Before talking about Astronomics, it's important to mention Factorio and Satisfactory. These games set the bar incredibly high for automation, making any attempt to mimic them feel like a weaker, clumsier copy. But Astronomics doesn’t try to compete directly with them. Instead, it takes a different approach: it does less, but in a way that’s much more fun. Unlike games where automation is the main goal from the start, Astronomics challenges you with efficiency, planning, and time management. Automation emerges naturally over time, not as a requirement, but as a byproduct of optimizing your gameplay. It feels more like a classic arcade game from the Atari or NES era, where simplicity hides a deep and rewarding challenge. Here, you don’t build massive bases. Instead, you land on an asteroid, extract resources, and must leave before it drifts too far from your main base. The way you tackle challenges evolves as you progress, and once you master the mechanics, the next challenge becomes managing an overwhelming surplus of resources gathered in record time. If you enjoy games that test your planning skills without drowning you in unnecessary complexity, Astronomics is an excellent choice.

It's alright. Chill game. Main complaint is it's too much grind. You'll find yourself doing 3-5 full runs just to afford basic ship upgrades or gear. Ship upgrades are especially pricey - you have to sink in so much ore that you could've sold for points, and then have to pay absurd amounts of said points to finalize upgrade. Just unlocked manufacturing of advanced materials after 16 hours...which makes the game even more time consuming and grindy. I don't mind grind but this shit is on another level. Maybe the devs will balance some things out eventually.

I didn't get 41 hours of play out of the game, I have a bad tendency to pause and go AFK for extended periods of time. Additionally, the *current* gameplay loop unintentionally encourages you to go AFK for extended periods because of race conditions between asteroid mining, manufacturing recipe selection and delays from ~ 1 minute manufacturing cycle per craft. I would estimate that there was about 10-15 hours of play and that was artificially inflated because of manufacturing delays. (Three stations, 4 types of asteroids per region, lots of upgrades and blueprints to play with.) Devs have said on the official discord they will be tuning the manufacturing to align better with intended gameplay loop and they have received multiple people commenting on the current tuning with lots of different potential solutions. I expect that by Update 2 we should see a change, hopefully an improvement. (Update 2 is speculated to be April/May 2025.) The game is just shy of very polished. I ran into a number of bugs (early access warning) but overall I had a very enjoyable time playing the game and I found engagement with the devs (it appears to be a small dev team, only two people on discord) pleasant. They're nice peeps and go out of their way to fix bugs almost daily at this point. I'm not entirely sure when they have time to add more content, but I expect as the polish on the current update improves they will shift to other work (or they work on update and fixes in turn, or the team is larger than I can see. Lots of possibilities, and a long winded 'I dont know.') Just because someon else complained about this, it's important to recognize-- this is NOT an automation/manufacturing game. The gameplay is top down, kind of ARPG, kind of platformer. It does scratch the "seeking the most efficient gameplay loop possible" itch for me. I look forward to Update 2 and a return to Astronmics.

After having played a little, I have to say that this is a very relaxing game to play and you should definitely try it out. Since the game is still in early access i'd like to leave a bit of feedback for the devs if they are interested. I am currently playing around the second station so I have not experienced mid to late game. However I feel like I have spotted a few improvements. Controls: One of the first things I noticed is that the vertical camera movements seem a bit too confined, I personally think that adding 5 to 10% additional rotation angle would help the game feel a bit better to play. Gameplay: Maybe add a small chance to find some higher level resources that are not listed on the scanner hidden deep within the rocks. Small findings like that can often make the game more enjoyable for players, we all like that little dopamine hit of finding "treasure" Consider allowing the player to jump in the station so we can hop the fence when going to sell resources. Also the sound of the cranes sounds a lot like my phone is vibrating, which tricked me a couple times, but got a bit annoying. Consider changing this sound too. Note: Overall the game is beautiful and right up my alley. The gameplay loop is also really enjoyable. Good job on the development so far and best of luck with future updates :)

Super fun space mining automation game There are quite a few things that I love and hate about the game Pros: - Core gameplay loop is super addictive - There is definetly a lot of thought into the numbers in regards to what the upgrades give you and core progression through the game -Many playstyles are viable though with the current limited amount of equipment there are not many to begin with Cons: - Somewhat RNG on progression as you need certain asteriod belts to get the materials to be able to upgrade your ship (Ex. in 4.5 hours I have yet to get an asteriod that gave me cobalt) Overall: 8.7/10 I can see quite a nice vision as to what this game could become and though 20USD is steep considering what it is now, it is quite cheap for what it will become. Would recommend to buy if you want to help with the development of the project.
