Everything But the Mosquitoes I've gotten so used to the ambient sounds of the water when the game loads that I feel like I'm really on the water. It is an immersive fishing sim that gives you all the tools of the hobby and sets you loose on wide open-world reserves to do as you please. Or, you can jump into the wide array of missions available. I bought this game back at release, and drifted away after the first 85 hours because of irl. (Irl can be a pain sometimes for most everybody. That's why sims are so popular.) But, a couple of weeks ago I snagged the new reserves in South Africa and Japan only to find that the game had come into its own, so to speak. I really love the Japan reserve, but after exploring it all and fishing a bit, I found myself heading back over to the American reserve with a renewed enjoyment. The game plays a lot better than at release. Though I can't put my finger on it, there is something more alluring about the game now. Anyways, I've added more gear and cosmetic dlcs, as well as the latest reserves, after ditching a lot of junk out of my Steam inventory items for the market cash. When you have to have it now nobody likes waiting around. At the moment I find myself waiting for the game install on my laptop so I can play it on the go, and not just on my desktop. It is that addictive. I won't go into all the details because I know you will discover them yourself. This is well worth a lot of gaming hours. I had already played thehunter: Call of the Wild for more than twelve hundred hours before jumping into the Angler. That is a game that I will never get tired of playing. I only wish the water was more interactive. That's not only what the devs have done in the Angler, but they've made a better product, in my opinion. I guess they've upped the graphics and mechanics. It makes you realize all the new things that could be improved in the Hunter COTW with a new iteration in coming years. As for improving the Angler, I would love to have depth information available on the map level for the rivers and lakes. It just makes sense. It almost feels like an oversight. Depth is a part of fishing since bodies of water are 3D. As a wishlist, It would be great if they add more American reserves. They say the base reserve was modeled on Yellowstone area. I think they could add reserves centered around water regions: like the Great Lakes, the Gulf Coast , New England/Atlantic, and Alaska/Pacific Coast. I would also like to see reserves based in Mexico, Brazil, Australia, and the South China Seas, to name a few. They just improved the customization feature to show hair under the hat with the latest update. That is much better, as being bald under my hat was no more pleasant for me as a woman than it would be for a man. That still needs a bit of work in my opinion, as its a bit low quality. Other than that, most everything looks good. One of the rivers in Spain has some splitting errors. (On that King's Path mission.) Whether you are a fishing pro, or you're an armchair angler who wants to learn more about the fish and the gear; you can kick back, cast in your line and enjoy some virtual fishing while immersing yourself in the wiki, or grab a jeep and a boat to join up with friends. There is so much to enjoy here.

Let me start by saying this game has come a long way. The beginning was quite rough and glitches plagued the servers but right now the game couldn't get much better. Fishing in this game is interesting and immersive with you having to fight the fish that take your hook. I have even fought with some legendaries for over half an hour as they put up a good fight. On the topic of gameplay, this game is nearly flawless and has come a long way from where it all originally started. I recommend this to anyone looking to do some fishing and have a great time.

I lost the ability to walk in an accident, I missed many things, but one of them that hurt the most was going fishing. I missed the wandering through the woods, the feel of a strong bite from a trout. The creak from a pole as you fight to bring that prize in. Seeing the fish come in under the water chasing the lure, jumping when caught. I tried most of the fishing games on steam, they felt like an arcade game. They put me at the pond, i press buttons and I catch the same fish over and over, They start out small and grow but the experience never changes. There was no world to explore and most were shameless cash grabs shoving packages down my throat telling me i need that or this to really do well. Then this, a sand box fisher. A world to get lost in, so beautiful. They get it all right from seeing the fish in the water, to the creak of the pole. Your can even have and change gear, clothes, ect They charge for DLC's but peanuts for the size of the maps. They have a few pole dlc you can get for the sparklies but not in game. They are not extra lucky or anything, just a bit sturdier. You don't need them. If that is what they must do to keep the game improving it is chump change compared to all others I played. The fish don't fall into your lap, you have to pay attention to the map, the hook, the bait, time of day. some areas are fishing hot spots and others are quiet, so you have to move around. Stay in one spot too long the fish go away, Exactly what happens in life. If you want to go fishing everywhere, this is the one. Relax and enjoy the peacefulness of a huge map. This is the game for you. People call it more of a walking Sim, in some ways it is because distance and time gives life to the world. There are other things to do, driving, quests, daily catches ect I am fishing again and it is wonderful, If you play, So I guess the question is, do you want to just plain arcade fish or do you want to feel like you are on a fishing trip? big difference. It is a new game, so it is just going to keep getting better and better. Well made indeed, thanks, keep it up. Update 122 hrs in, and my opinion of the game just improves. I play at 2k, on a budget friendly rig and I get clean frame rates of 40+ with graphics maxed. This game is no resource hog. There are so many little secrets to find, found a pond with a rock that if you cast to the left of the rock it is a gold star catch every third cast. Fish anywhere else in the pond, bronze and silver. Found some docks where there is spaces between the boards and you can see the lake bed clearly and if you wait fish will swim under you. That is some crazy detail in a game. When you climb a hill your forward motion slows down and you huff and puff and when I am near marsh I get an occasional may fly buzz in my ear., People are friendly, no trolls, I guess trolls don't fish. it is a lot of fun, it's all the small stuff that makes it feel alive. so far so good, Still need one more diamond LOL
