Sept. 2024

I just realised something when I bought Contractville and started playing it. It was when I put cement into the mixer that it had the same animation, formation as the one in this game Builder Simulator. Now I'm sure these aren't the same developers as Contractville, but now after seeing the last picture on this game's page(Builder Simulator) I also noticed the building plans are the same too. Even though I liked Builder Simulator, I now like Contractville even more.

I was looking for a carpentry game similar to the Sims but more in depth with the building process, and I found it here. There's a handful of missions that the game has to assemble different kinds of buildings in different locales and I personally enjoyed them. A tough part is when doing a part of the build and it doesn't seem like you can move to the next step because something was missed, it usually is a tiny part missed. But at the same time that's fair to accuracy because the last thing a customer wants is a part missed in the process of making their building! I just finished the missions mode and hope they come out with more, there's other modes too in this game that should be checked out.

I absolutely love this game. It's both beautiful and educational, and it did not trigger my motion sickness. It's really the best out there! It runs perfectly on my steam deck too. I love Bill's humor and companion. I am begging for a DLC that covers utilities (electric wiring, plumbing, water, gas, HVAC, and telcom...) and contracts for bigger buildings with different structural system, like high-rise buildings. It doesn't have to be for the whole project. Just some realistic contracts, like glass facade installation, ceiling installation, duct system, elevator and so on...

As a civil engineer, I think this game is really realistic. It follows the same steps as the actual contracting process, from digging the foundations to finishing the house. It teaches things that you don't learn in university. For example, plastering. In university, they teach you what plaster is made of and where to put it, but not how to apply it using tools like a trowel or plastering gun. The game is fun, but I have some suggestions to make it even better. It could include more types of foundations like spread footing, combined footing, and mat footing. It could also have columns and beams. Beams could hold walls or slabs, and columns could support beams or slabs directly. These additions would make the game more realistic and enjoyable, like real-life construction.

I love this simulator. I'm playing it to learn how to build in real life and I've already learned some things that are absolutely true. It can be relaxing but I do not view simulators as "games" but much rather learning tools. So I would really love it if the realism was taken a step further. This simulator needs what the Car Mechanic simulator has. I get that not all users would have fun with details down to the correct bolts and what not. But there are plenty of users who get this to learn and would love it. So what I'd suggest is different modes. "Medium accuracy mode" and "Extreme accuracy mode". When you pour concrete it's not going to be 100% perfect and flat and level. When you put in ceilings, we can't forget about gravity.... etc. And for the people who want to learn even more, maybe have random tips pop up (that you can turn off obviously) about what you're doing and things to keep in mind if this were real life. Man, I'd love that. I'd like to learn how to tile a bathroom. Show me via gameplay EXACTLY how that's done and have little nuggets that explain what I'm doing and why it's important. I'd prefer to go through the entire process rather than just throw tiles up against the wall. I love to learn and I'm sure many out there would agree. And multiplayer would be amazing obviously. Any way, just describing what would make this perfect. More accuracy => more learning => more fun. Great simulator! Highly recommended.
