Fun little game but the GUI when building your blob is horrendous. You have to click everything and even then you can only see part of the info and you always need to scroll. Its tedious

Played On Steam Deck Bioweaver is a refreshing take on the action RPG genre, blending treasure hunting with deep character customization. The game’s standout feature is its unique skill-building system, which uses basic programming logic to let you craft and link organs, creating a personalized combat style. This mechanic offers a level of depth and experimentation that keeps each playthrough engaging. Visually, Bioweaver employs a distinctive art style that complements its thematic elements. The environments are well-designed, and the creature designs add to the game’s immersive atmosphere. The soundtrack and sound effects further enhance the experience, providing an auditory backdrop that aligns with the game’s mood. The gameplay loop is satisfying, with a balance between exploration, combat, and crafting. The organ-crafting system is intuitive yet deep, allowing for a variety of builds and strategies. However, some players have noted that certain boss fights, like the Act 3 boss, present significant difficulty spikes, requiring strategic adjustments and potentially some grinding to overcome. While the game offers a rich experience, it does have areas that could benefit from refinement. The learning curve associated with the skill-building system might be steep for some, and the difficulty spikes can be a hurdle. Despite these challenges, the game’s innovative mechanics and engaging gameplay make it a standout title in the genre. Overall, Bioweaver delivers a unique and immersive RPG experience that encourages creativity and strategic thinking. Its innovative approach to skill customization sets it apart, making it a must-play for fans of the genre. 9/10—a compelling journey into the art of biological crafting and combat.

It's about ten hours of content to beat the game and complete the 30-floor challenge mode, or a few hours less if you land on a busted build. The translation's kinda jank so there were times I was wondering what various mechanics or powers actually did. The fact that all of your brains are active simultaneously should really be explained better at the beginning. Overall, pretty fun while it lasts if you like experimenting with weird game interactions and going "I wonder if this works?" But once you win the game by making a build that deletes everything, it runs out of content pretty fast. The interesting part of the game is farming up organs and the relatively low capacity per brain limits how much wacky interaction-chaining you can actually do. Not to mention that there are a few replica organs that are just obviously superior once you understand how they work. Still, the game isn't shy about actually paying off good builds by letting you steamroll levels so it's entertaining once you figure it out.

This is not the best game on steam. It's not even in the top ten I've ever played. But Bioweaver, and its counterpart Bio Prototype, are both really really good games. The original game, Bio Prototype (BP for short) was essentially Vampire Survivors with a twist. Level-based 30 minute action where you progressively grow stronger and stronger until you die, then restart. Bioweaver (BW for short) took that concept and changed it significantly. Now, you are simply playing a game like Path of Exile where you progressively grow stronger and stronger by gaining infinite new organs, mutating them into slightly stronger and slightly superior versions of old ones, making complex builds to mow through enemies that can be drastically scaled up in power as needed to give even better organs and better stats, so on and so forth. This game's organ-building system is extremely complex and fun to delve into. Even just grinding and seeing new organs constantly dropping from enemies gives me a constant burst of dopamine. I played 30 hours in the highly restricted demo, and the actual full game is WAY better. I can't wait to play this at work in 5-10 minute bursts every lunch break. I am hopelessly addicted! It just keeps getting better and better the more I play! If you like autistic build-prepping a character to develop new powers and abilities through complex interactions, play BW. It is an utterly unique game unlike any I've played before. Well worth a measly $7, let alone nabbing it on a 30% sale like today!

Absolutely loved the predecessor, loved the demo, and am loving the full release. A bullet heaven with a structured progression, tons of experimentation and combinations, and a charming story and style. It's kind of like if a survivors-like and a looter shooter had a baby. I highly recommend to anyone who's into video games that are all about creating broken builds (i.e. Noita, Path of Achra, Binding of Isaac, etc.)
