I've really enjoyed this title, especially at the price. A few tedious issues, but nothing that I can't get past while playing with friends.

This is probably tied with my favorite Backrooms game with Escape the Backrooms, what it lacks in .... let's say "craftsmanship" as ETB this one has a lot of heart and fun ideas, from the roguelike mode, to the gathering items, to my favorite being how sometimes you fall somewhere absurd like in the maze map which was the most me and my group laughed in a long while in a game. Some things that could be fun but i'm no progammer so no idea how feasible it is, in maps that have different levels to it like the aforementioned maze, it would be very intense and fun if instead of entering the creases to go to different places it would be possible to just in a let's say 1/10000 chance every step you simply fall into the other level. Also something that could be fun would be a map item, but for example only obtainable from the black markets on the level so you would still have to explore, or a way to map yourself the rooms and have the parchment and something to draw on be quite rare; quite honestly me and my friends have memories of goldfish, we played the mines 3x in a row and we got lost all of them, we just remembered that when we found the black market we were in the home stretch.

Puzzles. Monsters. And most importantly...LLOOORRRREEE!!! Simple beginnings but I can't wait to see where this game goes! I'm hooked! The puzzles aren't that difficult as long as you practice well and learn how to have a good sense of direction. Well done!

Lil rambly rant about what I think is one of the best Backrooms games on Steam. The title ain't lyin', it really do feel like a society down here and I'm all for it. The idea of adapting to and learning to live in an otherworldly place full of fucked up monsters is perfect for the Backrooms. This game makes me feel like I have something TO DO besides run, hide, and escape. So many games skip out on the expeditionary and survival aspects of the concept (which is my favorite part), but this one really hones in on it. I appreciate the contract system immensely. They're little things like gathering/transporting supplies to outposts, getting pictures of entities, etc, and these little things really add a whole lot to vary the gameplay. Then coming back to get a reward and store items or trade at base camp adds a layer of coziness to the routine. The Metro has got to be my favorite addition. One of my main gripes with the game was that the levels weren't procedural, but now with this update, there's the option of exploring procedural, undocumented levels. And with them, there's an added element of investigation with having to document entities, past exploration, and whatever for rewards. It just furthers the sense of discovery. It's great and makes my brain very happy. I'd been waiting for a long while for someone to make a Backrooms game like this, I am happy to say this one is literally the exact thing I wanted. And, it all comes together with lots of silly quirky charm that really gives it its own identity. It gets better with every update. Snatch up some friends and play it. <3

As a fan of the ā€œEscape the Backroomsā€ and ā€œInside the Backroomsā€ games, I had high hopes for "Backroom Society." Unfortunately, the experience fell short of expectations. Touted as a co-op horror game with RPG elements, "Backroom Society" promises an intriguing blend of crafting, exploration, and fulfilling contracts. However, it might not hit the mark for everyone. Gameplay & Pacing: "Backroom Society" starts with an ambitious premise, tasking players with navigating massive mazes to collect items, fulfill contracts, and earn money. The objectives range from gathering simple materials like plastic and cardboard to crafting tools essential for progression, such as ladders and cameras. This setup could have paved the way for an exciting blend of strategy and survival, but the execution feels lacking. The mazes are excessively large, turning what should be an exhilarating exploration into a tedious and repetitive chore. The game rapidly becomes monotonous, as players find themselves wandering through seemingly endless corridors with little variation or excitement. Mechanics & Features: The RPG-like elements, where players must craft items and manage resources, add a layer of depth to the game. The hub or lobby area, populated with quirky NPCs and shops, provides a brief respite from the monotony, allowing players to buy, sell, and plan their next moves. Yet, the need to grind through tasks to earn enough money to advance feels more like a job than a leisurely game. Social Play: One notable aspect is the gameā€™s design for group play. With complexities and challenges that could easily overwhelm smaller groups or solo players, "Backroom Society" seems best suited for larger parties. Groups of four or more might find it easier to navigate the expansive mazes and share the burden of the repetitive tasks, potentially making the experience more enjoyable. Final Thoughts: While "Backroom Society" has the foundation of an engaging game, it struggles significantly with pacing and engagement. The vast, repetitive mazes and the grinding nature of the tasks can lead to frustration and boredom. This might be a game to try if you're into meticulous exploration and have a group of friends to join you; otherwise, you might find the other Backroom games more rewarding and fun.
