Ubisoft added achievements so I am happy to provide a positive review. Please add achievements to your other older games and I will buy them as well. Hell I'll buy them now to provide the cash to pay the Ubisoft employee that will add the achievements. The game is great, if you enjoyed AC Odyssey, AC Origins or open world games with a good story you will like this.

Honestly it's just an okay Assassin's Creed. There's a lot to explore but it's more of a checklist than anything most of the time. A bunch of different armors that you'll never use because you'll find one good one and stick with it. Same with weapons. I do like how the look of some armor and weapons changes based on how much you upgrade them. Combat is probably the best thing in the game, but the skills are kinda... meh? With the DLCs you get like like 4 or 5 skills that do the same thing, but slightly different. Overall, I prefer the previous games more. 6/10.

I'd been thinking for a few hours before I finished the game whether to give it a positive or negative review but ultimately I enjoyed it more than I despised it. The main problem with Valhalla is that it is so. DAMN. Big. The story parts are mostly fine and yet there are so many different sagas, so many substories, that I had long forgotten about most of them by the time I finished. And the one issue I have with the main storyline is that it has no ending. It just stops. "You did all we asked and want some closure? Fuck you, free roam instead!" The game is filled to the brim with side-content and, well, it is the Ubisoft (duh) shitty side-content all over the place. The first few hours are fun, later they become these annoying icons on your map that you know you will not bother with since the rewards are not worth it. As always. On the plus side, the music is absolutely incredible. Hearing the vikings sing on longships, in longhouses, or meadhalls was always a pleasure. The graphics are phenomenal as well albeit there were plenty of visual bugs. As for the gameplay - well, the fighting was kinda fun but not really. Nothing challenging, sometimes frustrating when a stick on legs with a spear blocks a viking with monumental posture who fights with double-handed swords in both hands. The longboat gameplay, so all the raids and such, started to bore me to death after four or five times. I have only beaten the base game and I have no intention to play the DLCs as I am just simply tired of it. Too much unnecessary content with too little meaning. However, I've seen it to the end and cared about the main characters, the main storyline was actually pretty good and engaging, I cannot give it a negative review; though, if there were ratings here, I would give it a solid 5+/10.

The game itself is a lot of fun, the graphics are great and some of the quests are really entertaining. The biggest problem with the game is the grind, you can tell that a lot of artificial progress walls have been put in place to tempt you to buy "time savers" from the in game store. This will always be bad practice and I hate it. Overall the game is good, but personally I would only pick it up at a discount so that Ubisoft get as little money as possible out of principle. Stop the pay to win mechanics and I'll gladly pay more for your games.
