Bastion is a visually striking and emotionally resonant action RPG that blends engaging gameplay with a powerful narrative. Developed by Supergiant Games, the game follows a young protagonist known as "The Kid" as he navigates a shattered world, battling enemies and restoring the environment using a mystical structure known as the Bastion. The gameplay is fast-paced and rewarding, with responsive combat, a variety of weapons, and a focus on skillful movement and strategy. The level design is creative, offering a mix of linear stages and free-roaming exploration, all set in beautifully hand-painted environments. The game's unique narration system—where the narrator comments on the Kid’s actions in real-time—adds a layer of immersion and storytelling that sets Bastion apart. The soundtrack is another highlight, with a memorable, atmospheric score that complements the game’s tone perfectly. The world-building is rich, and the story, while simple, explores themes of loss, hope, and rebuilding in a way that feels impactful. Overall, Bastion is a gem of a game with tight gameplay, an unforgettable soundtrack, and a narrative that lingers long after the credits roll. It’s a must-play for fans of action RPGs and anyone looking for a deep, emotional experience.

The first game created by Supergiant Games has aged phenomenally. Bastion has every bit of charm now from when it was initially released. The narration is truly top-notch . Not only is the story, characters, and the world described through it, but subtle information regarding the direction of progression, enemies, and hazards are as well if you pay enough attention. How the player interacts with the level materializing around them is fantastic. The music is stellar and the combat is engaging. Decision-making in the form of upgrades, difficulty modifiers, and stage choices has importance, yet nothing is missable. Superbly designed and cannot recommend this experience enough!

10/10. Zero flaws imo. Never feels repetitive, always feels fresh (even on the third play-through). Lots of skill-based upgrades, not just 'wait-and-you'll-get-stronger', so it actually feels rewarding when you get better at a certain weapon. Beautiful artwork, music, sarcasm, narration and world-building. Genuinely interesting story delivered in a very immersive and fluent game-language; literally zero cut-scenes or jarring NPC monologues. Has a really warm, cosy feel to it, but still manages to get your heart pounding at certain points (did I mention the excellent music?). 10/10

Great Game. The story is very well done and the gameplay, while simple is great. The weapon and skills variety was good as well. The art style is very pretty and makes the game age really well. The game can be as easy or as challenging as you want using the idols which I really liked. It's a 10 hour game if you are only aiming to complete the story and a 20 hour game if you're aiming to get all the achievements. 9/10
