Feisty game play style with a solid level of replayability.

While overshadowed by its vastly superior sequel, Bleed 1 is still a worthy indie title that can be played either before or after Bleed 2. The core gameplay is stylish and satisfying, throwing loads of high-speed projectiles at you but giving ample bullet time to gracefully dodge them. You get to see the beginnings of the series’ little charming story, as well as the basis for many bosses and patterns that were later used by the second game to iteratively improve upon. There are some amateurish animations here and there, a couple of needless instant death hazards, and extra characters that feel like limitations rather than different playstyles, but also a much greater variety of weapons to experiment with, a shop with upgrades to offer a bit more sense of progression, plus, arguably, a more memorable OST.

This is a dual-stick (or mouse and keyboard) shooter platformer parody about a highly skilled lunatic intent on becoming the number one hero by assassinating all the former top heroes. Silly, but fun. Quadruple jump/dash combined with bullet time allows for some fun feats of agility. The controls feel pretty tight. The bosses and sub-bosses are varied and interesting enough. The game is short, but sweet, and has a fair amount of replayablity in the form of an arcade mode (clear the whole game in one life), custom boss battles, new guns, and new characters. There's apparently even a two-player mode, though I haven't tried it.

Rating: ★★★★☆ - Great Time Played: 4.5 hours (2-2.5 Hours each playthrough) Difficulty: Normal + Very Hard Gameplay: - Intense and fast-paced action gameplay with tight controls. - Unique mechanic of slow motion with triple air-dash adds depth to combat. - Variety of weapons and upgrades provide strategic options for tackling different challenges. - Well-designed levels with challenging enemy placements and environmental hazards. - Co-op mode adds an extra layer of fun and replay ability. Story\Dialogue: - Minimalistic story and dialogue with a focus on action rather than narrative depth. Graphics: - Amateurish pixel art style character sprites and environments. - Smooth animations during and out of slow motion bring the fast-paced action to life. Before you Buy\Play: - Get Bleed 2 alongside Bleed 1 as it's a great successor to this game. - If intending to play on Very Hard, play through Normal first to get upgrades and familiarise yourself with the weapons, levels and enemies. - Consider trying out the co-op mode and the alternative characters for modified gameplay.

Decent fun, but the sequel is pretty much the same game but better in every way. If you got money to spare, can buy both games, they are fun If you got to save money, only buy the sequel
