Kinda unique for a survivors-like/bullet heaven game, and actually pretty fun. Different weapons, power-ups, useful stat upgrades during runs (some with penalty, e.g. +20%X but -10%Y) and a lot of meta game upgrades (permanent stat boosts, additional locomotives, power-ups unlock etc.), optional hard mode, six maps. Cheap, satisfying, addicting and not-so-little game.

Started this game not expecting much (more than another Vampire Survivor clone.) Nine hours later, still playing and enjoying Choo Choo Survivor, which is kinda unique enough to keep a small amount of my ever-flickering interest. It's a fairly mindless game, that I have played mostly while watching Netflix (seen Baby Reindeer?), not really a game that demands attention. Like most games in this genre, they are minimally skill based, not much more than achievement clickers that weave a gaming illusion... to make the player feel like they are accomplishing tasks. If you like tinkering while watching television, this is for you.

if you've become a fan of the Survivors-like boom like me, you probably have tried quite a few bargain-bin picks. Choo Choo Survivor is a simple, yet fun addition to the lineup. the major difference between this and others is that this one has only 2 directions of motion: forward and reverse. unlike most survivors-like games that can be played with only wasd or directional arrows (+space/enter for selection, ctrl, etc additional things optional); this game can be played exclusively with the mouse. not a mindblowing thing, but it is something simple that I havent seen done yet, and the controls are responsive. the graphics are basic, everything is in this sepia tone/filter like it's FONV, the UI is basic, the title font at the main menu is basic, the upgrade system is straight forward, the weapons each feel fun enough and I appreciate the option of selecting from 4 targeting modes for each weapon slot. and yet there almost feels a hand-crafted quality to the individual models for each of the enemies, the trains, the weapons and their effects that is endearing. but most important of all: it's fun! not like mindblowing-fun, but it's entertaining and can have challenging moments. I'd recommend picking it up if you're looking for the occasional distraction or if it's on sale.
