It got this game for roughly 4 bucks and it turns out this is a surprisingly fun tank game! I played this mostly on easy, because I am relatively sure any difficulty above is balanced for multiplayer, with a controller and in PC Mode (NOT VR). Despite the Arcadey optics and base gameplay the cockpit view, weapon and sound design make this game a amazingly fun game! The is thing has everything you'd want within a tank game. Base canon, HE (heat shots) version of that canon, where the ammo splits after a certain distance, railguns, lock on missiles, lock on swarm missiles, laser directed missiles, Heavy MGs, Autocannons and Artillery. The overall gameplay seems simple. But the way it plays out is really good. For starters taking out enemies from the distance is king. Secondly, running out into the open gets you nothing but trouble so you start to consider cover. Thirdly, especially the heavy, tanks turn slow, so you start keeping enemy pings on the radar in your front, so you can keep your firing direction on the enemy as well as your front shields. It really brought back my tank training, where you move backwards out of position and the forwards into a new position to keep a low profile and your strongest protection towards the enemy. Its just very enticing to snipe enemies with an elegant arc, from behind cover and over terrain, and then get the hit and kill registration. And that's even when not using artillery. I would like to highly recommend this little game. However, as I mentioned at the start, I got this for less the 4 Bucks. And I am not sure I would necessarily recommend it for the full price of 35 Euros (or your regional equivalent) though. I am pretty sure the developers could sell many more if they at least halved the price, basically taking off the VR tax.

Very sold game with or without VR, runs great, looks great, sounds great, has unlocks without being obnoxious, everything is done in-game from your tank's cockpit. Some things might be a bit obtuse if you never played a Battlezone game before or are not used to this type of game mode with limited lives and unlocks. Only complaints I have are that binding a HOTAS was harder than expected, and each keybind can only have one key assigned to it instead of two. Some might not like the mouse acceleration feel because the tank has no horizontal traverse, only vertical, but once you get used to it, it feels just fine. However, I do find the pricetag to be very steep, I remember I bought this game around 2018 and the price has not changed since then.

Things to keep in mind when you play this game... There is a lives system, and if you run out, your run is over and you have to restart. Things that you unlock in your arsenal however are for keeps, so it's your Dead Cells/Binding of Isaac gameplay all over again only you don't need to restart whenever you quit - only when you run out of lives. I only ever played single player and here's the deal about that... DO NOT PLAY CONQUEST LEVELS. Enemies respawn ad infinitum and you'll never be able to finish those maps because allies do not respawn. This is a guaranteed defeat condition for you because the devs didn't realize they should've capped the number of enemies spawning. Also, the lives system can burn in Hell.

7/10 Having played this back when I had a PSVR, I thought this was a descent early VR game. A simple roguelike reamagine of the original arcade game, and one of the few roguelikes I actually like. Most of the time you die, it is your fault, but there are some times were RNG will screw you, like the placement and stock of shops that can make or break a run. Thankfully there are multiple difficulty options and 3 different map sizes. And there's also a VR recreation of that original game. Worth playing but get it on sale. Still waiting on a sequal to that action strategy game that was BZ98 and BZ2

I have been wanting this game for a while. It looked like the regular price for it is 34.99. It went on sale today for 3.84$ so I had to buy it. The reason I wanted it was because I really liked the old arcade battlezone game with vector graphics. I also like tank battle games and mech games for the same reason. The controls feel pretty good for this game. The controls are like pretty typical first person shooter style controls. You can key-bind the game the way you want. The graphics for this game pretty neat! The graphics to this game remind me of the tron movies. I was able to set it at 1080p easy enough. I would imagine they intended this game mostly for multiplayer matches. It has a quake 3 arena single player like levels. That was fun enough for me. This is an old game. It might be hard to play multiplayer. The game seems like a fun tank shoot-em up game. Here is my youtube video where I am playing this game: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDhd_sd9hJ4
