This game is just about nostalgia, i was playing it every week-ends on Play Station 2, days and nights long with my friend when we were young. What a great surprise to see it coming on computer, i finished it again, alone and with my girlfriend and that was great fun. My only regret to be honest is that 20 years later, it is not a remaster, an enhanced or whatever improved version you would call, it is just... a port... At a 30 euros price tag, to me it feels like a deception, and only fans of the first hours looking for nostalgia might find it worth it. It would have been greatly appreciated to see a full remaster or even a remake of this masterpiece, but i could not complain, i was happy to venture once again through this awesome title !

Excellent game, I would like to play the Champions of Norrath games again if you bring them to Steam I and I am sure many others would pick them up!

I love this game. Simple plot, simple characters, simple controls. Just good, old fashioned hack n slash dungeon crawling fun. Before I go further it's important to note that Baldur's Gate is a city in the Forgotten Realms setting of Dungeons & Dragons. The Dark Alliance games have NOTHING to do with the Baldur's Gate series of games made by Bioware/Larian other than the name of the city the 2 series of games take place in. Plays mostly like an ARPG but for some reason doesn't really feel exactly like one. Partially because of the controls. You can WASD your character for a start. You can customize keyboard controls which I did for a few controls that seemed a little inconvenient to press while using WASD. I also switched things that I've used as a standard for years like changing jump to space bar. *default: z (so this one falls into both categories.) So far I've only really played Kromlech. Leveling sometimes gives you a point in one of your core stats and each level you get points to spend on passive and active abilities. (As well as additional health/mana) Each one has improved benefits per tier and costs more points each tier. You also don't get piles of gear thrown at you like most ARPGs. Each act has a hub and each hub has a vendor. The vendor usually sells about 3 sets of armor and a decent variety of weapons. The first vendor only sells a few magic weapons. You won't be upgrading constantly, but steadily and usually in small increments. In Act one I was mostly saving up for the set of Scale armor. (And the flaming long sword that I got as a reward at the end of Act I anyway.) I will mention there's no manual and there's more than a few things you'll probably be scratching your head about. 'of disruption' I believe will give a chance to completely disintegrate an undead opponent if you get a critical hit. A weapon that's "keen" gives a higher chance to score a critical hit. Voice acting is decent enough, as is the music. Nothing spectacular, nothing too terrible. I think some of its biggest strengths lie in its relative simplicity and decent design choices. Since you'll be doing a lot of selling of items you find, you're given a staircase back to the hub/city every couple of levels which are fairly small, fairly linear, and easy to navigate. You'll also start to get recall potions which allow you to instantly teleport back to your hub (changes per act) where your vendor and quest givers are. When you're done, simply hit recall again and you'll be teleported back to the spot you left from. So you won't find an amazing, heart wrenching story or characters you'd give your life to save here, but what you will find is a pretty fun hack n slash game, now remastered and free from consoles. Highly recommend if you're into that sort of thing.

Played on the PS2 20 years ago and relived the nostalgia now. Runs well and I was able to use an xbox controller to play.
