Short and sweet, Circuits is a relaxing puzzle/music game. Easy to learn and complete in one sitting. It also comes with a composer mode! I really enjoyed this game. Devs seem to be Spanish, so I don't really mind the few grammatical errors. They don't really get in the way of anything. Difficulty ramps up pretty well. However, the last three levels did not use as many of the mechanics as I was hoping. The difficulty plateaus shortly after introducing the final mechanic.

Circuits is one of that games made for you to sit back, relax. It works the musical intelligence and we can hear in the tiny details how much meticulous his composer was - sometimes even naughty to get us making a mistake hahah. I don’t believe it’s a game for everyone, however it’s worth the try. I confess that I have not adventured into Composer because I know I’d stay there forever! Regarding the game design, congratulations to the developer team, these 3 guys reached the pinnacle of minimalism, impeccable programing, worthy of an AppleAwards!

Thought I finished this one before, but the achievements say otherwise. Last time I played is about the time my other computer conked out, so that might be why I didn't finish. Can't think of why I else I would stop before Level 15 (of 25). This one took me almost exactly the expected 5 hours. So I took about 12 minutes per level, although the first ones go by fast and the last ones can be pretty tough. I only used the game's "auto-save after each level" functionality. (That is, I didn't ever quit a level halfway through.) I probably found the game through a Steam sale. Minimal game settings (graphics, resolution) are in a menu before launch. In-game main menu only shows Game, Credits and Quit options. As for gameplay, players reassemble a song -- jigsaw puzzle style -- from samples that come in up to three groups per level: vocals, drums, melody, chorus, etc. Song genres are mixed, with themes of electronic, house, and romantic piano. Some artists I was reminded of were Eiffel65 and Aphex Twin. Controls are click, drag, and hold. Samples are glowing neon circles categorized by color. An intuitive neon fuse lets players know what empty or filled positions in the blueprint are being played at a given time. Visuals and airy feel of game matched its sounds/music perfectly. There are two modes: (1) What the song should sound like and (2) what the player's workspace sounds like. The big play button in the center is the player's, and I sometimes got it confused with the other smaller play button at the bottom of the screen. You advance to the next level when you play your workspace and it sounds like the example. I think I would have liked a third "practice" mode before "submit," but I feel more accomplished getting some achievements like The sixth sense this way. (And I could kind of mimic a "practice" mode by touching placed segments.) You can listen to all groups at once (including background instrumentation) or in channels of individual groups. Found this useful for separating some of the softer sounds from louder ones. New mechanics like loops are introduced incrementally, so no learning curve. There are limited hints to help players complete the level if they get stuck. There are two types of hints. One places a sample correctly. (I didn't use that one much.) The other tells players which placed samples have something wrong with them. This could mean the sample is in the wrong place or that it is not repeated the correct number of times, which can be tricky to suss out when samples sound similar. (Strategy kind of reminded me of the board game Mastermind .) Didn't notice any bugs, and final song feels final. Got all achievements but the last two. Think I could have gotten The Cake is a Lie if I used channels instead of hints in the earlier levels -- no channels in last two levels . Golden Ear will be tough. I look forward to replaying though. I didn't get Turbo achievement until this playthrough, which means I was probably always playing the songs without using "fast forward." Very pleasant music.
