Broken Sword 5 absolutely captures the original style and sentiment of the first two games in the series. It’s fantastic to step back into the shoes of George Stobbart and embark on yet another epic adventure. The environments are stunning, and while I feel that cel-shaded 3D characters immediately look outdated, I understand the cost-efficient style choice for a modern game. Perhaps one day, classic cinematic 2D animation will return to the franchise—one can only hope. Most of the puzzles make sense and feel fair. However, there were a few very challenging ones that I couldn't solve without resorting to the hint guide. I instantly regretted this choice, blaming myself for not taking the time to work through them on my own. Unfortunately, these artifact type puzzles, especially near the end, just felt too difficult and tedious. Overall, the game is a fantastic addition to the franchise, and I hope there’s more to come!

The game could have been more exploratory. While the story/narrative moves along nicely, from a gameplay standpoint: you’re always just working with 1-2 screens to advance to the next part of the game. There were times where I thought I had tried everything and got stuck, to find out from a walkthrough that I had to click on something ‘again’ because now that I was playing a different character I could view it in more detail. ..little irrational annoying things like that which stalled my progress. There’s the occasional annoying logic puzzle. I detest these and see them as a lazy way of creating gameplay due to a lack of creativity, but most games in the genre contain some of these, it’s apparent that some people like this stuff, so whatever. Some of the more traditional ‘use items to solve puzzles’ (which is more my style, feels more authentic) had some pretty upside-down, moon logic solutions, so I did end up consulting a walkthrough numerous times. There’s a 1-3 second delay when clicking on someone to talk/interact, almost like it is taking a while to load the correct audio file. This was noticeable and mildly irritating, not as problematic as I imagined. I hope they get that smoothened out for their next game (if it ever comes out). It would be nice if double clicking would allow you to run rather than walk, a QoL feature in most other point & click games. Fortunately you are seldom travelling very long distances. The audio mixing could have been better, there were numerous times where I had to turn the volume up because some dialogue was quieter than others (phone calls for instance), this led to me just leaving the game running slightly louder than I'd have liked so I would not miss anything. Despite a number of irritations and needing to look at walkthroughs, I enjoyed the game. It is faithful to the Broken Sword series. Dialogue feels nostalgically 90's-ish and the story moves along in the same manner as the traditional games, where a mystery takes a turn toward historical conspiracies that has you exploring some ancient and exotic locales. I suppose I have one gripe with the ending where it goes supernatural, but I won't spoil more than that, it's more of a nitpick.

Alright, I finally finished the last (although I see 6 is in the works) of the series. This one goes back to the strong roots of a Point n' Click. You can once again skip dialogues. Can't sprint or walk faster however (not as cumbersome as you'd think tho). All in all, I'd say, play 1, 2, and 5. End w 3 and 4 if at all, w 4 being the worst.

Fantastic Game! This has to be in my top 5 adventure games of all time! I think this game is so underrated and deserves much more praise than it gets. The story, graphics & puzzles are all top notch and make this game a must-play if you are a fan of the Broken Sword series and a fan of point & click games in general! I would highly recommend playing this game is you are an adventure game lover.

It's ok. Puzzles are fine and don't take very long. The hint mechanism works great. BUT.. this is sooo slow. Every action needs like2-3 seconds pause. It's ennerving to wait. Every trial and error is punished by a unreasonable wait time.
