The game that taught me the true meaning of "realism" in gaming. I mean, who needs a social life when you can spend hours trying to get a tank to move 5 feet without getting stuck in a ditch? In all seriousness, ARMA: Cold War Assault is a game that will test your patience, your skills, and your sanity. But if you're up for the challenge, it can be incredibly rewarding. The game's attention to detail is impressive, with realistic military tactics and equipment that will make you feel like a real soldier (minus the whole "getting shot at" thing). One of the things I loved about the game is the sense of immersion. The environments are beautifully rendered, and the sound design is top-notch. I found myself getting completely absorbed in the game world, even when I was stuck in a never-ending loop of "try to get tank unstuck, fail, repeat." Of course, the game isn't without its flaws. The controls can be clunky at times, and the AI can be a bit wonky. But overall, I found that the game's strengths far outweigh its weaknesses. So, would I recommend ARMA: Cold War Assault to others? Absolutely. But only if you're a glutton for punishment. If you're looking for a game that will challenge you, frustrate you, and maybe even make you cry a little (I'm not ashamed to admit it), then ARMA: Cold War Assault is the game for you.

Operation Flashpoint it's a piece of gaming history. Its emphasis on realism, strategy, and player choice has influenced countless games that followed. Whether you're a fan of military simulations or simply looking for a challenging and rewarding experience, this game is a must-play. Its legacy is well-deserved, and it remains one of the best examples of the genre to this day.

Arma: CWA (Cold war Assault), is the first Arma game that you really need to play if you want to get into Arma series, all the basics, game specifics is pretty much explained and showcased here. Campaign: ye, it's ok i played all of the three campaigns (main, red hammer and resistance). Gameplay: also ok, for a such an old game. Lore: two major factions in the face of NATO and Soviet union fighting for noname north sea islands, why? cuz why not lol. Overal ratting: 10/10, fun game.

Only found out, this was the old operation flashpoint re-released yesterday and bought it straight away. Classic game still fun to play.

This game is a 2001 treasure, with still updated mod support which can literally improve the game visually and auditorially. I could recommend ECP Redux overall, but since I'm a pedant, the fixed wing aircraft guns have audio clipping and the AH-1P is changed for a AH-1W with Marine Corps textures. Anyway, vanilla game wise, you set it up with high terrain detail and around 1200 view distance, any higher than either and the game crashes and reverts your game progress. There is two main campaigns and in community hub, you can download the Red Hammer campaign for free and add it to the game files. Happy hunting, soldiers!
