This is probably my favorite "pure-action" game and it also got me interested in the mech video-game genre. Would highly recommend to anyone that would enjoy building robots and likes/doesn't mind sudden difficulty spikes — this game has more than a few of those. I would also like to point out that this is the only game (so far) that I've bothered to 100% in achievements; which should say that I consider this game to be worth my (and possibly your) time.

Overview: Armored Core 6 is more like a work of art and the experience is tailored with a specific audience in mind. It is not for the faint of heart (both in terms of the story and the difficulty curve) and not everyone will enjoy it. With that being said, I'd say it still has one of the best stories/campaigns out of most games I've played within the last decade. This is also my first experience of any Armored Core game. Gameplay/Mechanics: 9/10 What I've been looking for in the Mecha genre was a game where actions were more deliberate and attacks feel like they have weight to them. The melee weapons definitely fit that role and require proper setup to be most effective. In fact getting the most damage out of any weapon is usually accomplished by first stunning/staggering the enemy through ACS buildup. This stun bar is a new mechanic to the series and not everyone is a fan of it, but I don't see much of an issue with it outside of multiplayer/network lag. The movement speed is generally fast paced, but avoiding damage often requires precise timing and is essential to not dying horribly in this game. Certain enemies/bosses are definitely bullet sponges, but having the right loadout can make a big difference in both difficulty and how you play. My only real complaint is related to technical limitations or the game's netcode along with the requirement of a mod to play the campaign mode cooperatively with friends. Certain missions may also contain bugs and performance issues which may occasionally require you to restart the mission. Difficulty: Lego Yoda Death Scream/10 The difficulty is not so much of a curve, but a series of brick walls at certain points in the game. The first one being a heavy attack helicopter designed for the express purpose of systematically removing game journalists from the gene pool along with my sanity. To be fair this is debatably the 3rd or 4th hardest boss in the game (due to the fact that your starting loadout is dogwater) and they decided to make it the tutorial boss. I am currently petitioning the local government to provide humanitarian aid in the form of MANPADS. Story: 10/10 War is hell. Also wow cool robot! The game has many interesting characters. While choices you make will significantly impact what happens to the world, many people are simply destined to die regardless of your choices. This game can occasionally hit you in the feels so I wouldn't get too attached to anyone (stop hurting me FromSoft). There are multiple endings. Not going to say too much else here to avoid talking about spoilers, but overall you can tell they put a lot of effort into making this game. Soundtrack: 9/10 "Please stop saying dumb things! You're not even making sense-" HIGH AND DRY I FLY HIGH WATCH THAT SUN RISE IN THE DAWN Most of the soundtrack goes for a more atmospheric feel as opposed to earlier Armored Core games, but there's a few really good songs in there ("Rusted Pride", and "Contact with You" for example). Slight Rant About Video Games and "Curated Experiences": My criticism of many mainstream "AAA" games these days is they try way too hard to fit into a trope of "interactive storytelling" or attempting to be a "unique cinematic experience" to the point where it feels forced. A lot of publishers also tend to forget about the whole "video game" aspect of the media they are trying to produce. As a result of these trends (along with all the other monetization/marketing tactics which plague modern games), things often feel superficial because everyone is in the industry wants to appeal to a wider audience. "Finally Some Good ****ing Food": AC6 is pretty much the exact opposite in every regard. It is unapologetic about what it is and who it is made for. The game is only supported by its own merits alone without all the various marketing gimmicks, monetization schemes, or live service battlepass seasonal nonsense which publishers use as a crutch to determine success. People were asking FromSoft to make a new Armored Core game for years and AC6 was made with this specific target audience in mind. AC6 does streamline some of the systems to make it more accessible for new players (at least from what I heard), and somehow managed to make the much sought after "cinematic experience" that other games wish they had. I was expecting a game with giant robots where the universal solution to most problems is the Pilebunker, not one of best singleplayer/cooperative campaigns since Halo 1 and 2. Note on Multiplayer: To be fair, I have not really tried the competitive multiplayer modes and mostly play cooperatively with a friend instead. While I cannot comment specifically on the PVP multiplayer, the Cooperative play mod essentially runs on the same logic as Elden Ring, where people can invade your missions unless you disable the feature. In my experience, 3 missions do not function as intended but only 2 of them require you to play solo. You may occasionally need to restart the "Prison Break" escort mission because sometimes the AI can bug out and fail to trigger specific objectives.

