The second game is a much better…game. It's much more polished, with a better budget for everything: the script, the dates (so many dates!), the dungeons, the crafting system, etc. Now, the focus is still on dating the girls to get to know them better. Now you have exactly three options to select per date that would affect what fragment you'll get by the end, and as a bonus you get to see different reactions and sometimes cutscenes. By my count you can get as many as 141 dates per playthrough. That's not counting optional date events you can trigger while on the date, and group events. And, for what it's worth, there's some actual romance this time, and it's not just between the main heroine and other girls. Also, there's a handholding system implemented when you progress your bonding far enough! Item crafting is now required to progress some story events, and to unlock some optional areas in the dungeons. Plus, you get a separate school structure crafting to add to the school grounds (which work as additional dating spots). You also get more party members to build your team, plus an additional support slot for passive effects during battles. The combat system is also seriously expanded, with more skills, a gear system to unlock skill tiers, team combos, transformations, and additional one-on-one boss battle system. The music is mostly reused and slightly rearranged tracks from the first game (which is not a bad thing). One slight dig I have, is the outfit DLCs. There's not even one with casual wear this time around, which is a shame. All you can get is alternative colors for default outfits, and a bunch of fan service. The ending is also a bit disappointing, in that it's just a boss rush where you have to re-visit every dungeon and re-fight the dungeon boss. And then do it again in the end game dungeon. It feels like an unnecessary padding just to prolong the last chapter for a few hours. The ending is also kinda meh, and the NG+ changes for True End are so minor, it's not worth it to run again (but you probably will, if you care for 100% completion, because there's a bunch of bugged achievements, and you can only get half the fragments from dates in one playthrough). All in all, it's a very chill and enjoyable experience if you like the genre of cute girls doing cute things. And you absolutely do not need to play the first game, nor do you need to watch the anime before starting this game!

This is such a cozy, pretty and sweet game about friendship. I loved the surreal level designs of the Heartscapes (Rena and Hinako’s were my favorites). The characters are all likable, including the MC, Ao. The story also really picks up towards the end. My only gripes are a) it is very easy to max out your characters to the point that it becomes frustratingly easy and b) that you need to do an entire second playthrough with not many changes for the true ending. If you’re into the Atelier games, I think this is a good choice for you!

Playing this game is like having your favourite anime be given a second season, have it be given super high budget, given to a better studio, better action scenes, more VA hired, and with a surprise twist in the story that elevated it above the first season in every way.

The first JRPG game that I really completed ever, so I absolutely recommend you to play this game. Let me get into detail about it. This game is just like a normal JRPG turn-based game, in which we have a character walk in the field and enter the combat mode when hitting the enemy. For the combat system, what makes this game's combat system different from normal JRPGs (or the ones I used to play) is the Real-Time turn-based, ether, and gear. It's cool and fun to play; even after 30 hours of gameplay, I still do not find it boring, which is one of the main reasons why I stop playing other JRPGs. As for the characters, Cute Anime Girl + School Student + All-Girl = The best. I don't have anything much to tell. Story and Plot: I find this game has quite an interesting story and plot, not amazing but not that boring. At least I managed to read almost every line in the game till the end, and this is from me who normally would skip all the plot in games. Some character arcs are better than others, some a little too normal and stereotypical. UI and Graphics: THIS GAME HAS THE BEST UI EVER! I really love how the UI looks, clean, easy to read, looks cool, absolutely perfect. For the graphics, just standard, not bad, runs smoothly, but in some scenes, I still find it quite strange. Design: I love map design and enemy design in this game. For the map design, every map has its meaning, every structure can refer to the scenario for each character, and that is wonderful. I enjoy walking around the map just to chill and find some minor details that hide in it (especially in the school map). Sound: Opening and Ending songs are ok. BGM is enjoyable, can listen to it for a whole journey without feeling irritated. Other Systems: Side quests and the dating system are cool. This game really put a lot of work into it, resulting in a ton of side quests for each character to do and discover, including dating in each scenario too. I also love it (although I didn't finish all of it). School development and crafting are also great additions to the game, making combat more fun and less repetitive, really a plus to a game for those who love big numbers and stats calculating like me. Overall, I would rate this game in each category as follows: Combat: 9/10 Character: 10/10 Story: 7.5/10 Graphics and UI: 7/10 Design: 8.5/10 Sound: 7/10 Other: 9/10 If you are looking for a good JRPG game and this game is on discount, it's a must deal. If it's not, then it's really up to you. I would still cheer to buy it at full price though.
