I don't do reviews.. ever.. but honestly stellar game, the gameplay is a unique spin on TDs in general and with every map potentially being different each time you play it the replayability is higher too. the tower mixing and combinations are fun and there's enough variance that there are lots of different strategies you can take with it. also big shout out to the devs for being active in the community too, I dropped a comment in one of their hotfix posts about an issue I had and they were very prompt in responding and fixing the issue which is a great thing that I wish more devs did. two thumbs up on the stellar game. the fact that it's got a well done and balanced coop mode is great too, it's really hard trying to find good coop td games.

A fantastic TD game with very strategic mazing and tower choice. With a significant skill floor and ceiling, players new to the TD genre will struggle to survive Normal difficulty while veterans will crush Hard. This is not a game where you can place down the coolest looking tower in the middle-ish and win. Given the ability to add and remove tiles, many maps can be "broken" with creative mazing that the devs never intended; and they encourage it! There's (at the time of this review) 2 game modes in Axon TD: Quickplay and Survival. Quickplay has a definitive number of waves (10-20) were you first try to survive then return to optimize and beat your score to reach the leaderboards. Survival has up to 120 waves so you essentially "max" out a maze with meta-progression from a tech tree of perks to continually progress and push for a new highest wave reached. Campaign is a blend between the two: small wave counts with a distinct unlock progression and a story to follow along. Both game modes offer a distinct game feel, practically splitting the community into two groups of players. It also causes issues with tower and unit balance since they both share the same stats: one is about surviving minimalism while the other is about maxing. The Quickplay mode the closest TD I've played to scratching my EntropyTD itch, which is impressive since it's the GOAT of TDs in my eyes. Many of the skills I learned from it transferred over very well to sweep the Quickplay leaderboards. The developers are very receptive to feedback; adding simple QoL, balancing based on feedback, squish bugs as reported. While the game is young, it has a great foundation to smooth out the rough edges. Advice for newer players: the biggest killer is during the later waves when multiple types of Axons overlap. Their passive and AOE abilities when stacked on top of each other are multiplicatively more lethal than their individual components. glhf! 10/10.

I put hundreds of hours into Defense Grid 1 and 2 and have never found any other tower defense game that scratched that itch until now. Axon takes what made DG great (the pathing and mazing) and builds on it with the ability to totally change the map by adding and blocking tiles to make the enemies go exactly where you want them to go. Replaying a map allows you to take a different approach every time, increasing replayability and making the traditional TD grinding (for XP and unlocks) even more fun. I'm really enjoying it so far and look forward to many more hours of play thanks to the built-in map editor and Workshop support. If you love Defense Grid, you'll love this game.

A good tower defense game, need to think and reasonable planning, the placement of the defense tower will directly affect the enemy's line of action. The game can be customized to edit the map, playability is relatively high.

I love good Tower Defense games and this one is great for me, I def recommend it. PROS: Decent upgrades I had fun choosing. Fun little story... though sad it feels a bit cliff hangerish at the end. Hopefully add more in the future! Good maps. Fun turret selection in general. I love the survival system and the maps. I love the Block/Recycle/Add mechanic II love that placing turrets on Blocks boosts those turrets. CONS: 1) The turret targeting option are absolute trash. I have anti-armor weapons, can I choose "Aim for the dudes with armor?" Nope. I have EMP turrets and a bajillion shielded enemies, can I choose "Hit each one once and move on!"? Nope. They shoot the SAME guy a bajillion times. 1b) Even when I set a Targeting for a turret it doesn't always DO it, or at least now how I expect. 2) Some weapons def feel better than others of the same type. Of the EMP weapons there is just one generally useful one. 2b) Some turrets do so little it hurts. The Earth Shaker or whatever it's called? Did unnoticably small amounts of damage, even to enemies that were close, where it theoretically did the most. One of the ground traps does a whopping 5 damage over 4 seconds. Deeply underwhelming for something that costs that much, even if it does bypass S and A.
