Pretty good old school fps barely containing shooting gameplay as it's mostly melee combat. I love the look of it, the gameplay, the variety of combat (with tons of weapons, items and runes to use), the level design, the humor, the amount of content it has for a really low price. Biggest downsides I see are the technical aspects. -performance could be way better. I mean this game rarely reaches 60 fps, often you get around 30-40. For the 90s-graphics this is kinda bad -"quick" saving and loading takes quite a long time -it does have a few bugs, nothing gamebreaking though -like ai getting stuck in obstactles a bit too often -or how you can abuse a glitch where you save before a fight, use a strength potion, then reload the save. Then for some reason you will still be under the effect of the potion but it won't be gone from your inventory -Using the runes is very fun but you only find them in secrets. Which at least means secrets in this game are very rewarding (looking at you Boltgun), but you also kinda have to get them to get the most fun out of it and to even beat the highest difficulty. At least most secrets aren't that hard to find. To sum this game up, it's basically Witchaven in (pretty) good, I guess. Just led down a bit by mostly technical aspects.

Fyi, while the Steam page says there's no controller support, the dev did add in controller support. Took a bit of fiddling to get it feeling the way I wanted it to, but now runs like a dream. Great boomer shooter-esque vibes, and I can't wait to play more of it.

I love the art style. The combat is meaty and the level design feels good. The interior areas, in particular, are very detailed and the secrets are fun to search for. I love the attention to detail in the secret areas. For example, I knocked down a wall to find a crawlspace under some stairs and there was a spider corpse curled up in there. Little touches like that make a big difference. I did experience some problems with screen tearing. But using v-sync and turning the framerate cap to Unlimited helped greatly.

So, Ive beaten the main campaign and found most of the secrets, but definitely not all of them and considering the weapons, level design, monsters, and extra features, i'm very impressed with this witchaven/boomer hack-n-slash. Reminds me of the good old days. A good value for the money i'd say, i'll probably play another 5 ish to unlock the humanly sane achievements and such and $1 a hour is a pretty good return on investment, but with all the features this could definitely be player 20-25 hours. I hope there's a sequel at some point!
