This isn't a dedicated simulator for Vanguard Overdress as much as we'd like Bushiroad to make one. This is closer to the Tag Force series. It can simulate the game and does have PvP, but is more of just a mode of playing the game and experiencing it with all of the solo play options rather than being Vanguard in its most accessible form. For that reason I wouldn't really support the DLCs for the game as this again, isn't like Master Duel or PTCGO. You're buying expansions here. Suffice it to say all of this doesn't really matter anyway with the sequel coming out soon. Just bear in mind that your collection from this title will at least be transferable to the next. It's worth noting however that the sequel is Divinez which follows a different ruleset.

After playing this game for some time, I can confidently say, I absolutely hate it. So why would I recommend it? Simply because deck building is fun, the games are surprisingly intense, they have a solid system for getting singles where you get points to make them with the extras you get from packs, and the strategies you see on display make for a good time. If you don't have a stupid powerful deck however, you're at the mercy of RNG and there are certain builds that have their full potential locked behind the DLC which is about $130 at full price and $65 at the currently running sale for half price. If you're interested, wait for a sale preferably at half price or below. The prices for everything surrounding this game are ridiculous and the difficulty of the AI can match. If you play other card games like Magic, Yu-Gi-Oh, Pokemon, and Force of Will, give this game a shot. You might find you like it more or you might be like me and finding yourself hating the overall experience of playing this game but unable to leave it be because there's something addicting about the overall gameplay loop. For as much screwing over as this game has done to me during these games, and for as ludicrously priced as it is, it's an experience that will appeal to anyone who enjoys TCGs (especially if you like Japanese TCGs).

As a beginner of Vanguard this was my introduction to the game (outside the anime) and I love it, the game has become my go to card game when I feel like I want to play a card game. As news of a Dear Days 2 released I was overjoyed. The demo gave me excellent knowledge and understanding on how to play the game and have fun. The actual price for what you are getting lets be honest its not bad for games that come out, and stay longer than they should. but even though the Dear Days are way behind in card pool Dear Days 2 will hopefully make up for it and I plan on buying that one as well. The one downside is when you are playing watch out for the Mika character as a beginner she is truly the end boss at every encounter but I love the diversity in all the nations to choose from its given me hope on an IP that is outside of One Piece, Master Duel, Shadowverse (another good one I enjoy) etc,. I have not played ranked so I cannot speak on it there is YT for that hopefully this long tangent does not deter your purchase and playing the game :)

a good way to play VG without having to spend a lot of money while creating more decks. in any sense it's still cheaper to play it here rather than the physical one

It's not perfect, but it's d**n good for Vanguard Players, both current and those looking to return. For new players however, It's a hard sell with the HEFTY price tag. Lets talk pricing first. £50 for the base game - which hardly ever goes on sale. This gives you access to the first 5 Base sets, the starter decks, 2 lyrical sets, and 2 special sets. For people unfamiliar with the game rest assured, you can build multiple strong decks from these sets alone, that will see you through the main story easily enough. You may however struggle a little when playing online without some new support cards. £50 [ /b] for the First Season DLC card pass This includes access to the next two main sets (D-BT06 +7), The next Lyrical booster, and the Stride Deckset. b] £50 [ /b] for the Second Season DLC card pass This includes the next 3 Main sets (D-BT8,9 and 10) and the next stride Deckset. £15 for the Additional Special Set Includes Festival booster 2023 and (most of) D-BT11. There's a chance of this DLC being included in a Pass bundle in the future. ALL DLC SETS CAN BE PURCHASED INDIVIDUALLY AT VARYING PRICES For players looking to learn the game, It's a £50 game. For players looking to have a way to play Standard Format and compete with optimal decks, with the desire of learning how to play every available deck, its a £165 game. Assuming we get a third card pass, this increases to £200. Expensive? Absolutely. It's almost impossible to ignore the price tag. But let me show you another way of looking at this: For those who don't have a vanguard community close to them, consider it in this way. For an IRL EVA deck, updated to BT11, It costs around £165 in the UK. To build the deck in this game, It's around the same price. Except in this game, I can build any other deck I want, and play against anyone I want at any time. Again, it's expensive, there's no way to defend it. But consider the price of the alternative. Forget About Pricing. What about the game? Story Well, Its surprising good! The character's have depth, The difficulty is extremely challenging at times(Good thing!) and Multiple stories to play after clearing the Main Protagonist's line. Some of the AI don't play their decks optimally (to be expected), but to counter this, the AI sometimes manipulates their card pulls - I'm okay with this as it adds to the challenge. After every Fight, you are awarded VP, Which can be used to buy packs. Duplicate pulls in packs results in you being given CP. Which you then can use to craft specific cards. This system is probably the best I've seen in any TCG Game - Similar to old YGO DS and PSP games, but even better. Gameplay + OST The visuals are stunning. YGOMD players will know how it feels to go from Unofficial simulators to something so "finished". This game is no different. The animations are clean, the cut-ins are clean - Even pulling triggers feels as satisfying in this game as it does IRL. As for the soundtrack - its perfect. Literally perfect. There's 24 CPU opponents - most with multiple difficulty levels. I myself haven't spent too much time here, as I grind story mode for VP, but the option is there. Conclusion For Vanguard players, this is a refined simulator. While it's not up to date with the IRL TCG, It's still very much worth your time. Grinding a deck to max rarity is highly rewarding. This game is made for current and returning Vanguard players. For new players looking to join the fun - Only a fool would ignore the price tag. Without DLC, £50 is such a high cost for a game such as this, especially when you don't have any experience in CFV. I would recommend looking in your local area for a community first and learn in that environment before committing to buy this. If you're unsuccessful in your search for the IRL TCG and instead decide to purchase this game, I promise you, you will not regret it. TL;DR If you can somehow ignore the absolute insane price tag, you'll find this game to be exactly what you hoped it would be - A CFV players dream
