Very simple yet very versatile game with its wide variety of map designs and enemy types and traits forcing you to constantly change tactics. I wouldn't replace anything but i would probably add a fourth class and some new enemies and items if this game gets updated again i hope.

I can easily say that Bad North will forever be one of my favorite games. Its stunning visuals, combined with strategic and relaxed game-play makes for an absolutely wonderful experience regardless of the difficulty you play on. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking to play, especially if you like strategy games and the like. In easier game modes its a breeze, and in harder it's a challenge. But I can guarantee that you'll enjoy it all the same, regardless if you're a casual or a try-hard. 10/10. Absolutely wonderful job developers <3 Keep it up.

Bought this while its on sale for $3. At that price this is 100% worth it. This is a fun little game with really simple, but well executed mechanics that I currently believe provides game play depth beyond their level of simplicity. It basically takes a small dose of RTS strategy and packages it into a simplified and quicker, action type tower defense. Leaving you with a game play loop that involves coming up with a basic strategy at the start based on the island's layout and then adapting as they throw waves of enemies at you by moving your troops around the little island as necessary. I do have some concerns about how long this game will actually hold my attention based on the fact that there are only 3 classes, with fairly linear upgrade paths, and limited items to find. Thus I am only recommending this at its current sale price and will update this when I have more play time to determine if I think its worth a buy at, or close to its full price. Normally I'd just wait to leave a review, but I'm having such a fun time with this little game that I wanted to drop a review now while its still on sale, and at a price I definitely feel is worth it.

The Good: The gameplay itself is very smart and well tuned. Units aren't just abstracted combination of dps and survivability stats but actually have distinct interactions that go beyond how numerically jacked they are. Every non-brute unit seemingly goes down to a single unobstructed hit, no number of short ranged melee can do much to a wall of pikes on a hill, archers alone can deal with enemies before they land, and so on. There is also a pleasing subtly/elegance/intelligence to unit behaviours; fodder enemies wait for their allies before rushing, pikes falter, infantry hold formation before charging vulnerable foes, etc. The bad: It's succumbed to the Roguelike(tm) gameplay loop padding. In this case it's particularly idiotic. Each run can only unlock single starting item and two starting traits, and a run gives you like 60 turns before your last stand and you're expected to be doing multiple fights in some turns! Higher skill expressions are mostly about micro and enemy prediction (with no UI assistance.)

Very satisfying game in both visuals and in the sounds and music. Pretty difficult, but addicting and fun. Uses a lot more strategic planning and thinking than most tower defense type games. Overall Score: 8/10
