I think the game is OK, but it does have some issues, so much so that I don't feel like it's worth $30. As of this review you can only make tanks in the time period of WW1 and with only one nation; the United Kingdom (NO BIAS AGAINST THE UK, I LOVE TANKS FROM THE UK). Sorry France, Germany, Russia, US, Japan, and many other nations that I didn't put in this sentence because if I did it would take this review forever to get through. Look I love WW1 but I also love WW2 and the Cold War; but not having at least another time period or nation to play is a bad start for a game advertising it as such. Bugs are also an issue more so for the training grounds and interface. Now on to the things I love. You have complete freedom to customize tanks for selling. You can even attach tank part from other nations if your nation captures tanks belonging to another nation which I think is cool. The game even lets you research tank parts that was more so concepts on blue prints, giving you the ability to make cool and wacky tanks that you may not have even thought possible. Heck, I made a Mark V tank with humongous tank treads. I'll leave the game a good review for now but I would only recommend this game if you just really love tanks a lot; basically a tank nerd. However, just because I got what I wanted out of this game doesn't mean you will; hopefully the game will improve overtime as it is still in early access. Thank you for reading my review, sorry that my review is long. EDIT: As of right now, Interwar period tanks are now able to be developed; so relax the game has not been abandoned. Though I still wish they gave you the option to play as other nations tank development companies. I hope they keep adding new things to the game in the next upcoming months.

Well , when i am writing this, i have more then 75 hours of game play and i must say, it one of the last true tycoon games, you build, you R&D and you spy, this game not only worth the money in my mind (i don't remember the last time i enjoyed something for more then 70 hours for this price . The devs are very responsive on discord and here and gives you a good vibe of "family" project and for me it also very very important . now about the game loop: 1. research parts for tank 2. plan tank 3. build tank 4. ?????? 5. profit! sounds simple right? well in its core it is, but build bad tank, you lose, you don't manage you money right you lose, losing here (even on the mid difficulty) is likely, making it for me a good balance, otherwise it is too easy to steamroll the completion and the game. things i would improve: 1. bring back the tank fights (in the demo you have ability to see you tank in battle, not just drive/shoot it alone) 2. they are working on more content all the time, because of this when they release a huge update (like they did 2 months ago) it is better to start from the start then from the point you started because the values of research and such are inflated to not finish so fast 3. i wish there was a real game impact for all the diplomacy and conquest done right now in the game ( it planned for the future but i want it now! so all the bad stuff are actually fixable and they working hard on making this game happen. if you have an itch for tycoon game, this is it, and go for it!

I love this game. It's a management game closest to games like Frostpunk, Farthest Frontier, Railway Empire, Solaris kind of thing. There's very little to see in terms of moving parts. You won't be driving your tanks around the battlefields of Europe while shells whistle past your ears. You spend nearly all of your time switching from the generic factory screen to the individual screens of the various buildings in your factory - R&D, Engineering, Production etc. In fact, the only "gamey" bit - where you drive the tanks you've created around a test track - is the weakest part of the whole game. I stopped doing that pretty quickly (it's not compulsory). At first, I thought this was too complex, but actually it really isn't once you suss out the R-E-D order of doing things - Research your part, Engineer the various parts together, Design the whole tank. And there are possibly thousands of ways of designing hundreds of components with which you can make an infinite number of types of dozens of different tank models. There is challenge too. The economy ticks along, and you have to make a profit, but maybe the countries which put out the contracts don't like your carefully designed tin can. There's something brutal about spending an age R-E-Ding your tank, only to see the guys you're trying to sell it to rank it as less than useless. But with practice comes perfection - or at least production which is good enough to start making money. And with money comes upgrades to your factory, more raw materials, engineers to speed up your processes, more workers, and presumably a big fat cigar in the virtual boardroom. Above all, this game has that "one-more-turn" catch which drags you in to just fulfilling one more contract, or designing that medium tank you think would be your next big seller. And suddenly it's 2am. Bugger. I recommend this.

