Good game, enjoyed it from the start to last of endings. But to get it properly you have to understand - it's NOT First Person Shooter :-) It's interactive story - decent one, with stealh, resource gathering and crafting - but through all game your will be reminded that shooting at people is wrong. Story, music/sounds, graphics - very good. Characters interesting, plot is intriguing and make you anxious to find all the answers. Great feature of the game - special system to almost instant remake all your choices made through whole story, and get different result if you wish so without spending hours of replay. So if you like sci-fi apocaliptic stories - recommend you to try it :-)

It got repetitive in the last third, as I found myself having to visit the same area 3 times in a row with no other reward than to finish the mission. Up until then it never bothered me, but as I had finished exploring the entire game, it became too routine and too fetch questy. I ended up doing a long string of missions where I had all the resources I could ever need, ran past everything in my way and just pushed to end the game asap. Progression is strange, you can technically get end game weapons and armor if you just beeline it to those items. You'd suffer in other aspects, but you could still do it. I only ever used the starting revolver, the railgun throughout, and ended up building a fully upgraded AK and finished the last part with it. The Zone is sad (but in a good way), and you spend a lot of time pondering what happened to the people of Pripyat, and what it must have been like to go through the disaster first hand. The developers obviously wanted to put a lot of weight on authenticity when it comes to the world around you, and it shows. Sometimes it's beautiful, sometimes it's scary, sometimes it's awful. Base building is cool albeit simple and a bit lacklustre, resource gathering is pretty good, to hell with mushrooms. Listen, get a mushroom farm started, it's important. The way a simple kindergarden could hold so much significance. Holy.. The dolls get stupid after a few encounters, I get the metaphor, but why rely so heavily on them, they're EVERYWHERE. Jump scares are bullshit, I only got got like.. 2 times (very heavily got got), despite several attempts both before and after, the game could have easily leaned more on atmosphere and spook and made it out really well. The game allows you to control your choices in the world, your fate and the fate of your companions. Choices matter and it's refreshing, and even if it's simple, it is executed very well mechanically. The story isn't anything groundbreaking, but it kept me wanting to finish the game and connect the dots till the ending. Combat could be a lot better, but sneaking gameplay is surprisingly decent, but becomes trivial near the end at normal difficulty. Combat is handled kinda weird here. Guns feel okay, but getting shot is very punishing, especially by certain enemies. Taking cover is mandatory, as enemies will always shoot you if they have a line of sight, no matter how insignificant, but hey the game has functional leaning! Graphically, while not amazing, it's everything but bad, certain things are quite impressive. Just don't expect it to be optimized and be prepared to run at lower settings to keep a decent FPS, even with a better system. Be prepared to have a bipolar ghost play ping pong between gaslighting and supporting you, it will never shut up, and you can't make it either. Like it or not, this is your life now. Overall, it's a B-tier game, but it's worth picking up and it's fun. If you played Sniper Ghost Warrior 3 and enjoyed it, I suspect you'll feel right at home here. It's ambitious, it's great in certain places and has clear flaws in others, but overall I'm happy with my experience. It took 27 hours to finish with all findables and achievements, and with going back and redoing missions or redoing choices. I especially reloaded a lot while being frugal in the base building early on. Radios are your friend.

If you're expecting something like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., Metro, or Fallout, you might be slightly disappointed. However, if you appreciate Chernobylite for its unique charm, you'll find it to be an enjoyable experience. 스토커, 메트로, 폴아웃, 체르노빌라이트, 렛츠고.

Just finished it on hard difficulty having concluded 3 game endings and it's a pretty good game that I don't think it got the attention it deserved! Feeling wise it has Stalker/Metro vibe and gameplay is a mix of shooter/stealth/exloration/survival kinda game. Pros ==== + Story + Choices + an interesting mechanism on how to affect it which haven't seen in any other game (also implemented in a lore friendly / realistic way). + Weapon customization + Characters. Interesting characters with lots of backstories on them plus combined with the choices lots of alternative paths to explore. + Music/Sounds. Very nicely designed to fit all scenes and places. + Voice Acting. I don't know russian but man it feels immersive! + Graphics / Atmosphere / Level Design. It really makes you feel like you are in the "Zone" + Base Building (nothing fancy but still) Neutral ===== ~ Skills. Nice addon but could use more skills and variety. ~ QoL things missing e.g. multiple items crafting ~ Wish base stuff had more impact etc. ~ Black Boi. Nice addon but gets tiring after a while and no reward for eliminating him. ~ Some minor bugs e.g. flying objects ~ Should have made use of environmental destruction and hazards ~ Some choices make no sense e.g. having to choose between two when realistically you could have done both. Cons ==== - Enemy AI. Although not too bad, the aiming makes things quite unrealistic especially in dense bush/forest areas. - Weapon Variety. Wish it had grenades, sniper rifle maybe some sort of grenade launcher or at least weapon variations of existing ones. - Enemy Variety. It could easily support a bigger variety of both human and creatures. Conclusion: Definitely worths playing and I would love to see an expansion or sequel/prequel with more stuff!

If I have one piece of advice, it's: don't go in expecting S.T.A.L.K.E.R. because this is closer akin to something like Metal Gear Solid 3 (the stealth game play) mixed with base and squad management mechanics. The similarities to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. are pretty surface deep. Do I recommend it? Yes, it's a good game, with decent graphics, fun, sometimes challenging gameplay, and a surprisingly great, Shakespearian tragedy / cosmic horror story. Saying more would give too much away, so I won't talk much about the story. The game does have some flaws though. The Good -The story is excellent, tragic, and mind-bending. -Good cosmic horror, which is rare. Not very scary, but more thought provoking. -The graphics are great, and some of the Pripyat locations have never looked better in a game. This team also made a "Pripyat/Chernobyl VR" game, so the detail is top-notch. -The weapons are mostly fun to use and customizeable. -The base building mechanic is simple, but fun. -The characters are quirky and entertaining while still being believable and interesting. -No major bugs, errors or glitches encountered in over 30 hours of play. The Bad -The stealth mechanics are a bit under-baked. It's tough to do good stealth in first person, but I feel the "spotting" mechanic they added here is a bit too easy once you learn how it works. -The twists and turns in the story are a little bit predictable if you're paying attention to the clues. -The enemy variety is quite low, with only 3 to 4 human type enemies, and 2 to 3 mutant type enemies. -The survival mechanisms are a bit under-cooked as well. -There are plenty of customization options, but two of the guns feel outright bad. I was surprised at how weak the shotgun is, and the game's "BFG" type weapon is just completely useless. The crossbow is also just okay. -None of the characters' faces are animated. This is a bit of a superficial complaint, but everyone is wearing a mask, except the one character who isn't animated at all. -Some of the English voice acting has mistakes in pronunciations. Conclusion Overall, I think this game is worth the recommendation. Sure, some of the mechanics are underdeveloped, and there isn't a ton of variety. What is here though is entertaining and interesting. I'd say pick it up on sale if you're unsure. For a first game from an independent, self-published studio, this is very impressive!
