Maybe the best second world war game. A great singleplayer campaign with really good mechanics.

I never played Hell's Highway when I was younger. It's a fantastic game that significantly outperforms both Road to Hill 30 and Earned in Blood in terms of gameplay. I choked up at the end. Gearbox needs to make another Brothers in Arms game.

This one is stellar. I will say however that while very fun and while it makes changes that are very welcome, it lacks much of the substance that made the first two games so special. The storytelling is much improved thanks to the technological advancements that make its beautiful cutscenes possible. The acting and dialogue are so fantastic, and it features a scene near the end that nearly brought me to tears. I must say that I don't like the cover system. For some reason (I guess because it was 2008) this game decided to have a third-person cover system. If you don't use this system and just hide behind cover as one typically does in an FPS, you will be shot. Another thing is the regenerating health system. I don't mind it personally, it's much less punishing than the health system from RtH30 and EiB but I think it's implemented in a way that makes sense. You certainly never feel safe moving out of cover, but I think that it definitely does make you less careful. In the other two, when your men die they're dead for the rest of the level, which makes you really actively try to keep them all safe because if you don't you're going to lose. In this one, when they die, they respawn instantly at the next checkpoint. This game really loses a lot of the tactical elements that made the first two so great. I would say that the first two are tactics games first, and shooters second, while this one is a shooter first, with tactics deemed less important. This is not to say that I disliked this one. Quite the opposite, I loved it, and I think many of its changes were absolutely the right idea (i.e. different types of fireteams, three fireteams at one time, destructible cover, music during cutscenes, etc.) and so wish that there was another one.

The game itself is good. The gunplay has been greatly improved, compared to the first 2. The story too. BUT ... the game crashed ... A LOT, like every 20-25 minutes. And for some reason I kept booting it up. So, I guess it is a recommendation
