Turns out my Steam Deck was installing some update or something, and affecting my performance. Upon restarting it, and restarting the game, it actually ran fantastically, even on the highest settings! I owe the developer an apology for my initial review. I enjoyed this game. It's got nudity, tons of guns, and it very much a callback to games like Serious Sam and Painkiller. The enemies themselves are cool, very metal, very sexy at times, but the way they spawn in behind you, and above you is very annoying after a while. I'd say if you can grab it on a decent sale, it's pretty enjoyable.

https://youtu.be/tQeuTxZ7ZKM I grabbed this on sale for $2.59, so keep that in mind when I say that I'd have paid more if I were more sure about the game. I didn't know too much, but it looked kinda fun despite the mixed reviews. A lot of the points made are valid, and I agree with most of them. Bloodhound itself is about 8-10 hours in length. From chapter to chapter you spawn, fight a wave in a tight location, repeat. Find keys or solve random puzzles here and there to advance. Battle a boss once in a while. That's it other than the retro graphics DLC which is a nice nostalgic touch/ The big problem, however, ends up being the difficulty. I usually just run medium, but got bored at how fast I was flying through it, so i started a new campaign on hard. That was medium imo. Sure there were some mobs with cheap hits or large enough in number to kick my ass once or twice, not to mention the final boss Astaroth with its one hit kill fuck you attack (stick to the walls and keep grabbing armor), but for the most part this was a bit too accessible for me. I wanted a challenge. I barely got one other than fighting the urge to exit the game againt the final two bullet sponges called bosses. But as a casual experience, I really didn't mind it. I kind of agree this may not satisfy the more hardcore of us at $13, but I'd be satisfied with the experience if I threw down $8-10 considering I sunk 15 hours into this wrzpping up the campaign znd grinding kill related achievements. So if you enjoy arena fps type games, consider giving this a shot when on sale at least.

Bloodhound starts off as an epic first person shooter where you shoot down cultists and demons led by Astaroth from another dimension. The game-play is straightforward and easy where you play it straight away without any difficulty. The rock music adds energy to it as well in order to feel pumped and ready to go. The enemies look like standard enemies you see in most FPS games. The developers have done a great job of making this game a reality even though it's not perfect. My only flaw with Bloodhound is that some levels of the game can be quite repetitious which sometimes drags on or it doesn't take long to finish. Bloodhound is like Painkiller and Serious Sam mixed in together to become it's own thing. Overall Rating: 9/10

It's not what I expected, but considering its budget and team size, it's quite enjoyable for what it is. And it's a Painkiller knock-off. The basic loop consists of entering an arena, and then killing spawning in enemies until an arbitrary gate opens. You get a couple of simple power-ups, and an array of weapons. You even get the stake gun (crossbow), which functions more or less exactly as the stake gun from Painkiller and impales enemies onto walls all the same. Unfortunately it's not very useful, since weapons aren't balanced at all. Some are plain better than others, be it by a damage they output, or by the fact that the enemy hitboxes are really unforgiving and seem to be either pixel perfect with their lean 3D models, or even smaller. Spray and pray is the way to go most of the time. That being said, the formula didn't wear off for me and the game ends exactly when it would start to get annoying. Intentionally or not, that was a good scope the developers decided for. Graphically, it's nothing special. It's an UE4 game, coming with poor optimalization, typical hic-ups (like shader caching stuttering the game, especially painful on the first launch), and a feel of an asset flip. Some of the 2D art looks very generic, OR AI generated. SFXes are mediocre, but the music score is fitting. Technically, it needs way more polish, since audio was constantly cutting of itself or overwriting during bigger encounters. Bloodhound is a well worth title for its league. Get it on sale.

It's not bad..... It's not really... good either... but it's not bad in the strictest sense. It feels like a retro shooter and mostly plays like one, but it feels like one of the most unpolished titles to date. It looks good, but that's the best thing about it honestly. The gunplay and aiming feel weird like sometimes it feels like you should land hits but don't and it feels like aiming fights against your mouse at times. The map design is strange and you jump from environment to environment with no real explanation or reason. I've only gotten a few missions in, but it feels like there's no real story to speak of at all. I mean I guess that's how most 90s shooters might have been where you only got the story before you actually start playing, but I just feel so lost as to why or how I'm shooting up demons or who my character is (at least in Doom, you were always aware you were the ultimate soldier against Hell Invasions). I don't know.... I just think I could name at leas 10 other games that play in this style that are much better than this one and more worth the asking price - even ones much much older.
