Not a Left 4 Dead 3, but very fun. As long as you see it as it's own spin on the coop shooter genre it's really good. The gunplay is enjoyable and I really like the card system. It has it's problems, but nothing major (aside from no longer being supported by the devs). If the game had more modding support and if the devs revisit it, this might be one of the best coop shooters out there. As it stands it's still one of my favourite games I've played recently. Reply to the comment: From some of the people behind L4D, sure. I have both played Left 4 Dead 2 for hundreds of hours and played this for over 100hrs and can say that both games can stand on their own and be fun. I love L4D but I don't have to hate this game because it's not the same. L4D has a huge amount of mods and if i just want to play singleplayer or offline it's great fun. It's was also great for when I did not have a pc powerful enough to run newer games. I like the writing more and it still holds up in many ways. (Can't say much about multiplayer due to me not being that experienced and most of my friends don't care for it) B4B is great in it's own ways. I like the card system, building decks that work well with each other in coop is cool and keeps us experimenting. I like being able to mod my weapons and the loot makes me want to explore each map a bit more. I also enjoy the hives and their designs (though get a bit repetative after a while). Both games have fun levels and both have fun lore and story bits. If you are short on money or don't have a powerful pc or constant internet connection then you'll probably enjoy L4D more. If you already played L4D a lot and want to try something else or are looking for a decent coop shooter kinda similar to games like Vermintide or Darktide (i guess) with more modern weapons get this on sale. Either way you can have fun with both and should not write this off, just because it wasn't a Left 4 Dead sequel.

Listen, I know the bad publicity around this game, and I agree with most of it, Crowbcatā€™s video nails it down pretty perfectly, so Iā€™m gonna give my opinion right away. Iā€™ve tried this game when it was in beta, I DID NOT like it at all, bashed it, then played when it was on Xbox Gamepass too, still it was bad. But now, itā€™s kinda good. Still not worth the full price, but itā€™s much better and enjoyable compared to launch. Itā€™s a pity it took them so long to figure everything out, and it is disgusting how they abandoned the game after 3 PAID expansions, all a few months apart. This game still deserves the negative review for all the things I mentioned, but in order to balance it out and show you itā€™s not that crap, Iā€™m giving it a positive one. Co-op survival genre is kind of my jam. L4D and L4D2 were my favorite games back then, Iā€™ve been playing them since launch. Killing Floor 1&2, Vermintide II are the others I enjoy a lot. So when TRS marketed this game as ā€œcreators from L4Dā€ people expected a L4D quality game, and it still is not that quality. I think one of the main reasons that this game tanked so bad is that r*****ed marketing campaign ā€œfrom L4Dā€™s creatorsā€. They literally asked for it, to be held in L4D standards and they were. This game still does not have the responsiveness or ragdoll effects of L4D, or as some people call it ā€œhit feedbackā€, but it feels relatively better all-around than launch. The build/card mechanic was bad, and hard to understand for some, now itā€™s very intuitive. To be frank, it was not a good design choice to have a deckbuilding and drawing mechanics of a card game in a survival shooter; even though both genres are up my alley, I hadnā€™t enjoyed the crossover at launch. But now, itā€™s different. You have a deck; you start with that deck. Theyā€™re simply builds that contain 15 perks of your choice. Build consistency simply feels better, and itā€™s good that they ditched an artificial mechanic to increase replayability, there are already other stuff to make levels feel different anyway. Besides; in order to unlock cards and make builds youā€™ll be going through levels multiple times, and in this genre itā€™s sort of normal to play same levels again and again. This one just rewards you with items and cards, like how Vermintide does with drops. Performance is great right now, again I remember game performing worse at launch. Character design, both survivors and zombies, falls short compared to Left 4 Dead, but this has already been mentioned many times. The game did a bad job when it came to teaching the mechanics at launch, but I think itā€™s better now, at least I can figure out only using the UI without pulling up Google. TRS deserve all the negativity surrounding the game because of the s**t they pulled. B4B is now an OK game that can be get on sale. But again, donā€™t expect to go in as if this is L4D3. It isnā€™t but itā€™s OK.

played it right up to when TR abandonded it. it is a good game in its own right with quite a lot of replay value due to the card/progression systems. I would never call this a successor to l4d, however; it's more of a divergent path down a more tactical/thoughtful experience Buuuuuut the fact that they're still charging 60 bones for it is really silly. Get it on sale for like ten bucks.

I won't compare this to left 4 dead, if I did It would sound worse than it actually is just due to how good Left 4 Dead was. Back 4 Blood had a (right deserved) rough start, the game launched in an abysmal state. Glitches and bugs that ended your run, AI that was atrocious and got you killed repeatedly, insane difficulty spikes that made the game go from too easy to impossible in a snap, god awful progression/card systems that stalled gameplay, and more. Almost every one of these issues has been fixed, albeit in the bare minimum of ways, but fixed none the less. The result is the game is no longer painful to play, and a game that I would have said is a 3/10 before is now more of a 7/10 for it's current much lower price (full price is still not really worth it content wise). So yeah, get the gold edition during the super sale, have a blast through it once with friends, enjoy it, and probably never play it again. That's fine, you'll get that $10 worth of value I promise.