Alright. Someone has to sit down and make you realize what this game, speaking as of [28.08.2024.] I will be editing this once we get further into development. [Everything in brackets like these is the just added or changed stuff in the review.] [Next edit will occur upon the arrival of the WW2 update. Time of said updates arrival is yet unknown.] This is an Early Access Title. The Devs were clear on this, never claimed the game to be what it promises to be in a year. What is the game right now? [The Current Game still revolves around the WW1 and Inter War Years of Tank history, not going beyond it, as of now. The Devs are, as mentioned, hard working on the future WW2 era stuff, which I will also mention is an undertaking that is fair to take a while given the sheer amount of stuff on that list to add, just like it was for the inter war, which they made clear is coming when it does.] Should I buy it? Yes. Well, maybe. I am a man that has been waiting for this game for a while, and despite lacking what I hoped for, not what was promised, what I hoped for, as of now, it is still a fun experience. Given with all the things on the horizon and the grand help it can be to a Dev to have folks play and buy this game early on I would say Consider it with a strong leaning towards Yes. You are buying a Early Access title, you should not expect more than this, and that is not saying awful Early Access Steam title, im talking Properly done, run of the mil, first proper game to be made Early Access title bound to be the next big one out there, hopefully spawning this Genre of War Systems designing games. People Sound mad in other Reviews, Why should I take your word over theirs? They forget what this game was like in the Alpha's an Beta's they recall. or did not even play them at all and just jump onto the hate train. It all falls back to my slightly odd wording earlier, the game lacking "what I hoped for", can be resaid to mean it lacks what they hoped for and clearly expected to be in the game day 1, despite that not being claimed. It is people whom confused their own hopes with Dev promises. Make yourself a picture for now, or watch videos on its current state, keep track about stuff on their Discord or simply wait for this Game to have stellar reviews. Do not write it off though. That is all im asking you to do, for your own sake. for now. As said, I will come back to edit this and change my review when more stuff comes about to give you a proper sense of the games state and views on it. For now, its good. Nothing incredible not even great, but good with a lot of air up and the goal to reach those ups. I was here Minute 1, Bug testing and helping where I could. [Now with the Inter War update released, we all got a lot of more fun things to play with and get us hyped up for the next stages of this game.]

TLDR: Promising start with a lot of potential on a solid foundation. Scratches an itch I wasn't aware I had. This has been one of the better Tycoon experiences I've had in a long time and I can see myself losing days of time should the simulation expand upon what they already have here. Positives: -In-depth Design of tanks, with a plethora of parts and customization options that gradually ramps up as wars pass. -Tanks you sell will be used in combat and essentially graded on performance. Poor performance affects your ability to negotiate future contracts. -Ability to steal other companies(or countries) tank designs. Implementing their tech into your own. -You get to Test Drive your designs. -The core game-play loop is satisfying and fun. Really additional eras will only make this game better. With the escalation of tech comes an increase in scale which will elevate the experience. Mehs: -Resource Management and Procurement could use more thought. Right now it's simple, you just order the resources you need and as long as you steadily order stuff, seems like you'll never run out. I find myself only ever ordering from Africa as it's the cheapest and margins can start to become thin. It may bring more depth to the simulation if you're able to create contracts with resource companies or even governments for resource procurement. -Currently, you're really only able to play for Britain (At least in the 5 hours I put in during my first playthrough). -Money seems tight in the early game. This may change with future eras but I find it hard to believe that a company selling weapons to a government during wartime barely makes enough to pay the bills year over year. I think the contracts should award more but losing out on a contract should ultimately be more impactful. Again, this may change in the later game so it could just be the "demo" experience we are seeing in it's current state. Negatives: -Limited content. This is definitely the most noticeable part of this game as it stands in Early Access. With the imminent release of the interwar period, I'm ready to jump back in for some more content.
