This game is exactly what I wanted out of the first game. A fun, decently difficult runner with some rhythm elements. My main gripe with the original was a lack of checkpoints, this fixes that problem. This isn't really a "remake", it's more so a "re-imagining" of the original Bit.Trip Runner game. Yet this still has the entirety of the first game in it, WITH CHECKPOINTS, along with a few levels based on other Bit.Trip games, not just the Runner part. This also has an online element to it, you can create, publish and play other levels online, which is a genius idea. Good game, highly recommend. Gaijin's levels can still suck. Whoever designed the Retro Challenges should never design a level again.

I am a long-time, huge fan of the BIT.TRIP series, not just RUNNER. In fact it is my favorite video game series of all time. Although I would have preferred for remakes of the other games in the series, this remake of RUNNER does not disappoint. The original BIT.TRIP RUNNER was my introduction to the BIT.TRIP SERIES and this game is great for both new and long time BIT.TRIP fans. The gameplay changes make it less frustrating than the original and the levels with songs from the other BIT.TRIP games (I cried when hearing the songs from FLUX) is a great way to get people into the other games of the series. The level editor could also provide much more replay value for those creative enough. In conclusion, if you're a fan of the BIT.TRIP franchise, absolutely buy this. And if you're not, buy it anyway, especially if you're just starting to get into the series. It's an amazing game!

You get to make your own levels. And your own BGM. I don't know of any other game that lets you do both at the same time. Recommended for platformer and music aficionados.

This is one of the best games I've ever played. I love how fun and challenging it is. I also love the music and world. It's great side scrolling action with wonderful rhythm elements. I'm going to explore the whole franchise now. Absolutely loved this and it's fun to challenge yourself to get "perfect" on each level. Fantastic.

If you are a fan of rhythm games (or if you are at all familiar with the BIT.TRIP series), this game is more than worth the money. On top of 36 base levels and all three of the previous RUNNER games, the other five BIT.TRIP titles had their level soundtracks translated into RUNNER style levels. As if that wasn't enough, the thousands of custom created levels with the level editor allow for this game to be worth its weight in gold. In my nineteen hours of play, I only really ran into one technical issue (as of 6/28/24, the game doesn't remember what you set the mode-up voice style to when you close the game, but remembers all other settings). Aside from that, the only other thing that I would've wanted from this game was a way to change the visuals to mirror the first BIT.TRIP games (a toggle for the 8-bit font instead of default and a toggle for Timbletot's model to be the one from RUNNER/FATE instead of the default are ones that I would've liked to see). That all being said, the problems above are very minor (most of which were little nitpicks more than anything), I highly recommend this game to anybody, but in particular to those who want another rhythm platformer to sink their teeth into and to those who have had any prior experience with the BIT.TRIP series. RATING: Save a few small issues and a couple minor nitpicks, this game is the best that Choice Provisions has made for the BIT.TRIP Series. P.S, if a developer is reading this, thank you for the work on this game and for allowing me to re-live the early 2010's again. Have a wonderful day!
