An absolutely fantastic game, mixing Comedy, Strategy, and Serious discussions about psychology, mental illness, and much more. The gameplay loop never feels repetitive, especially with the(as of review) recent update "Human Canvas" that makes the modding scene much easier to get into. With the discord being so active, you can always get any question asked answered and any ideas you may have quickly reviewed and commented on. Despite the unlimited praise I could give, there are always things that can be improved, that's just how everything is. One thing that I feel like would be the biggest point of grief is the attack animations, they are insanely cool, you just can't have them on if you want a fast game. Though I can barely say that's a complaint, most animations and sounds with the animations give the player feelings of power, discomfort, fear, or even disgust. The animations pair well with the VERY unique art style the game uses, Hieronymus Bosch. Overall cannot recommend the game enough and love to see this game succeed. Little bonus for anyone that made it this far, this is the only game I have 100%'d, I am that passionate about it. Favorite song is The Other Escape, look it up on YT Edit: Add the ghostwriter mod to steam please Funkin please

Wow, what a hidden gem this game is. Okay, I don't even know where to start... I like almost everything this game has to offer, from it's gameplay to it's music and atmosphere. For starters, this is probably one of the most fun turn-based combat systems I've seen in a long time! The main gimmick is the distribution of resources you receive for dealing or receiving any kind of damage, and if you don’t get rid of those resources in time, you'll receive tons of unnecessary damage. All this sprinkled with various playable party members (Almost) each with several alternative abilities, various passive items, strange enemies and bosses and, of course, randomness. Positioning aslo plays a HUGE role in all of this, because THIS is where the real struggle begins... (In a good way) There are 5 zones where you can place your dudes and other 5 opposite to them where your opponents are located, and guess what? Those bastards can hit both in front of them or to the side of themselfs, throw some garbage on one of the zones you're in, or just move your allies all over the field as they please. But the situation won't get any better because your lil' fellas will also screw you over! Some of them will move on another tile after they hit someone or take damage, because, oh wow, their passive ability is being a coward. And I know, all of this sounds like it's gonna descend into a complete mess real fast, (And sometimes it really does) but every time you start a new turn, you have a "timeline" bar on top of your screen that shows you (Almost) every single move that your opponents plan to do, so you have all the time in the world to carefully plan your actions. Visually, I also really like this game, overall it looks very simple but the pixel art personally reminds me of [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/335670/LISA_The_Painful/] LISA , (Plus, I also saw that they have a 88 shirt from LISA: The Pointless as one of the passive items, so, heeey) dope looking attack animations which I'm pretty sure were inspired by [url=https://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=Mason%20Lindroth] Mason Lindroth , ([url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/397740/Hylics/] Hylics guy) as well as the cool sound design and music. (Which ranges from something silly and experimental to adaptive jazz music that changes when one of the enemies mutates and literally becomes a musical instrument made out of flesh) And I’m 100% not biased and I don’t have a [url=https://youtu.be/A3kC-boEvBk] favorite. Developers themselves said that they were heavily inspired by [url=https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hieronymus_Bosch] Hieronymus Bosch's works, and yes I can definitely see this in some of the game's designs. Here we have a bunch of fish guys in the first act and then we go to the more abstract things in the last location of the game. And I would even say that Bosch himself slightly figures in the game's lore. I mean, you can even see "Hieronim Bosch's" on the game's logo. Overall, I think it's a really cool depiction of the afterlife. Oh yeah, afterlife, huh... I don’t want to talk much about the story here, it’s presented rather mysteriously, and I won’t lie that I completely understood everything that I saw, but I like the theory that I drew for myself ;^) I believe that they can stil add a lot of cool things into this game (Including some QoL things), but this is a really cool project that made me wanna write such a large review. UPD: I tried to reduce it by like... 2 times? And I wish the developers good luck with their next project, [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/2290870/Clown_Meat/] Clown Meat ! Also shoutout to one of my favorite YouTubers [url=https://www.youtube.com/@yakkocmn] yakkocmn , thanks to whom I found this awesome game.

The problem with mid roguelikes is that the genre by nature has a lot of replay value, so it's rarely if ever worth your time to play a mediocre one versus revisiting an excellent one. Well good news, Brutal Orchestra is excellent. The gameplay, art, music, and general creative direction are all superb. The dialogue is often genuinely funny and a pleasure to experience. At 30 hours played with plenty of meat on the bone it's an easy recommendation.

I first played this game a couple years ago. Played for about an hour, did not enjoy it. Did not understand the rave reviews. Just felt like a typical turn based combat game with an annoying colour pigment mechanic. Then one day I came across a video of someone playing the game and decided to watch for a bit. They were looking at what the enemy was planning to do, which tile they were going to attack. Then deciding how best to attack with their party and position to avoid damage. How to best get the pigment they needed. Then won the battle, then moved onto to get a new item. A really interesting item that completely changed how they would play. I suddenly found myself super invested watching. Finding myself thinking ok no he should move that guy there, do this etc. After that I decided to give this game another shot and absolutely loved it. I love strategizing how to handle the fights, where to move who where. how to get pigment I need. I was hooked. There is also a large cast of party members to unlock that completely change how you approach fights, a large variety of different items. Some really great enemies and I absolutely loved working out how to do the boss fights. The story and setting while quite subtle are excellently done and the art work and art direction is perfectly done to blend everything together into something truly great. I had an amazing time with this game and highly recommend.
