I Started this game as a random game to play from my un-played library. And yet another game I happily finished in one go! Oldskool point and click adventure with a nice story line, good voice acting and music , funny moments and great graphics. IMO this game deserves more up-votes, so let me start with mine. Having said that... I see in today's prices it is on the market for 30 Eur... THAT is too much. I would not pay more then 15, and you should be able to get it on sale or third party sellers for < 10 Eur.

An enjoyable adventure game. As a devotee of Beneath a Steel Sky , it gave me plenty of the nostalgic moments I was craving, while at the same time having a different aesthetic and storytelling approach. I loved every reference to the previous game, which I won't spoil here, but there are lots of them, and they're utilised well. Beyond a Steel Sky tells a rather ambitious story, and shows you far more of the new Union City than the original did of the old, and not just because of the jump to 3D: the world-building has increased dramatically. There is an amazing amount of dialogue, which might feel a bit overwhelming, but most of is optional, or can be fast-forwarded through, if that isn't your thing. The voice-acting in general is good, the standout being Eric Meyers as Robert Foster, who sounds close enough to the original to be convincing, and puts a lot of subtle inflections in his performance, so that you never get tired of listening to him. The story develops nicely, with lots of intriguing mysteries, and the gameplay puzzles are satisfying, not too easy, and not too difficult. So overall, I was entertained, and " a smile on my face" throughout both my playthroughs. I do have some minor criticisms though. The big ending is too talky, too didactic, and some of the themes it expounds upon hadn't been adequately demonstrated to be true in the main game beforehand, in my opinion. There are also some plotholes if you look for them, mostly in the characterisation department, but I can't really go into them without revealing spoilers. It's nothing horrendous, just enough to make you go "Hm. Would things really turn out that way?" or, "Would this character act this way?", that sort of thing. Mostly though, I feel that the game, while being sleek, modern and "crowd-pleasing", feels a little too safe and conventional, without the underground, pulpy quality of the original. To some extent that's a result of the game's setting, which is an AI-created utopia where everything is meant to be safe and bland. Nonetheless, the absence of a real subversive edge left me conflicted: was I supposed to cheer the fact that the sequel to one of my favourite games turned out so earnest, polished, and hip-to-market-trends, or bemoan the fact that it lacked the unique indie feel of its forebear? Ultimately, I think it's probably unfair to compare the two. When I play Beneath a Steel Sky , I'm entering my own idealised world of nineties nostalgia, where the offbeat, peculiar forms of the 2D point-and-click adventure genre constitute part of a lost past, free from modern terrors and modern pop-culture. Which is not to say I don't think Beneath is a pixel-perfect masterpiece on its own merits, I do, and I admire the way it delivers itself in such an off-hand, irreverent manner. But given the gulf of time between the two games, the huge changes in gaming, the different personnel involved, and my own imperfect subjective bias, I think Beyond a Steel Sky turned out remarkably well. For comparison, it only took three years before bonafide masterpiece Deus Ex was followed by the disappointing bastardisation of Deus Ex: Invisible War . Revolution delivered a solid sequel after 25 years, and if it does play too safe, or lacks that indefinable 1994 magic, I can forgive them for it.

1. At first , I played this game for about 1 hours and got bored very quickly because the starting 1st hours of the game is very normal/dull. 2. BUT, this game gets very interesting after you enter the UNION CITY and the ending is Very Good. 3. Although you will be spoiled, by playing this game with "director's commentary" on your 1st playthrough, it will be worth it, as it gives a lot of depth to the story and the characters and makes you immersed in the game. 4. This game's CORE game-play = is in it's puzzle mechanics and unique NPC interactions. 5. This game has puzzle hints if you get stuck in a particular puzzle BUT if you use the "hint function" you will not be able to get a "complete the game without using hint" Steam achievement on your 1st play-through - so keep this in mind. 6. Minor immersion break = Sometimes the Background characters just get in between your conversion with the unique NPCs but other than this the game runs smoothly and bug-free. 7. If you are very good at puzzle games or using a walk-through, than you can complete this game under 10 hours (single play-through) otherwise for those who play this types of games occasionally, than it will take less than 20 hours to complete. 8. This game has 2 semi-endings, I say this because the climax is same in both ending But "just the sense with a certain Unique character is is different in each ending". 9. For me , this games Rating is = 7.5/10. 10. Worth buying on sale and or when you fell like playing different type of game that you usually play. 11. NOT a must play game and can be avoided if have Zero interest in puzzle/point and click games.

I disagree that you need to have played and be nostalgic about the first game in order to appreciate this game. I've never played the first one and I love this game. Good graphics, lots of things to do and figure out and places to go. Some interesting scifi themes. You get points that move you up in society, and have to deal with pros and cons of conforming to the rules to get more points. Some of the puzzles are really hard, but it's very satisfying if you figure out the answer without help from the internet. There are some strange surreal bits that I won't spoil. I'm Australian so I appreciated the Australian accents, don't hear that much in video games. Some parts were slow or a bit repetitive but overall I recommend this game for sure.

As a fan of Beneath a Steel Sky, diving into its sequel felt like a reunion with an old friend. The game seamlessly blends nostalgia with innovation, offering familiar characters and settings alongside fresh storytelling and gameplay mechanics. Visually pleasing and filled with rich detail, the game's world drew me in from the start. The narrative, filled with intrigue and mystery, kept me hooked until the very end. This is more than just a sequel; it's a love letter to fans of the original and a testament to the enduring appeal of the adventure genre. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the series, this is a journey worth taking. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3258669396 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3154375039
