I had fun with this one. The gameplay loop is pretty much exactly what you'd expect – you sell food and drinks to customers, who pay you in resources that you use to buy upgrades and unlock more food items and furniture and whatnot. The art is cute, there's a storyline even if it's a bit of a light touch, and there are some NPCs with amusing dialogue (I particularly liked the punk and the business guy). It took me about 12 hours to complete the main storyline, and the 17.4 you should see attached to this review to get 100% achievements. The main critiques I have of this game are really of the Steam Deck support. I COULD NOT figure out how to exit the game from actually within the game; all I could do was save it (or wait for the start-of-day autosave) and exit the game from the Steam menu. Additionally, the game really needs some kind of confirmation dialog before letting you sell furniture/decorative items, because I accidentally sold sooooo many items in the early days (before I learned to be super cautious). Or at least an "undo", you know. But in the grand scheme of things these are minor complaints.

i was locked in for nearly 3 hours on the first launch. the creative currency system allows for nearly constant changes in customer needs like recipes and furniture. it's hard to describe but i think it's a cool way to keep the game from getting boring or too repetitive. there's a stardew valley-type beat storyline that is suspenseful and leaves you wondering what else will be uncovered. i feel sympathy for the characters even though i haven't been through their experiences and i just met them. to me, this means the dialogue is well-written. the cat puns are good but i don't feel like i'm getting whacked over the head with them constantly. i've always loved time management cooking games. this one is a little less time management, more strategy, more relaxed. the decorations are cute and the customer groups are fun. you have way more creative freedom with building and designing your cafe than i've seen in other games. i recc if you like restaurant sims but are also looking for something cute and relaxing with some compelling interpersonal dynamics mixed in.

For some reason this is my second time giving a neutral review to a cat cafe game. It's not that weird, but also kinda weird because I adore cats... Cat Cafe Manager is a cafe management sim. The plot is your basic "your grandmother/grandfather has left X for you, and now you have to fix the place and restore it to its former glory", and this time it's a cat cafe β€” so you come to the village, build a cafe and befriend the local cats to help them find forever home. Things I've liked ❀️ 1. Diverse characters, some of them are queer. Not much to say here, it's cool. ❀️ 2. The art! Everything is just so pretty. I've noticed the game because of its beautiful character sprites, but I also really like the way furniture and other objects are drawn. ❀️ 3. The gameplay is pretty easy to understand and get into. ❀️ 4. I like the idea that different customer types come into your cafe and each of them likes specific food and pays with their own currency. Because of that, you have to strategize a bit to attract certain customers, because you need different currency to buy certain things for the cafe. Stuff that could be better πŸ’” 1. Character customization. MC looks like an NPC, and not even a fun type of an NPC. I understand why the MC's design should be not as detailed compared to characters you befriend, but also like... it's kinda frustrating. Almost every hairstyle looks weird, and there's no way to accessorize or change clothes. πŸ’” 2. In general, MC doesn't feel like a MC, it's like you just stay aside and watch the story develop. The main conflict gets solved pretty quickly and easily, so there's no way to be emotionally invested. πŸ’” 3. The characters you befriend seem interesting, but still feel very shallow. I think it's because you only meet in your cafe, and nothing really happens β€” they just tell you about themselves on and on and on. The potential feels wasted. Maybe if there were scenes when you actually interact and do something together, I would connect to these people more. πŸ’” 4. The whole system with furniture and its perks β€” because of it you can't really have a nice cafe using only one style. If you want your cafe to make money, you have to use furniture from different sets. As a result you end up with mismatched objects all over the place. πŸ’” 5. The game gets easy relatively quick. At some point it begins to play itself, and you only have to watch as your cafe gains more and more money without trying. TLDR Cat Cafe Manager is kinda fun, especially in the beginning, when you're just learning to play and discovering new possibilities to improve your cafe. As the time goes on, the gameplay starts to feel more repetitive. Anyway, if you're looking for a cafe sim which is not stressful and very player-friendly, this game is perfect. Also, definitely don't buy this for the plot, it's not worth it. And wait for a sale, I guess.

Okay so to start off, the game is lovely. The art is beautiful, I love the decorations, the cats and the little stories it's super cute and wholesome. but. I don't like that my character feels non existent. I don't get to stand out from the rest, there's no real customization. You feel like a after thought to the rest of the characters. It's sad because you seem special at first but after a bit you slowly don't. The game play is kinda tedious, the way you have to manage everything is stressful, every day you have to switch it up to get more of this or that. It's not as fun in late game as it is in early game. The stories for the characters are super cute I won't deny that but, there isn't a whole lot. After the main story is done you can buy some tables that gives you some more but past that it's over, and I haven't seen a way to play the tables again to pick different answers. The character side stories only go so far as well, you help them out but again your not really there they kinda use you as a bounce board and not as a person. It's like the Mc isn't really there. BUT the characters are sweet, from finding yourself, finding what makes you happy, finding old friendships and finding spark in life it's sweet, but they don't really need you for it all. So in the end the game is nice, but I wouldn't buy it full price, I love the art and the story for what it is but I wish there was more to it all, I hope if they make another game they add more to the MC as well as the story for the Mc. More customization or at least make your character stand out from your workers. Lovely game, but needs more.