I am bad at this game. It lets me dual wield shotguns and go fast. I die a lot. I didn't hear no bell.

Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon Review Armored Core VI , though being compared to the likes of Monster Hunter World for getting the bigger spotlight to an small but passionate fan base has taken FromSoft's community by storm becoming one of their top sold games and is nearing the 1 year anniversary of its release, after putting some more hours and time into the game trying out different builds, the different endings, and getting all 30 Achievements I feel confident to actually put a review for the game. Is AC6 Worth Playing? Yes AC6 though far into the series can be dropped in without playing the older titles as AC's story has been always decently loose and having different timelines of effects so for those unsure to drop in on the newer title for story connections there is nothing that requires you to play the older games. Is the game tough given the developer's History? Yes, but no Though FromSoft got its name on the map due to the *Insert Souls Series/-Like Games here* AC6 is more focused on how you build your AC for the mission itself and as you progress and get money you can get new equipment and parts for your AC allowing you to change your loadout per mission if things aren't working out for you, and once the part is found/purchased you have that part forever and thankfully being able to repeat missions you are able to build up some capital to try out everything if that is what you want. But the biggest thing is all units/bosses have weaknesses you can use to tip the fight in your favor if things seem to not be working don't be afraid to throw stuff on the wall and see what sticks. Is the story good? Or worth replaying after finishing once? Absolutely for both Not only is the story great with characters and reveals but how the story plays out and how your choices change the flow is amazing on top of having the best New-Game + of any Fromsoft Game ever not only allowing you to bring your fully equipped AC through the game again to try out the other choices you didn't try, but also entirely new missions and paths, making it so if you want all endings you need to play the game 3 times over and every playthrough gives you new parts and weapons to toy around with. How is the Multiplayer? Fun but not for everyone The Multiplayer is only arena fights meaning there is only PvP in the base game, though if you want to play Co-Op with fellow Pilots and even get invasions from hostile players trying to get a quick buck there is a mod that you can download that allows up to 5 player Co-Op and settings that you can tweak for your experience that could be making it so you have the Co-Op but not invasions, upping the amount of HP enemies have, and much more. But besides that the base game Multiplayer is engaging for those that want to rise the ranks all the way up to competing for Tournaments. Is there any negatives that can push people away? Yes, but very minimal Like any game there is people that are gonna dislike it and AC6 is no exception, there is some older players of the series that don't like how some mechanics work, or how broken some weapons combos can be, or just not like the gameplay in general but thankfully for 2/3 of those problems you will figure out quick so if you don't like it you can refund, while there is a "Meta" like any game it isn't overwhelming the scene as any player can use any weapon to beat it out as long as they are confident and know what they are doing. TLDR: Should I get this game? Yes, even if you aren't normally a fan of Fromsoft's earlier games or not even super big on 3rd person combat in general I give it a GLOWING recommendation for story, gameplay, presentation, OST, everything in this game in my opinion is great though not everything is perfect I give this game a solid 9/10 easily, there is a few things I wish this game has more of in the sense of other Multiplayer content, but the community has plenty of stuff to help via codes you can find to give you custom Emblems, Builds, and even Decals to place on your AC and make your machine YOUR machine. I don't make many reviews but after playing this game again with a new save and playing with friends that haven't beaten it once and helping them i felt a spark of a high respect for this game than I had before and I do hope that we see either more news about AC6 or news about the now newly invigorated community of AC fans.

This game is so good I actually feel bad that I bought it on sale. It's easy to forget how most of the industry is losing it, always pushing micro transactions and day1 DLCs for a very average gaming experience, when you play a gem like this that is full of amazingly fun high quality content without ever making you think about your wallet. Got a job for you 621. This request comes from a random steam reviewer: Get this game.
