopholes. The grain store and the oven are ready to finally bake bread. We have enough grain. Maybe it's better to save the grain for the winter. The entire life of the clan feels very realistic. Expanding the village little by little to create more comfort and security is a lot of fun. I avoid playing the game in fast speed to enjoy the atmosphere.

Can't really remember the tutorial of Rimworld, but some pyromaniac decided to blow up the chemfuel and...yeah Rimworld things. Nothing of that here. But this reminded me of that experience. It is a nicer, more leaned-back version of Rimworld with a clear progression, no surprises, things are slower, you might even catch yourself knowing the names of your pawns. It is a light version of Rimworld with very limited replayability. Like a tutorial for...the real thing. Without the explosions. Fun for a time, not worth 30 bucks at this stage though

My Situation: I love playing colony sims, but after hundreds of hours in Rimworld, I've been trying for over a year to get back into it. However, I lose interest again after just a few hours of attempting to restart. As a player, I game to momentarily escape, seeking another world to immerse myself in. I've tried different games in this genre, including this one a few years back, but I always thought, "Ah, Rimworld did X better," and ended up starting Rimworld again and drop it and so on. Now, with two weeks off, I gave it another shot, and it finally satisfied the itch I've had for so long. Why did it work this time? 1. I began with just one colonist instead of a whole family, which prevented me from feeling overwhelmed. 2. There's no advanced technology, but a massive tech tree with a fantastic progression system. Repeated actions lead to new skills (e.g., crafting 100 logs lets you build a storage for them, then move on to making planks, etc.). While modern technology is absent, the medieval technology is well-developed and fleshed out. 3. I've grown really attached to my pawns and animals. The animals help heat the room slightly, so we don't freeze, and my pawn can talk to them, fulfilling his social needs. 4. Seasons feel authentic. I prepare for winter in autumn, plow fields in spring, and enjoy the rain-free summers that make everyone happier and more productive. 5. There's a good dose of realism. Colonists need to use the toilet, drink water (risking poisoning from unclean lake water until you build a well), and food spoils if not stored properly. The primary challenge here is battling the environment rather than enemies. 6. Updates: The game receives constant updates, reflecting the developers' passion and dedication. In short, this game lets me escape into a cozy world where I can build, plan, and form attachments. You create your own stories and build your clan. Most importantly, it's incredibly fun. I recommend giving it a real chance – be warned, you might find yourself sinking hundreds of hours into it
