Cat on a Diet, developed by Nawia Games and published by Forever Entertainment S.A., is a lighthearted and charming physics-based puzzle game that combines humor, clever design, and a satisfyingly simple premise. It follows the misadventures of Dr. Meow, an adorably plump cat whose sweet tooth and insatiable hunger for cookies lead him into a series of elaborate, often precarious situations. The goal is simple—help Dr. Meow reach the cookie jar—but the path to success is anything but straightforward. Through dozens of cleverly designed levels, players are challenged to think creatively, manipulating the environment to guide the rotund feline to his prize while navigating obstacles, physics-driven contraptions, and occasionally chaotic outcomes. The result is a puzzle experience that feels both accessible and delightfully unpredictable, blending whimsy with a surprising degree of tactical thought. At its core, Cat on a Diet operates on familiar principles reminiscent of genre staples like Cut the Rope or Where’s My Water? Each level begins with Dr. Meow positioned in a fixed area surrounded by barriers, planks, buttons, magnets, and other interactive objects. By clicking, swiping, or breaking specific elements, players create a chain reaction that sends Dr. Meow tumbling, rolling, and bouncing toward the coveted cookie jar. The joy of the game lies in discovering the correct sequence of actions—cutting the right rope, breaking the correct board, or triggering the right switch at just the right time. The physics system ensures that every movement feels organic, and though it occasionally introduces unpredictability, this spontaneity adds character and humor to each attempt. Success often comes not from sheer precision but from experimentation, rewarding players who approach each puzzle with curiosity rather than rigidity. The game’s presentation is one of its strongest points. The visuals are bright, inviting, and full of personality. Dr. Meow himself is an irresistibly expressive protagonist—his rolling eyes, exaggerated tumbles, and gleeful reactions make even failed attempts entertaining. The background art shifts from cozy homes to dark attics and mysterious laboratories, ensuring that the environments remain visually fresh even after hours of play. The color palette is warm and cartoonish, perfectly suited to its lighthearted tone. The sound design complements the visuals with cheerful music and playful sound effects. Every crack of a plank, metallic clink, or triumphant “meow” helps sustain the game’s buoyant energy. Together, the aesthetics and audio create an atmosphere that is both soothing and stimulating, making it easy to lose track of time while playing “just one more level.” Beyond its visual charm, Cat on a Diet offers a surprising degree of depth in its puzzle design. Early levels serve as simple introductions to the mechanics, allowing players to learn how to manipulate gravity, use magnets, and manage timed actions. As the game progresses, new tools and hazards are introduced, gradually increasing complexity. Some stages require managing multiple moving parts in quick succession, while others depend on careful timing or understanding how momentum will carry Dr. Meow’s rotund body through narrow spaces. Optional challenges, such as collecting all muffins or completing levels within specific constraints, provide incentives for replay and mastery. These additional objectives transform what could have been a casual mobile-style experience into a more satisfying test of logic and skill. Even when a solution feels obvious, achieving it efficiently often demands finesse and foresight. Still, the game is not without its limitations. Because Cat on a Diet’s appeal rests largely on its physics and environmental manipulation, the core gameplay loop can occasionally feel repetitive. Some of the later puzzles rely on near-perfect timing or extremely precise movements, which can lead to frustration, especially when minor physics quirks cause outcomes to vary unexpectedly. While the physics engine is mostly consistent, it is not flawless—sometimes objects collide or bounce in ways that defy logic, forcing players to restart a level despite executing the correct strategy. Additionally, while the variety of settings and mechanics is commendable, the basic formula—help the cat reach the cookie—does not evolve dramatically over time. For those seeking long-term novelty, the repetition may eventually set in, though the game’s brevity and pacing ensure that it rarely overstays its welcome. From a value standpoint, Cat on a Diet delivers a generous amount of content. With over a hundred levels spread across several themed chapters, it offers hours of entertainment, and completionists will find plenty of replayability in mastering each stage’s secondary challenges. The addition of collectible costumes for Dr. Meow adds a layer of playful personalization, giving players small goals outside of puzzle-solving. These elements help maintain engagement and give the game a sense of progression without overwhelming its simple charm. The performance on PC is stable and fluid, with quick load times and responsive controls that translate smoothly from its mobile origins. While its roots as a mobile puzzle game are evident in its structure and interface, the transition to Steam feels natural, and the crisp presentation benefits from higher resolutions and consistent performance on modern systems. Cat on a Diet succeeds because it understands exactly what it wants to be—a cheerful, snack-sized puzzle game that offers moments of both satisfaction and laughter. It doesn’t aim for epic scope or narrative complexity; instead, it celebrates simplicity, accessibility, and the universal appeal of trial and error. Every level delivers a small burst of accomplishment, every stumble of Dr. Meow invites a smile, and every success feels earned through a mix of logic and playfulness. Though its repetition and occasional physics quirks prevent it from standing among the very best of its genre, it remains an undeniably charming and well-crafted experience. For fans of casual puzzle games, Cat on a Diet is a delightful treat—an easy-to-digest, polished, and humorous adventure that captures the mischievous joy of watching a determined cat chase after cookies, one clever puzzle at a time. A Cat Puzzle Game With Physics Effects What this game is: A cat themed puzzle game, with physics effects. How does it work? You need to solve various setups in order to allow a cat to eat muffins and then end in a cookie jar. Each setup has the cat sitting in a position it must leave in order to get to the cookie jar. Success is defined by having removed all three muffins from the setup and having the cat in the cookie jar. The setups may have different conditions applied to the definition of success: e.g. some have timers, some must be solved in a minimum number of actions. You have to solve 4 groups of setups (each with 24 setups) in order to have access to the bonus level, for a total of 128 setups. You also have to find different types of headgear (hats and masks) for the cat. How does it perform? Easy to play. This game is intuitive but requires sometimes some serious thinking. Because of the random effect of your actions, you may have to repeat some setups a big number of time before you can get the three stars and solve the setup in a satisfactorily fashion. The good points: Absorbing game. It has a good accompanying music that can be shut off in the game settings if it hinders your concentration. Some of the setups are quite demanding, but most are not that difficult. There are achievements, and getting them is not effortless but very much feasible . Please note that in order to get access to the last setups, you must make sure you have gotten three stars in all previous setup groups. It has good setings allowing you to change screen size and toggle on/off the music and sound effects. The game takes less than 70 MB on your HD, and will run on a 10 years old PC. The price asked of it is fair. You should get more than 10 hours of play out of it. It has Steam Trading Cards. The bad points: Because of the random nature of the physics effects in the game (effects caused by your actions), some setups are likely to be frustrating because of the number of times you will have to restart the level (setup) in order to solve it in a satisfactorily manner (getting to three stars). The mechanics of movements is too random in a few setups that are more complex than the average one in this game. The cat is more like a rubber toy that will bounce everywhere but the place where you want to send him. My take on this: It is a good and sometimes challenging puzzle game. The music is ok, the visual aspect of the game is nice. For the basic price that is asked of it, you cannot go wrong. If you find it at a discount, grab it.

The game is clearly good but due to there being no settings menu option for adjusting resolution and thereby allowing me to see the full set of controls to enable me to actually start a game, then it's all a bit of a CAT-astrophe.
