This is a beautiful heartwarming interactive game. Its art style is similar to that of Studio Ghibli. The gameplay, visuals and music are amazing. It makes for a very immersive experience.

This review is a little spoiler-ish, but it's the kind of spoilers that save lives. ======================================= Man, this ends up really underwhelming This game starts as a really charming and gorgeous little slice of life tale. Then, something weird happens right in chapter one, I shrugged and wrote it of as a videogamey shenanigans. Then, weird things continue to happen little by little and I began the bargaining stage. They can't. They can't dissolve the whole thing into this tired-аss hackery? Right?! But they could. And they did. This game has Indie_Developer_Profound_Psychological_Narrative syndrome if you know what I mean. It becomes Layers of Fear-y. Thank god it's not quite Bloober team groanworthy but it's getting there. So, then the emotional ending happens, beautiful music plays and I feel none of it. I'm mostly just annoyed. This could've be something special. Instead you can just throw it into the pile. What a shame. Still pretty tho.

While this is an abolutely gorgeous game, with beautiful animations and art. It kinda lacks a bit in the game department, so if you are just looking for a casual puzzle-esque experience with some gorgeous visuals, this is certainly the game for you, and i recommend it wholeheartly but if you wanted a bit more like me, maybe get it on sale. It's very short, though i didn't get the dlc so no idea how long that would add to the playtime. Biggest gripe i had besides the length is the slowness of the text. Like the game thinks it takes me 5 min to read a 10 word sentence... Let me go through the dialogue in my own pace please. I know it's supposed to be profound and relaxing, but it just gets irritating and makes me stress out over if the game is bugged or if im doing something wrong. Also please let me figure out the puzzles on my own and stop handholding. It's the only gameplay there is besides painting stuff even though you can't paint outside the lines. So it's just coloring book for dummies. I am being harsh but these are just my feelings, and i wont say i didn't enjoy my time, it was very pretty to look at and listen to, the story and themes were all very nice and the gameplay had some good moments.

In 2020, during the heartache of the pandemic, I found myself contemplating the fleeting nature of memory more deeply than ever before. Days stretched long and lonely, filled with a sadness that seemed to permeate everything. In those moments, it was my books, my dear younger sister and mommy and the comforting presence of my former boyfriend who held me close. There lingered an anxious fear within me, a fear that the moments shared with loved ones might slip away into the ether of forgetfulness. The uncertainty of life weighed heavily on me, whispering doubts about my own worthiness, that I wasn't good enough, never capable enough, always falling short. From the days of my childhood to this very day, I've always kept a diary close at hand. Its pages became a sanctuary where I poured out my heart's troubles and joys, albeit I don't see myself writing as often as I used to. Though my artistic talents may be humble, I found solace in sketching alongside my written thoughts. These creations, both words and drawings, became etched into my heart. Nowadays, in quiet evenings, I find myself drawn back to those cherished pages, reliving moments through scents, sights, and the faded photographs I've collected over the years. It's easy to get caught up in the rush of life, but these memories anchor us, reminding us of who we are and where we've come from. Discovering "Behind the Frame" felt like stumbling upon a kindred spirit. Its gentle narrative, exploring the lives of two artists, resonated deeply with me. Despite its brief duration, the game left an indelible mark on my heart, a reminder of the beauty found in creation and connection. As I played, tears welled in my eyes. Yes, there was sadness in Amber's story, but it served as a poignant reminder. Our memories are treasures to be nurtured, for those we love remain with us always, guiding us from the unseen realms of heaven. Though they may be gone from our sight, their presence is felt in every beat of our hearts. So let us cherish each moment, for our memories are the threads that bind us to those we hold dear, now and forevermore.

A not-so-traditional point and click game with solid art and sound design. The gameplay is a bit light (extremely straightforward puzzles, simplistic drawing mechanic). Nevertheless, they are not really the main focus of the game; the narrative is. I was nagged during the first 30 minutes by what I thought to be ludonarrative dissonance; I am glad, however, about how the narrative unfolds and explains this intentional “dissonance”. The ending is also deliberately vague and open for interpretation. Unfortunately, the free update The Jack Chapters ruins the setup by providing a boring resolution of the story. I can recommend this game for players interested in story-rich / narrative-driven games. Beware that the game is quite short: it takes around 2 hours to complete, and maybe one more hour to replay the chapters and to hunt for the missable (and super annoying) achievements (which count for two thirds of the total).
