The Review: Borderlands 2 is a great game. You should at least try it. Now, the main reason I am writing this. No, the game is not spyware. It’s a misunderstanding based on a recent update to the terms of service. What happened was the games publisher, Take Two Interactive, updated the terms of their end user license recently. Several actors in the Borderlands community misread these changes as them turning the currently released games in the franchise into literal spyware. This is not true. The games are perfectly safe to run and your data will not be stolen. The codebase for the games is unchanged, all the update did is add an advertisement for the upcoming fourth game and you have to agree to the new EUL before you can play online. That said if you feel uncomfortable playing due to this controversy or Take Two changing the EUL without your consent, I understand. I post this only to clarify the situation and will update it as needed. If you want more on the situation, this Reddit post does a good job explaining it: https:// old.reddit.com/r/Borderlands/comments/1kusnqa/new_eula_question_if_anyone_knows/mu4esbx/?context=3 QnA: Will the game spy on me? – NO. The games code base is unchanged from before the update. The game itself will not collect any information. Will I need a Kernel Level Anti-Cheat which will spy on me? - NO. You will not need to install any anti-cheat to play Borderlands 2. The update did not change this. Why has the EUL been changed? - Take Two recently bought Gearbox and thus the rights Borderlands franchise. As part of their acquisition of Gearbox, Take Two is updating all online games Gearbox to use their EUL since they host the servers now. Can I play without agreeing to the new EUL? - Yes. You will have to play the game in offline mode and cannot access multiplayer features, but you can still play without agreeing to the EUL. Will I be banned from multiplayer or sued by Take Two for using mods? - NO. The game is a 10+ year old co-op shooter. Take Two does not care if you mod it. This part of the EUL is relevant for modern releases and in active development projects such as Grand Theft Auto Online where cheating and piracy via mods is a very real problem. Will I be banned from multiplayer for using foul language? - NO. Again, this is a 10+ year old game. Take Two does not care if you trash talk your teammates. Again, this part of the EUL is relevant to more modern projects. Still, please respect your teammates. What data does the new EUL cover? - Emails, phone numbers, username, name, IP address, and passwords if relevant. If this sounds concerning, know that this is standard for many EULs where you need to create an account. You provided all this information except the latter to Steam when you created your account, Take Two just asks Steam to look at this information. The password clause is only for your Gearbox Shift account, it will not steal banking passwords or your Steam password. Edit June 6th, 2025: Clarified a few things and added a link

run the game thru the launcher in the install folder and not steam to skip the stinkish new eula for the time being. you can also still get rid of the BL4 ads via borderlands hex multitool. happy hunting :D *seems as though the eula bit only works if an install location already exists :/ rest in pis

This game is better than Borderlands 3 or maybe upcoming four installment. It's addictive to play on single mode or alongside your friends again and again. I recommend to buy all DLC that available on store for max enjoyment. NB: Don't update or connect to Shift account. The publisher accused of implanting spyware by some players and streamer. Just paly with your steam account and you'll be fine.

Borderlands 2 is a complete game and one of a kind experience if you love shooters and fun gameplay. From the first borderlands where the story was average this time everything makes sense and is a lot better, Jack is a cool villain that breaths life in the single player story and if the first game had some great dlcs this time i believe they were even better.. but more of that later. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3341291191 In terms of the single player campaign i think they did a really good job,i didn't expect from a game like this to provide this quality and depth for the single player experience. Yes i know it's the same concept where they focus on the fun gameplay and coop adventures but at the same time they improved a lot the missions and world design. And the improvements keep on rollin .. i really liked the voice acting, the humor and hilarious jokes are funnier. Some of side quests have plenty of references to other games and the Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage DLC is just Mad Max on steroids for me. I really like the length of campaign, i think it might be the longest story of the series and arguably the best one. Shooting feels smooth again, picking a different character and talent trees provide a lot of replayability. Speaking of length, the sidequests of the game are excellent and provide maybe 50% of the entire content so don't ignore those. The main campaign is about 30 hours long and if you add the dlcs and the time you'll spend playing co-op with friends you better prepare yourself for a long journey. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3340792362 I need to mention also the graphics ,this game made me take so many screenshots because it's just beautiful ,the cartoon art is so good. I'm playing this in 2024..yes i know it's a little late but i'm lucky to play it with all the dlcs released ,without bugs and it doesn't feel or look old. I want to add the perk of getting this in a complete Borderlands bundle at a great price so if Pandora Box is getting another discount maybe you should buy it too because it's great value. Earlier i praised the dlcs and i just wish we receive this level of content and quality in other games too. Each dlc is great and unique but in this short review i can't cover them all so i'll just talk a little about my favorite: Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep. This is a rare case where a content expansion can be at the same level as the main game and maybe even better. The concept of a game in a game is just great, the fun is just visceral. The mix of borderlands and D&D elements is a unique flavor, the jokes and the absurd story is a lovely chaos that i was so pleased about,Tiny Tina as a Bunker Master narrating was so funny for me. In conclusion Borderlands 2 is great game that aged like a fine wine so if you're looking for a new adventure give this a chance and have fun! https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3333773920 Pros: - Good story and excellent dlcs - Enemy variety ,loot and huge arsenal of weapons - Humor Cons: - Some enemies are bullet sponge later on the game,it takes too much time to kill them - Difficulty can be harsh if you're a new player ,but that can be fixed if you spend some time learning builds and strategies My review score Story - 9 Gameplay- 10 Graphics-9 Sound - 9 Overall - 9.25

Bought the game when it originally came out for PS3 in 2012. Loved if then. Bought the Pandora's Box collection all these years later, and the game is still awesome now in 2024. So awesome, I am writing my first Steam review haha If you have never played Borderlands (1), starting at 2 is a probably one of the best introductions to the Borderlands series. The overall story for Borderlands 2 is great - it has its highs and lows, its funny moments and serious moments. The game play is fun and so many build opportunities for each of the playable characters. Sooooo many weapons - and a lot of unique weapons. Yes, there are meta/popular weapons, shields, and accessories for each build, but you can get away with playing with most any weapon as long as it deals the specific damage type you need for an enemy. I did buy the Pandora's Box collection - which comes with all the DLC for the game. If you are playing simply for the purposes of understanding the story, I would highly recommend playing the Normal play through and the Tiny Tina's DLC. If you are playing to grind out your character, the real grind doesn't start til you beat play through 3 (Ultimate Vault Hunter mode) and are trying to reach OP level 10. You can most definitely beat this game solo - so if you are a solo-player, there is no part of this game that requires the help of others. Gaming can be funner with friends - so if you have friends playing different characters, it is fun to see all the special abilities in use as you melt through harder enemies. Overall; if you are looking for a looter-shooter with good story and good game play, then Borderlands 2 will definitely scratch that itch.
